Chapter 340 Miracle (1/2)

Eagle Fall Gorge.

A small squad of Mu family soldiers ambushed on the cliff. They were few in number, but each of them was an extremely accurate archer in the army.

The canyon is winding and its visibility is obstructed, so people can only judge the distance by listening to the footsteps of the marching army.

The footsteps grew closer and louder.

Dust billowed, the red flag of the Di Kingdom with its black characters fluttered in the wind, and the army stretched as far as the eye could see, a dark mass spreading out.

The Mu family army did not act rashly. Their small team had no one to provide backup, and once they made a move, there would be no way out. Therefore, they had to succeed and they had to play it safe.

Generals leading troops rarely fight at the front; they are usually accompanied by several bodyguards.

The Mu family army, lying in ambush, predicted that they would have to wait at least a while before they saw the Di Kingdom's general. They weren't divine soldiers sent from the sky; they couldn't wipe out the Di Kingdom's soldiers with just a few men.

As dusk approached, the lighting in the canyon was poor, and the distance was relatively far, making it unlikely that the Mu family army could identify someone based on their appearance alone. They would rely more on their equipment and attire to confirm their identity.

Generals who lead from the front are few, or only do so under special circumstances. Under normal circumstances, they command the battle from a relatively safe position.

On the steep cliff, ten members of the Mu family army waited patiently and carefully.

Suddenly, almost simultaneously, everyone's gaze fell upon one person in the army.

Black helmet and armor, fine warhorse, heavy and iconic crescent blade—the imposing figure was none other than Lierde, the renowned general of the Di Kingdom.

With a single gesture, ten skilled members of the Mu family army simultaneously prepared their crossbows.

This is a crossbow that the Second Master and the Fifth Young Master developed together. Its range is longer than that of ordinary bows and arrows, and the arrowheads are made of something called steel. Anyway, it is extremely powerful.

If it weren't for this assassination attempt, they wouldn't have seen such a unique and excellent arrowhead.

The experienced archer in the lead silently calculated the optimal range in his mind, and the moment he pulled the trigger, the other nine immediately followed suit.

Before dawn, at the boundary between darkness and light, ten crossbow bolts, like dragons tearing through the sky, flew fiercely and accurately toward Lierd.

Before the arrows arrived, the wind whistled first.

Lierd was a veteran with rich combat experience. His sensitivity to life, death, and danger was ingrained in his bones and had become instinctive.

When he looked up and saw arrows flying from different angles, he knew that the arrows of the Mu family army of Dayu could not hurt him or break his armor, and he would not die, but he could not help but feel a tightness in his heart.

Lierde instinctively raised the crescent-shaped blade in his hand to defend himself.

With a clang, the crossbow bolt did not break as Liddell had expected, but instead the crescent blade in his hand was shaken and tilted slightly to the side.

In the blink of an eye, the remaining nine crossbow bolts, coming from different angles, were already upon them.

The guards beside him hurriedly raised their shields to defend themselves, but it was too late.

From the cliff, the Mu family army looked down and saw one of the crossbow bolts draw a perfect arc in the air, accurately piercing the right half of Lierde's face, dripping with red blood, and embedding itself in the ground.

In an instant, the signal flare ignited and shot into the sky, exploding high above, announcing the mission's completion.

"Enemy attack!"

When Lierde fell, some unrest immediately broke out within the army of the Di Kingdom.

But the deputy general quickly stepped forward and calmed the small-scale unrest.

His gaze fell on the cliff face, completely baffled as to how the Mu family army had managed to ambush him there. The power of the crossbow bolts from such a long range should not have been enough to successfully assassinate Lierde.

Bending down to pick up one of the crossbow bolts, I stroked the arrowhead and suddenly realized the special nature of its material.

"Archers on guard! If the assassin shows himself, kill him without mercy."

The generals of the Di Kingdom were not stupid. Based on the situation just now and the number of crossbow bolts, they guessed that the number of Mu family soldiers ambushed here was not large.

Their aim was nothing more than to capture the king first and then kill the famous general in this Eagle Fall Gorge.

The death of Lierde in this Di Kingdom is not enough to cripple it.

These specially made crossbow bolts are quite interesting.
