Chapter 147 Returning Home (1/2)

On a small road about 15 or 16 miles from Taoyuan County.

The two people were on their way. Neither of them was very old; one looked to be in his early twenties at most, and the other looked to be in his mid-twenties.

Their attire made them look like wandering knights-errant, and the muscles and knife scars hidden beneath their clothes proved that they were no ordinary people.

"Brother Tiger, we're almost at Taoyuan County. If we go through there, we'll be at my house."

The young man among them couldn't hide his joy when talking about his home.

Mu Hu couldn't help but chuckle: "Haven't been home for three years, are you homesick?"

"Of course I miss home! I wonder how my mother is doing, what my younger siblings are like now, and if any of them are good at martial arts!"

When talking about family matters, the young people's faces softened, filled with anticipation.

"Then I'll go take a look too, just in case there are any good prospects..."

Mu Hu spoke instinctively, then realized something was wrong and slowed down his speech.

The young man, however, didn't care at all. With a smile on his face, he said what Mu Hu had wanted to say but stopped himself: "We've found a good seedling. The first one will be given to our Mu family army!"

Mu Hu glanced at the cheerful and handsome young man beside him. He didn't know if Xiao Bai was truly indifferent or if he was suppressing his feelings.

He had less than a year to live, plus a severed right arm.

Even Mu Hu didn't know how to face Xiao Bai's family.

Bai Jiaxing glanced at Tiger Brother, who seemed to be lost in thought again, and smiled broadly. He then spurred his horse forward with one hand, exuding a carefree and radiant air.

"Let's go, before it gets dark, we can still take a look around the county. We're rich now, but when I was a kid, I always loved coming to this county to play. Everything there was amazing!"

They led the way into the county, and it was evening, so there were quite a few people on the street.

So the two of them dismounted and led the horses away.

Walking down the street, Bai Jiaxing exclaimed, "It's even more lively than it was three years ago."

"Once we've terrified the Northern Barbarians, things will get even more exciting!" Mu Hu said softly.

Bai Jiaxing nodded: "There's nothing I can do to help. Tiger, keep up the good work!"

Mu Hu patted him on the shoulder: "Don't worry! I'll bring you good news this Chinese New Year!"

"Okay! It's a deal!"

After wandering around for a bit, eating some wontons at an old lady's place, and inquiring about the location of the blacksmith's shop, Mu Hu prepared to head over.

"Brother Tiger, along the way, every time we arrived at a new place, you would stop by the blacksmith's shop. What were you doing there?"

Mu Hu: "Let's see if there's anything good that the young masters like."

"Too."

Bai Jiaxing guessed that there must be more than one reason, but since Brother Hu didn't say, there must be another reason, so he didn't ask any further.

Entering the blacksmith's shop, Mu Hu casually asked the blacksmith, "Is there a man surnamed Jiang who left blueprints here, saying someone would come to pick them up?"

In fact, Mu Hu had given up hope.

Along the way, there have been virtually no spies from our young masters. They haven't reached such remote places yet!

"One tael of silver, right? I'll go find it for you."

Mu Hu was stunned for a moment, not expecting to actually find it. He nodded quickly and then asked, "When was this placed here, and who entrusted it to you?"

"Just yesterday, a child... if you ask me what he looks like, I can't really describe it, but he was quite handsome."

The blacksmith handed the blueprints to Mu Hu and accepted the silver Mu Hu offered.

Mu Hu quickly thanked him and then carefully put away the blueprints.

When the night was deep and quiet, Mu Hu sat up in bed and took out a book filled with writing. It contained the rules that the Mu family army had to follow, as well as the life records of some members of the Mu family army.

Only a small group of Mu family's closest confidants knew this.

This thin booklet is, in a way, a code.

Different patterns correspond to different page numbers, and different numbers of petals correspond to the characters in rows and columns.

The arrangement and combination of characters may not be accurate, but the pronunciation is accurate.

“Zhenxiulou, team to connect.” (Zhenxiulou, to connect)

Mu Hu glanced out the window. It was late at night, and the Zhenxiu Restaurant had already closed.

Before dawn tomorrow, he still has to take Xiaobai home; this is his main task and must be his top priority.

I should get back early tomorrow, probably in the afternoon, and then meet with the messenger.
