Chapter 28 As long as she lets her parents go

Chapter 28 As long as she lets her parents go

The village head and the Chen family members following behind were all frowning and sighing.

The head of the village kept coming closer to Old Man Chen and telling him the story in a low voice.

"Brother, remember this. When you start crying later, tell them that you raised your son with great difficulty, but he got married and forgot about his mother, and he beat and scolded you..."

Old man Chen said "hmm" absentmindedly, his mind full of the money that Feng Lan had "spent", and he was heartbroken.

"Also, we must emphasize that it was Feng who initiated the sale of her daughter, and you clashed with her to protect your granddaughter. This is the most important point, and it's the basis of our claim to be right!"

Old Man Chen was stunned for a moment and asked, "Then...what about Tian Lao San..."

"You're so confused!" The village head slapped his thigh in anger. "Just say that Tian Laosan is the buyer hired by Feng! We are the righteous side! Do you understand?"

"Oh...oh..." Old man Chen nodded as if he understood, but he was still calculating his money in his mind.

This strange team attracted many villagers on the road to come and watch and point at them.

"Isn't this the home of the village head and Old Man Chen? What are you doing there?"

"Looking at the situation, they are holding someone captive? What did the Chen family boss and his wife do wrong?"

"Have you heard? It seems the eldest son's wife stole the family's money and wanted to sell the child. She was caught!"

"Tsk tsk tsk, people's hearts have really changed..."

Rumors spread like the wind.

At the same time, at Doctor Sun’s house at the west end of the village.

In the small house in the backyard, Daya was lying on the bed. The wound on her back was burning with pain, but she was more worried about her parents.

She pricked up her ears, listening to the noise outside, but she could hear nothing except the sound of the wind and a few dogs barking.

"Second sister," she struggled to sit up and said to Erya who was standing by, "You...you're smart and can run fast. Quietly...quietly go back to our yard to see how our parents are doing. Don't let anyone see you. Just take a quick look and come back quickly."

Although Erya was afraid, she nodded vigorously when she saw her sister's pale face. Like a kitten, she slipped out of the back door of Doctor Sun's house quietly and ran along the wall towards her own home.

Not long after, Erya came back running like a gust of wind, with tears on her face and she was out of breath.

"Sister...sister..." She threw herself on the bed, her words barely comprehensible. "No...no...Grandpa and the village head have tied up Mom and Dad...with ropes and are walking out of the village! I heard...I heard from Aunt Wang that they're sending Mom and Dad to jail in the county government office!"

"What?!"

Daya felt a buzzing sound in her head and the world was spinning.

Go to jail!

In the eyes of farmers, it was the most terrifying place. Once you entered, you would be in danger of death, and even if you could get out, your life would be ruined.

Why were Dad and Mom sent to jail?

No, no!

She couldn't just watch her parents get into trouble!

An idea raced through her mind. She threw back the covers, ignoring the sharp pain in her back as she stumbled out.

"Sister! Where are you going?" Erya and Sanya cried and pulled her.

"I'll go find grandma!" Daya's eyes flashed with a determination that was inconsistent with her age, almost desperate. "I'll go and beg her! I'll kowtow to her! As long as she lets my parents go, I'll do anything!"

She shook off her sisters' hands and, with all her strength, stumbled towards the Chen family compound, which she both feared and hated.
