It was a chilly spring day outside. Gu Yan took off his coat and wrapped Nuonuo tightly before taking Nuonuo back to the room.
The house was silent. Xueyan, the maid who was on guard in the outer room, heard the door opening and got up quickly.
Looking at the newcomer through the dim candlelight in the room, Xueyan hurriedly said, "Prince."
Gu Yan said, "You can go out now. There's no need for anyone else to come in and keep watch in the house."
Xueyan responded, "Yes."
Gu Yan carried Nuonuo into the bedroom and lit the small lamp in the room.
Nuonuo hummed and said, "Mother."
Gu Yan held Nuonuo in his arms and opened the bed curtain. Yun Xiangye in the curtain was sleeping soundly and carefree.
When Nuonuo saw Yun Xiangye, she rushed over and hugged her tightly, sobbing, "Mother."
Yun Xiangye was awakened by Nuonuo's crying. She quickly got up and hugged the crying Nuonuo to comfort her: "Nuonuo."
Nuonuo cried even harder in Yun Xiangye's arms.
Yun Xiangye hugged Nuonuo and coaxed her. She glanced at Gu Yan who was standing beside her and said, "You are so controlling and caring towards Nuonuo, but how come you can't even sleep with her?"
Gu Yan frowned slightly, touched his nose and said, "Nuonuo missed you."
Yun Xiangye saw that Nuonuo was crying so hard that she hugged Nuonuo for a while to comfort her.
He sang the boat-rowing nursery rhyme softly in the Yongxing City dialect, and Nuonuo finally fell asleep again.
Yun Xiangye placed Nuonuo next to her. Seeing that Gu Yan was going to sleep next to her, Yun Xiangye frowned.
Gu Yan placed his hands on Yun Xiangye's waist and held her in his arms.
Yun Xiangye frowned slightly and said, "Go back to the study!"
Gu Yan hugged Yun Xiangye's waist tightly: "Nuonuo missed you."
Yun Xiangye said, "That's why I let you go back to the study alone."
Gu Yan frowned tightly, "Yun Xiangye, I've come here to give you a way out."
Yun Xiangye asked, "Do I need you to give me a way out?"
After Yun Xiangye finished speaking, she turned her back to Gu Yan.
Gu Yan reluctantly leaned close to Yun Xiangye's ear and whispered, "I missed you too. I was wrong this time."
Well, as Qing Ming said, a real man can bend and stretch, and it is not spineless to bow to his wife.
Yun Xiangye laughed angrily and said, "What do you mean you were wrong? It was your fault in the first place."
Gu Yan frowned and said, "You think about divorcing me every day, or is it my fault?"
Yun Xiangye said, "If you weren't at fault, would I be thinking about divorce every day?"
Gu Yan took a deep breath. "Okay, okay, it's all my fault. I haven't had a good sleep in several days. I have to go to the morning court today. Please let me sleep peacefully beside you for a while."
Yun Xiangye snorted coldly and said, "Is this your attitude towards admitting your mistakes?"
"Yun Xiangye, don't be too arrogant because of your favor."
Yun Xiangye listened to Gu Yanzhi's words and chuckled softly, "Becoming arrogant due to your favor? Do I need your favor? Are you trying to act like the Prince of Ning in front of me again?"
Gu Yan took a deep breath helplessly and whispered, "I shouldn't say that you don't care about Nuonuo. I know that no one in this world cares about Nuonuo more than you."
Yun Xiangye listened to Gu Yan's apology and said, "Do you know why you said those words again to hurt my feelings? And you still want me to apologize to you?"
Gu Yan looked into Yun Xiangye's eyes and said, "Shouldn't you apologize to me? As my wife, you have always been planning a divorce. Since you came to Chang'an, how many days have you not mentioned the word divorce?"
Yun Xiangye said coldly, "Is it me who wants a divorce? Everyone around you thinks you'll divorce me. Rather than being abandoned by you one day, I'd rather get a divorce sooner rather than later."
Gu Yan frowned and said, "Why do you care what outsiders say? Have I ever said I want to divorce you?"
Yun Xiangye said, "You didn't say you wanted to divorce me, but you hid your origins from me for three years. Wasn't that also because you were on guard against me?"
Gu Yan asked, "Why did you come back here after all this wandering?"
Yun Xiangye said, "Why can't we go back here? I want to treat you as my husband. What about you? Have you ever considered me your wife?"
Gu Yan said, "If I didn't consider you my wife, would I be so spineless as to allow you to beat and scold me so many times? Just ask yourself, what husband in the world is as humble as me, and yet you say I don't care about you?"
Yun Xiangye said, "What you mean by caring is that I, a commoner from a small town, rashly came to the top families in Chang'an City, without knowing the rules between royal relatives, and let the people around you laugh at and look down on me one after another?"
Gu Yan said, "I will correct my behavior in the future, but if you say that I don't have you in my heart, that's absolutely impossible. You haven't been by my side these past few days, and I've been tossing and turning. I haven't had a good night's sleep in a while."
Gu Yan placed his hand behind Yun Xiangye's head and kissed her lips, his hand gradually moving up from her waist and becoming dishonest.
Yun Xiangye looked at Gu Yan coldly and said, "You only like this kind of thing, not me at all!"
Gu Yan looked at Yun Xiangye's eyes, which were like icy blades, and reached out to gently stroke her face. "I'm not a beast. If I just liked this kind of thing, do you think I would be without other women by my side?"
Yun Xiangye frowned.
Gu Yan stood up and picked up Yun Xiangye horizontally, took her to the small couch behind the screen, and bent down to kiss Yun Xiangye's red lips.
Yun Xiangye bit Gu Yan's lips hard until the smell of blood spread around her lips, then she slowly loosened her teeth.
Gu Yan didn't continue. He simply hugged Yun Xiangye and fell asleep. "Did you feel relieved after biting me? Can you let me sleep peacefully for a while?"
