Chapter 168 Gu Yan’s life is in danger

Yun Xiangye took the medicine bowl from Run'er, scooped half a spoonful of medicine and handed it to Gu Yan's lips.

Gu Yan frowned as soon as he tasted the medicine.

Yun Xiangye fed Gu Yan only in small bites.

After feeding for a while, Gu Yan couldn't bear it anymore. He took the medicine bowl from Yun Xiangye and drank all the medicine in big gulps.

Yun Xiangye said, "You've taken your medicine, it's time to go."

Gu Yan coughed heavily twice, "You agreed to let me recover here before leaving."

Yun Xiangye said, "I didn't promise you anything. You're sick and you're not afraid of passing your illness on to Nuonuo. Leave now!"

Gu Yan said, "Then let Nuonuo go to the Princess's residence. Xiao Jingru misses Nuonuo so much anyway."

Yun Xiangye sneered, "You are the one going to the Princess's Mansion, hurry up and leave."

Gu Yan reached out and took Yun Xiangye's hand, bringing it close to his cheek to cool it down as if seeking some cool air. "Xiangye... let me stay here until the Dragon Boat Festival, and then I'll leave. You don't want to see my grandmother get worried about me and something happen to her when the festival is almost here, do you?"

Yun Xiangye thought of Gu Yan's grandmother, who was quite nice to her.

Nor did he favor his niece Wei Xi.

Yun Xiangye's grandmother died early, so her impression of her grandmother was very shallow. Although her grandmother favored boys over girls and hated her mother for not giving birth to a younger brother, she also took good care of herself when she was a child.

She still had many memories of her grandmother, but unfortunately, because her sister Wanhe entered the palace and her mother passed away, her grandmother passed away not long after.

Thinking of her own grandmother and great-grandmother, Yun Xiangye had never been filial to them, so naturally she didn't want Gu Yan's grandmother's condition to get worse.

Yun Xiangye said, "When you feel better, you must leave."

Gu Yan responded: "Yeah."

Yun Xiangye ignored Gu Yan and went to the front of the embroidery workshop to handle business. The weather was getting hotter and the summer gauze skirts in the embroidery workshop were selling very well these days. Even a set of ready-made clothes that had been hung out would definitely not be left until tomorrow.

With such good business, Yun Xiangye wanted to hire a few more embroiderers, but she was afraid that when the hot summer came, there would not be much money left to buy clothes.

Yun Xiangye thought about it for a whole day and felt that he had to hire an embroiderer. The daughters of wealthy families in Chang'an City were very generous and there were many banquets, so there was never a shortage of customers for fashionable clothes.

Yun Xiangye asked the female accountant in the embroidery workshop to find an experienced embroiderer, and she went back to the backyard first.

When Yun Xiangye entered the house, she heard Gu Yan and Nuonuo laughing in the room.

Gu Yan stood up and threw Nuonuo up, then caught Nuonuo steadily.

Yun Xiangye frowned and looked at Gu Yan and said, "You lied to me again? You're obviously not seriously ill!"

Gu Yan put Nuonuo down and coughed weakly again, "I swear to God, it was Nuonuo who pestered me to play this, and I forced myself to play with her. I... cough cough cough."

Seeing Gu Yan's pale face, Yun Xiangye went over to hug Nuonuo and said, "Since you know you're not in good health, why do you dare to play with Nuonuo?"

Gu Yan said: "Nuonuo is my only daughter, and I can't bear to see her disappointed."

Yun Xiangye looked at Xiao Nuonuo in her arms, who was still unsatisfied, and frowned slightly.

After dinner, Gu Yan took the medicine and went to bed.

Not long after Gu Yan fell asleep, Gu Jingyu came.

Yun Xiangye hurried to the side door and entered Gu Jingyu, saying, "Jingyu."

"aunt."

Gu Jingyu took Nuonuo from Yun Xiangye's arms and said, "Nuonuo is so good. Auntie missed you so much."

Gu Jingyu kissed Nuonuo's cheek as he spoke.

"Sister-in-law, my father told me that my brother is sick and asked me to come and see him." Gu Jingyu looked at Yun Xiangye and said, "Please take me to see my brother."

Yun Xiangye took Gu Jingyu into the bedroom.

Gu Yan was already fast asleep on the small couch.

Gu Jingyu put Nuonuo down and went over to check Gu Yan's pulse. "Ah, how come he's so seriously ill? My brother never gets sick, but when he does, it's a serious, life-threatening illness."

Yun Xiangye glanced at Gu Jingyu in confusion. "Is he really that ill? The imperial physician came to check Gu Yan's pulse this morning and didn't mention that his cold was life-threatening."

Gu Jingyu nodded and said, "He is indeed seriously ill. The cold and dampness have entered his body. My brother must have gotten drunk yesterday and lay on the ground all night."

Yun Xiangye touched his nose guiltily, "You can even diagnose this?"

Gu Jingyu said, "My brother's pulse is like this. He must not have a high fever tonight. I'm afraid his life is in danger."

Yun Xiangye whispered, "Since your brother is so seriously ill, you should take him back to the Princess's residence. If anything happens to me, I'll be deeply guilty."

Gu Jingyu said, "If grandma knew that brother was so ill after returning home, I'm afraid his condition would get worse. I'll trouble you, sister-in-law, to take good care of him."

"I'm no longer your sister-in-law." Yun Xiangye frowned.

Gu Jingyu coughed and said, "Sister-in-law, I'm leaving first. Please take good care of my brother."

After saying this, Gu Jingyu left in a hurry.

Yun Xiangye looked at Gu Yan who was sleeping soundly on the small couch and frowned slightly.

At nightfall, Yun Xiangye tossed and turned but couldn't fall asleep.

Yun Xiangye simply stood up and touched Gu Yan's forehead. It was very hot. Yun Xiangye frowned and woke Gu Yan up, "Gu Yan! Gu Yan!"

It took Gu Yan a while to wake up, "Xiang Ye."

Yun Xiangye said coldly, "Your temperature is getting hotter. You should hurry back home and let the princess treat you."

Gu Yan said weakly: "No, maybe this is my retribution."
