Chapter 473 Ghost Realm

The Ghost Realm is a terrifying place.

A chilling, eerie atmosphere, almost tangible, enveloped every inch of space from all directions. A perpetual, thick fog, like a giant gray curtain, heavily shrouded the entire ghost realm.

The thick fog was as dense as ink that couldn't be dissolved. Every wisp of fog felt like a cold tentacle, gently touching the intruder's skin and bringing a chill that went deep into their bones.

In this endless fog, the wails of souls rose and fell.

The sound rose and fell, sometimes plaintive and sorrowful, as if countless tormented souls were recounting their tragic experiences; at other times it was sharp and piercing, like a demon screaming, as if trying to release its inner pain and resentment through the sound.

Beneath this thick fog and wailing sounds, the landscape of the Ghost Realm was also desolate and lifeless.

The ground was rugged and uneven, covered with black rocks and bottomless ravines. The rocks seemed to have been corroded by ghostly energy, exuding a putrid stench. From time to time, eerie green lights flickered in the ravines, as if evil eyes hidden deep within were spying on the outside world.

In the mist, some strangely shaped dead trees appeared and disappeared, their branches twisted as if braided by a tremendous force. There were no leaves, only dry branches trembling in the wind, making a "creaking" sound, like the sound of bones breaking, intertwined with the wails of souls, playing a symphony of death.

As soon as Chu Wanwan stepped into the Ghost Realm, a bone-chilling cold swept over her like a surging tide. This coldness was like countless icy needles, piercing through her clothes, straight into her skin, and then drilling deep into her bones, trying to freeze her blood and soul.

But her expression remained unchanged, and with a determined gaze, she walked straight toward the core of the ghost realm—the Yama King's Palace.

Her footsteps made a slight sound in the silent ghost realm, each step seeming to tread on the edge of death, yet her posture remained upright, like a bright light in the darkness, forming a stark contrast to the gloomy ghost realm.

Just as Chu Wanwan was moving forward, a strange fluctuation suddenly arose in the thick fog around her. A group of wandering ghosts sensed her presence as an outsider and, like hungry wolves smelling fresh flesh, slowly surrounded her from all directions.

These wandering ghosts come in all shapes and sizes. Some are mutilated, as if they suffered great trauma in life; others have ferocious faces, with eerie blue flames burning in their empty eye sockets, and their mouths wide open, emitting chilling roars. Their bodies are translucent, appearing and disappearing in the thick fog like fleeting phantoms.

One by one, withered hands, like tree branches, reached out to grab Chu Wanwan's ankles.

Chu Wanwan nimbly dodged the sudden attack.

However, more wandering ghosts were attracted by the commotion and surged over. They bared their fangs and claws, some bursting out of the ground, others drifting down from withered trees, forming a circle that trapped Chu Wanwan in the middle.

A female ghost with bloody tears streaming from her eyes floated in front of Chu Wanwan. Her hair flew wildly like a tangled mess, and she let out a sharp cry: "You can't escape. Stay here and keep us company!"

As she spoke, she stretched out her hands, her ten long fingernails reaching out to scratch Chu Wanwan's face.

Chu Wanwan gently raised her hand, and a gentle divine power emanated from her palm, forming a faint halo. When the female ghost's hand touched the halo, it was as if she had encountered a blazing flame; she was instantly repelled and let out a painful howl.

But the wandering ghosts were not deterred; they continued to rush towards Chu Wanwan, their eyes, filled with resentment and greed, gleaming with a chilling light in the thick fog.

Upon seeing this, Chu Wanwan's body shone with divine light. This light was like a small sun, exceptionally dazzling in this gloomy ghost realm. Wherever the light touched, the wandering ghosts retreated like cockroaches exposed to strong light, writhing in pain and emitting miserable cries.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Chu Wanwan quickened her pace and walked forward. The wandering ghosts seemed to realize that Chu Wanwan was not to be trifled with, and dared not approach her again.

She successfully arrived at the outer perimeter of the Yama King's Palace.

The guards of the ghost realm noticed her arrival and appeared to stop her.

These guards were ethereal, as if formed from mist and dark power. Their outlines were indistinct, as if they might vanish into the thick fog at any moment. Yet, their eyes burned with eerie green flames, flickering and appearing particularly strange in the fog.

"Who goes there? How dare you trespass into the Ghost Realm!" The guards shouted in unison. Their voices seemed to come from the deepest hell, cold and harsh, carrying an unquestionable majesty. They echoed in the Ghost Realm, which was filled with wails, adding to the terrifying atmosphere.

Facing the guards' questioning, Chu Wanwan calmly replied, "I am Chu Wanwan from the Immortal Realm. I have come to see King Yama to discuss important matters."

The guards exchanged glances, and one of them sneered, "No matter who you are, without the summons of the King of Hell, no one is allowed to approach the King of Hell's Palace. This Ghost Realm is not a place where your immortal race can come and go as you please."

Chu Wanwan frowned and patiently explained, "The demon race is now making strange moves, attempting to rule the entire world. This matter concerns the survival of all realms, and I must discuss countermeasures with Yama as soon as possible. I would appreciate your help."

The guards remained unmoved and said in unison, "We only obey the orders of the King of Hell. He has instructed us that he has important business to attend to today and no one is allowed to disturb him."

"Heh! What important business could he possibly have? He's probably playing mahjong with the kids again, isn't he?" Chu Wanwan said with a smile.

The flow of time in the ghost realm is the same as in the human realm, so the current ghost realm is equivalent to several thousand years in the future for her in the modern world. In other words, the current King Yama knows her.

Not only do we get to know the modern Chu Wanwan, but we also get to know the ancient Chu Wanwan.

She even taught Yama how to play mahjong.

"You! How did you know?" the guard boy exclaimed in shock.

"I'm an old friend of the King of Hell, you can ask him yourself! I won't force my way in because we're old acquaintances! Otherwise, he'll say I'm not giving him face!"
