Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye stepped into the Demon Realm's Demon Mist Forest hand in hand, where the Ten Thousand Demon Cave was located in the very center of the Demon Mist Forest.
A thick, inky fog filled the forest, like a heavy veil enveloping everything.
The demonic mist sometimes surged slowly, sometimes churned violently, as if it were alive, exuding an eerie aura. Under the cover of the demonic mist, vision became extremely blurry, and one could only see the scene within a few steps.
The ancient trees twisted their branches, resembling menacing monsters. Their bark was rough and dark, as if eroded by countless years.
The leaves were a dark purple, shimmering with a faint light.
Some vines, like venomous snakes, coiled around the tree trunk, occasionally wriggling slightly, sending chills down one's spine.
The ground was covered with a thick layer of decaying leaves and withered branches, exuding a putrid smell. Occasionally, one could see enormous demonic creatures moving among them, their eyes flashing red, filled with vigilance and hostility.
They only sensed the powerful aura emanating from Si Mingye and Chu Wanwan, and dared not approach.
Chu Wanwan drew an invisibility talisman for Si Mingye and herself, and said, "To avoid unnecessary trouble, it's better if we travel invisibly!"
Si Mingye nodded, and the two continued on their way.
"Help! Someone, please help us!"
"Help!"
"..."
Suddenly, a series of piercing cries for help rang out in the Demon Mist Forest, breaking the deathly silence.
Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye exchanged a glance, a hint of wariness flashing in their eyes.
They stopped and listened quietly to the sounds around them. The cries for help continued intermittently, accompanied by faint sobs.
In this eerie, misty forest, the sound seemed particularly abrupt and terrifying.
"Let's go take a look!" Chu Wanwan said, and took the lead towards the source of the sound.
A group of ragged demon children were running ahead, followed by dozens of demon soldiers with ferocious faces, brandishing weapons and shouting menacingly.
"Stop right there, you little brats! It's a blessing you've earned through three lifetimes of good deeds to become nourishment for demonic corpses. Otherwise, people like you, born with no demonic body, would be useless even if you lived your whole lives!"
"Please, please, let us go! We don't want to die!"
"Waaaaah... Help!"
"..."
"Those children are commoners from the Demon Realm. Although they are demons, their strength is weak, and they can't harm the Immortal Realm or the Three Realms. Shall we go and rescue them?"
Si Mingye frowned as he looked at the scene before him.
"good!"
As Chu Wanwan spoke, she charged directly at the demon soldiers, her flowing light sword gleaming.
She moved with lightning speed, instantly appearing before the soldiers and slashing with her sword. A powerful sword aura roared forth, carrying a fierce and imposing force, instantly cutting down most of the demon soldiers.
Si Mingye followed closely behind, and as soon as he drew his demonic sword, the remaining half of the demon soldiers were instantly slaughtered.
The children stood frozen in horror as two longswords instantly killed dozens of demon soldiers.
Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye put away the demonic sword and removed the invisibility talismans from their bodies.
The demon children then realized that the newcomers were an extremely beautiful man and woman.
They became even more nervous.
They huddled together, their bodies trembling slightly, their eyes filled with fear and unease.
These two people don't look like they belong to the Demon Realm. They possess a holy and beautiful aura. If I'm not mistaken, they are people from the legendary Immortal Realm.
The people of the Immortal Realm have been at odds with the demons since ancient times. Would they kill them like they killed those demon soldiers?
Looking at the children, Chu Wanwan felt a surge of pity.
She said gently, "Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you. We've already killed those bad guys."
The children remained vigilant, watching them timidly.
Si Mingye frowned slightly and said, "We meant no harm. We were just passing by and heard your cries for help, so we offered our assistance."
The children looked at each other, seemingly hesitant about whether they should believe them.
After a while, one of the slightly older children mustered up the courage to ask, "You really won't hurt us?"
Chu Wanwan smiled and nodded. "Of course not. We just wanted to help you. Why were you being chased by those soldiers?"
A hint of sadness flashed in the child's eyes. "We were chosen as sacrifices by the Demon King and were to be sent to the cave. We didn't want to die, so we ran away."
"Offerings? What are we offering sacrifices for?" Chu Wanwan asked, puzzled.
"I don't know what the sacrifice was for. Several months ago, the Demon Emperor suddenly ordered the capture of civilian children from the Demon Realm. After those children were taken away, they disappeared without a trace."
"We're terrified. Rumor has it that the Demon Emperor wants to use us children without demonic bodies as sacrifices to something in order to gain even greater power." The child's voice trembled slightly, his face filled with fear.
"Could it be that the Demon Emperor's power has increased so much because of these children? But what kind of evil magic could use these children to level up?"
Chu Wanwan frowned and asked.
“Go and see!” Si Mingye said, looking at the eldest child and asking, “Are there any other children who haven’t escaped?”
“There are plenty! I can take you!” The eldest child’s eyes shone with determination. Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye exchanged a glance and nodded slightly.
"It's dangerous for you to be in the Demon Forest on your own. Stay in this circle and don't go out!" Chu Wanwan said, picking up eight small stones and drawing some runes on them.
