Chapter 94 Leaving the Capital

The ghosts began to wander around Mu Rou'er, emitting eerie laughter.

Some ghosts reached out their cold hands and gently stroked her cheeks;

Some ghosts would approach her ear and let out a strange "heh heh" laugh.

Some ghosts even penetrated her blankets, their icy auras assaulting her skin and sending chills down her spine.

They whispered in her ear, their voices sounding like they came from the depths of hell, sending chills down her spine.

Mu Rou'er felt as if her heart was about to leap out of her chest. She struggled desperately, trying to escape. However, the ghosts seemed unwilling to let her go. They circled around her, constantly frightening and tormenting her.

Finally, Mu Rou'er couldn't bear the terrifying scene any longer, and her eyes rolled back as she fainted...

The Ghost King paused for a moment, its crimson tongue still hovering in mid-air, as if confirming whether Mu Rou'er had truly lost consciousness. Then, it turned its head to look at the other ghosts, its eyes flashing with doubt and displeasure.

Seeing this, the other ghosts also stopped what they were doing, gathered around the bed, and began to whisper among themselves.

They also seemed surprised that this once arrogant and domineering woman would be so easily frightened into unconsciousness.

"What are we going to do? We haven't had enough fun yet!" a blue-faced, fanged ghost said discontentedly.

“Yeah, what a coward, fainting so quickly, what a disappointment,” another ghost chimed in.

"How about we wake her up and continue?" A long-haired female ghost ruffled her long, straight black hair, revealing a terrifying ghost face, and suggested.

"Great, great! You fainted after just a little scare, and I haven't even had a chance to show my skills yet!" A ghost head squeezed in, looking Mu Rou'er up and down, a strange smile appearing on its lips.

"No, this woman is timid. What if she gets scared to death again? Our little ancestor said that if we kill someone, she can't help us, and then we'll have no hope of being reincarnated!"

The Ghost King licked Mu Rou'er's cheek reluctantly before withdrawing his long tongue.

"Ghost King, what should we do?"

"Let's retreat. There's plenty of time later, hehehe..."

At the Ghost King's command, the numerous ghosts scattered and departed. The room quickly returned to silence, broken only by Mu Rou'er's breathing…

When Mu Rou'er opened her eyes again, it was already bright daylight, and the sunlight shone through the window, illuminating the entire room.

The events of last night flooded back into her mind, and Mu Rou'er couldn't help but tremble all over.

"Help! Help!"

Mu Rou'er shouted loudly.

"What's wrong, Madam?"

Granny Zheng pushed open the door and came in. She saw Mu Rou'er trembling uncontrollably. She quickly went over, touched Mu Rou'er's forehead, and asked with concern, "Madam, are you feeling unwell? Should we call a doctor?"

Mu Rou'er grasped Zheng Mama's hand and asked nervously, "Did you hear anything last night?"

Granny Zheng frowned and shook her head: "No. This old servant kept watch in the outer room all night, and there wasn't a sound at all!"

Upon hearing this, Mu Rou'er was stunned.

Could it be that everything that happened last night was just a nightmare? Otherwise, how could Zheng Mama in the outer room not have heard such a commotion last night?

Even if Granny Zheng is old, there are still several young maids in the outer room. Last night, those ghosts were making a lot of noise at the doors and windows, so they should have heard it by now.

Could it be... a nightmare?

Thinking of this, Mu Rou'er breathed a sigh of relief, a deep sense of relief rising in her heart. Thankfully, it was just a nightmare; if it had truly been a ghost haunting her, she would have been finished!

Having figured this out, Mu Rou'er was no longer worried. She sat up and had Zheng Mama help her get dressed.

"Where is the general?"

"The general went to court early this morning. He instructed that once the lady wakes up, she should leave the general's residence immediately. He has already prepared a guard team for her, which is waiting in the outskirts of the capital. They will accompany you and protect your safety along the way."

Some snacks have been prepared for you in the carriage; the general instructed that you eat them on the journey.

Granny Zheng picked up the neatly folded clothes from the table and helped her change.

"Hmph! At least he had some thought in him!"

Mu Rou'er nodded and let Zheng Mama dress and do her hair. After everything was in place...

Mu Rou'er left the house and got into a carriage that was simple on the outside but luxurious on the inside.

When the carriage arrived at the gate of the General's Mansion, apart from the people from the East Garden, all the rest of the Sheng family members came out to see them off.

After exchanging polite farewells, Mu Rou'er's carriage slowly drove away from the General's Mansion...

Mu Rou'er didn't see that hidden beneath the luxurious quilt in the carriage was a Soul-Sealing Jade...

...

Because of Mu Rou'er's departure, the people in the capital who had been cursing the General's Mansion were silenced.

The memorials submitted by Sheng Lingtian regarding his concubine's insults towards the mistress of the house were rendered useless.

The Emperor only verbally reprimanded Sheng Lingtian a few times, and then the matter was dropped.

The general's mansion returned to its former tranquility.

In the following days, Mu Rou'er's life was like falling into an abyss, filled with endless terror and despair.

Not to mention the hardships and struggles along the way, every time night fell, the Soul-Sealing Jade seemed to be awakened by the power of darkness, releasing a terrifying aura that chilled people to the bone.

The ghosts, like demons crawling out of hell, screamed and roared around the carriage. They scratched at the carriage walls with their cold hands, as if trying to penetrate this fragile barrier and drag Mu Rou'er into endless darkness.
