Chapter 17
"Boss Jiang, you're back?" Luo Jingyao pretended nothing had happened. "Isn't this your first day at work? Call home."
Boss Jiang didn't say whether he believed her or not. He just looked at her silently for several seconds, and finally laughed out loud: "Why? Is this some kind of shady place? Do you have to call to tell me you're safe?"
"That's not what I meant..."
Perhaps seeing Luo Jingyao's awkwardness, Boss Jiang waved her hand, took two steps forward, and put his arm around hers, leading her back. "We're all family now. Just call me Sister Jiang. You'll understand as we get along. I don't expect much from my employees. As long as you do your job well, that's all that matters."
"Okay, Sister Jiang." Luo Jingyao readily agreed.
Soon, the training area, which had been empty during lunch break, became bustling again.
Seeing that the time was approaching the opening of the afternoon camp, Boss Jiang finally let go of Luo Jingyao's hand.
But in just over ten minutes, the other party nearly dug up her entire ancestry. Fortunately, she was well prepared, and her half-truthful answers managed to fool him.
After a morning of excessive training, most of the students relied on willpower in the afternoon. After all, it was a weight loss training camp, not an abuse training camp. Probably to prevent the students from getting into trouble, the frequency of afternoon breaks increased significantly.
When the whistle for another break blew, Luo Jingyao wiped the sweat from her forehead and shifted her gaze to the coaches' lounge in the corner in front.
Then, she skillfully dodged the students lying on the ground and came straight to the door.
She stood outside the door for a while, but unfortunately, because the music above the venue was too loud, Luo Jingyao was not sure what was going on in the house.
After thinking about it, she finally put her hand on the door handle and pressed it down hard.
Creak——
As the door opened, what caught her eye was a piece of white tendon meat.
I don’t know if it was because they were hot from training outside just now, but at this moment, several male coaches in the room were shirtless, and you could even vaguely see the heat rising from their bodies.
As expected, a sour smell also hit her face. Fortunately, Luo Jingyao was quite experienced and held her breath the moment she opened the door.
The few people who were originally chatting and laughing became a little uncomfortable because of her sudden intrusion. The coach sitting in the innermost seat stood up and said awkwardly, "I'm sorry, we've never had female colleagues in the training camp before. We must be more careful in the future. Coach Luo, please don't feel awkward."
"It's okay, just do whatever you want. In the end, I'm the one who got the better deal." Luo Jingyao looked nonchalant and spoke in a joking tone.
Seeing that she really didn't seem to mind, the coach breathed a sigh of relief and took the opportunity to formally introduce her to the others.
After greeting everyone like this, Luo Jingyao finally knew the names of these colleagues.
For example, Xiao Haige’s coach’s original surname was Xiao, and his name was Xiao Ping.
Then, Xiao Ping pointed to the metal cabinets that covered the entire wall next to him and raised his hand proudly: "Except for the ones without spare keys hanging on the cabinet doors, Coach Luo, you can choose any of the remaining ones."
"Oh, okay." During this period, Luo Jingyao never gave up observing. She responded with her mouth, but her eyes swept across every corner of the lounge without leaving a trace.
After her eyes lingered in a corner for a moment, she turned around and randomly selected a metal cabinet. Then, seemingly curious, she asked towards the previous corner, "What are those things?"
Xiao Ping followed her gaze and explained, as if suddenly enlightened, "It's our coach's class diary. The training camp has regulations that require coaches to fill it out every day. It serves as an important criterion for the month-end commission."
"After you get through these two days, I guess Sister Jiang will give you a copy of this."
Luo Jingyao's eyebrows twitched when she heard this, and she simply took the opportunity to ask, "Can I take a look at yours first? I won't be so confused when I have to write it down."
"Of course, you can take a look at it as you like." Xiao Ping agreed calmly and readily, and the others had no objection to this.
At this moment, a whistle sounded outside, and everyone informed her and got up and left one after another.
Soon, the not-so-spacious lounge became empty.
Luo Jingyao suppressed her violently beating heart and, after making sure the door of the lounge was closed, she walked over to the table where a stack of orange leather-covered notebooks lay.
He reached out and took down the top book. On the first blank page, there were only two words "Xiao Ping" lying alone in the center. The characters looked unrefined, but each stroke was neat.
I continued to flip through the next two pages. The date was marked at the top of each page, and some daily records were sparsely written below.
What time was the class held, how was the students' overall performance, which students need special attention, and finally a self-summary and outlook for tomorrow.
Nodding in understanding, Luo Jingyao took out her cell phone, took two pictures of the open notebook, and then opened another one.
How should I put it? The handwriting of these five coaches can be said to be "each with its own merits".
A few minutes later, she carefully put the stack of class diaries back in place and turned to leave the lounge.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the door, she almost had a close nose-to-nose contact with Boss Jiang outside the door. Luo Jingyao subconsciously took a step back, opened her eyelids and looked at the other person in surprise.
Facing her suspicious look, the woman slowly curled her red lips and said, "Are you tired? Do you think this workload is acceptable? If you're too tired, you can rest for a while."
Frowning, Luo Jingyao thought the other party was joking about her staying in the lounge for too long, so she responded carefully, "Coach Xiao mentioned the class diary to me, and I thought I'd learn how to write one first..."
"Don't be so nervous, I didn't say anything!" Boss Jiang suddenly smiled and stretched out his hand, patting her shoulder soothingly. The next second, he changed the subject: "By the way, I suddenly couldn't find my phone. Do you have your phone with you? Lend it to me."
Luo Jingyao lowered her eyes and looked at the hand in front of her with dark red nail polish, and the muscles at the corners of her eyes were slightly stiff.
Under the woman's unblinking gaze, she slowly took out the phone from her trouser pocket, unlocked it, and gently placed it in the palm of the person opposite her.
Boss Jiang looked satisfied and casually clicked on the photo album in the lower right corner.
The screen flashed, and a series of colorful photos of blooming flowers appeared in front of the two people. It was a very monotonous photo album, with nothing but flowers.
"I'm sorry, I'm used to using my own phone, so I thought this was a call." Boss Jiang apologized perfunctorily, then found the call icon again and clicked on it again.
She took a quick look at the call logs. On the surface, there wasn't anything special about them; most of them were numbers with no notes. After finding her own number, she dialed it.
Ring, ring, ring…
A crisp ringtone rang out from the water dispenser not far away. The woman said "found it" lightly and returned the phone to Luo Jingyao before leaving.
Looking at the charming back of the other person, she let out a breath silently, lowered her head and clicked on the green bubble social software. After seeing the dialog box with the note 'lin' showing that all pictures had been sent successfully, she swiped her finger to the right and pressed the red delete key without hesitation.
She pursed her lips unconsciously, and she began to admire Lin Jiafan's sixth sense. This training camp was indeed not as simple as it appeared.
Boss Jiang's reactions were all quite unusual. After all, I have never seen any serious businessman be so defensive. I just don't know what this guy is guilty of.
Could it be that the woman discovered that her intentions were not simple?
But Luo Jingyao quickly denied this idea. For Boss Jiang, if he really guessed something, then the safest approach would be not to let her in at the beginning.
She only felt that there was a huge fog in front of her eyes, and she couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for Lin Jiafan and others in her heart. They were suspicious day and night and they were still not bald. They were really strong.
If only completing this job could cure her bad habit of walking into the crime scene whenever she opened the door, she would definitely run faster than anyone else.
After calming down a little, Luo Jingyao thought about it again and again and decided to continue working.
There are no windows in the underground area, and the lighting depends entirely on the rows of dazzling spotlights on the roof, so that people inside find it difficult to notice the passage of time.
It was not until the students were cheering and the day's training was about to come to an end that Luo Jingyao realized that it was time for dinner.
Speaking of which... she raised her head slightly and looked at the rows of spotlights on the roof that had been repaired. She wondered if there was any progress on Lin Jiafan's side.
Just as she was daydreaming, she suddenly felt a vibration in her trouser pocket, which made her eyelids jump. She lowered her head and glanced at the number on the caller ID, then answered the call and put the receiver to her ear.
"I've checked the photos you sent with the laboratory department, and they don't match the handwriting in the letter Wang Guifen received."
It’s Lin Jiafan.
No? Luo Jingyao curled her lips in disappointment.
"Coach Luo, the investigation in the training camp can be concluded now. You don't have to go there tomorrow. Just go home directly after get off work, okay?" Lin Jiafan reminded him worriedly.
"Hmm." She responded vaguely, but deep down she felt that this matter was not over yet.
Even if those five people were not copycats, how did they get involved with Wang Guifen?
"As for the rest, the police will investigate it further, so you don't need to worry about it, Coach Luo." Lin Jiafan on the other end of the phone was still worried and emphasized it again.
"You can ask Pang Guang to check on Boss Jiang again." Luo Jingyao replied without any context and decisively hung up the phone.
Then she quickly caught up with Xiao Ping who was walking towards the restaurant, and smiled brightly at him: "Do you have time?"
"Want to go out for a drink?"
