Chapter 107 Unable to Enter the Space

She was exhausted from the day, but Song Ning just couldn't fall asleep; her temples were throbbing.

Thinking about Song Ning's life, although she hasn't done many good things, at least she hasn't done any bad things. Why is she being tormented like this?

Fearing it might be unsafe at night, everyone suggested sleeping in one room.

Everyone was crammed into one room, not even taking off their clothes. They were lying haphazardly on the bed and on the floor.

She even specifically chose a house with a larger area. Why bother?

Good heavens, the snoring had turned into a surround sound, and she couldn't tell which was Song Dahai and which was Zhu Shun. After a while, she heard snoring at her feet, this time it was Tang Xinghuai's.

Snoring, talking in their sleep, grinding their teeth—everyone had their own way of doing it, but she was the only one who suffered.

She recalled the first time she stayed in a dormitory during her school days. That night, she heard teeth grinding for the first time in her life, which scared her so much that she couldn't sleep all night, thinking that a ghost was haunting her.

She wanted to enter the space, but with so many people around, she was afraid of being discovered, so she didn't dare.

Unable to fall asleep the more she thought about it, Song Ning sat up in bed and quietly left the courtyard.

Just as she stepped down one of the steps, "gurgle gurgle gurgle..." something seemed to fall down from the corner of the wall, and Song Ning could still vaguely hear people talking.

A thief broke in?

But there are patrols outside, so we can't.

Song Ning tiptoed over and saw a faint light at the base of the wall, and a head was about to peek over.

The moment he raised his head, he saw Song Ning standing blankly in the yard. Startled, he heard a "thud" and bumped his head.

Zhou Ling'an clutched his head, his face contorted in pain.

In the dead of night...

Song Ning squatted down, looking completely bewildered: "What are you doing?"

Zhou Ling'an was preoccupied with the pain, while his older brother Zhou Cheng'an laughed and said, "My father said that we should dig a hole here so that we can come over and discuss things if anything happens in the future."

...Do we really have to dig a hole in the middle of the night?

Song Ning suddenly raised her hand: "I'll help too." She had nothing better to do.

A small wooden stick was lit nearby, providing some light. Song Ning found a shovel in the yard and helped shovel dirt.

Zhou Chengan carefully dug a hole while glancing at his younger brother.

"Ling'an, you should rest for a while. Your older brother can take care of it."

Zhou Ling'an refused to give up and carefully dug into the soil: "It's okay, I can do it."

Song Ning laughed. Had Zhou Ling'an changed his ways this week? He'd suddenly started working.

"Is your head alright?"

Zhou Ling'an shook his head: "It's nothing." In fact, the spot he had just touched was burning hot, and a large bump had quickly formed.

But he's a man, so this little bit of pain is nothing to him.

The three of them dug all night, not daring to make too much noise, until dawn, when they finally dug a hole big enough for an adult to crawl through.

All three were happy. Zhou Ling'an was a little excited, as this was the first time he had truly completed the task his father had given him.

Although scholars are not supposed to use brute force, he can no longer act as he did before.

An excited Zhou Ling'an couldn't wait any longer and was about to climb over their hard-earned harvest.

The ground was covered with bricks, stones, and clods of earth that they had taken from the wall. It was already uneven, and Zhou Ling'an was probably too excited. He lost his balance and fell backward.

Song Ning, who was squatting down to arrange the stones to one side, thought to himself, "Zhou Ling'an, you bastard!"

Before I could even utter a sound, I saw heaven.

The sun in heaven almost blinded her and gave her a headache. She raised her hand to shield her eyes before she could see her surroundings clearly.

When she put her hand down, she realized that the sun in the sky wasn't heaven at all; it was just the light in her living room that had been on all along.

Song Ning looked around. How did she suddenly run into this place?

Is Zhou Ling'an that powerful? He just rammed his butt into her spatial dimension?

Just as she was in a daze, she seemed to hear a voice in her ear: "Er Ya, don't scare your mother! What's wrong with you?"

"Er Ya, wake up."

Oh no! Her sudden disappearance is certainly strange to outsiders, but her sudden reappearance is even stranger.

The next second, Song Ning opened and closed her eyes and suddenly appeared in the courtyard, surrounded by a group of people. Tang Xinghuai was taking her pulse.

Song Ning's eyes focused, and she blinked. She called out "Mother!" and Liu Yuelan clung to her and cried.

Song Xiu'e quickly asked, "Er Ya, are you feeling unwell?"

Song Ning shook his head.

Tang Xinghuai withdrew his hand: "Don't worry, it's nothing serious. He just bumped his head and needs to rest more."

"It's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright." The village chief stood aside and breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

Zhou Ling'an stood aside, looking guilty. Fortunately, he was alright; otherwise, he would have been the one in trouble.

"Uncle Song, Auntie, don't worry, I'll take care of Er Ya these next few days."

Song Dahai and Liu Yuelan both said: Thank you, please stop now.

The village chief was a little embarrassed: "Brother Dahai, let this kid stay. Even if he can't take good care of Er Ya, he can still be used as a laborer. Consider it an apology to Er Ya."

The Song family is now large enough that they don't need Zhou Ling'an to do the work, but they also don't want to offend the village chief.

Before leaving, the village chief instructed that Zhou Ling'an should be handed over to the Song family, and they should be allowed to use him as they pleased for the next few days without any hesitation.

As soon as the village chief returned to the next house, Yu started making a scene, insisting that he bring Zhou Ling'an back no matter what.

Village Chief Zhou scolded, "What's gotten into you? Don't you know your own son? How could Er Ya possibly be interested in him?"

"But, but Song Erya used to always pester Ling'an. What if, what if she clings to Ling'an because of this incident? What if she insists on coming into our house no matter what?" When Yu thought of this possibility, she felt hopeless about the future.

"He's the one who's done this to Er Ya. Luckily she's awake now. If she hadn't, he'd have to pay with his life for Er Ya!" the village chief roared.

Upon hearing this, Madam Yu realized there was no turning back and began to cry, slapping her thigh.

Zhou Cheng'an came in from outside and said, "Mother, don't cry. I saw it all yesterday. Er Ya doesn't have any feelings for Ling An. If she really did, could you have stopped her?"

Sitting on the ground crying, Yu thought it made sense. Back in the village, Song Erya would harass her son when she wasn't home. Whenever Ling'an was home, she would wait there.

"Let me tell you, if you ever dare to cause trouble for Er Ya again, I'll divorce you."

Zhou Cheng'an sighed. His mother was truly obsessed.

Judging from Song Erya's behavior along the way, she clearly looked down on Ling An, so why would she take this opportunity to have designs on Ling An?

Meanwhile, Song Ning from the neighboring courtyard now looks down on Zhou Ling'an. Not only does she despise him, she also wishes she could strangle him.

Because she discovered that ever since Zhou Ling'an knocked her unconscious, she couldn't access the space anymore!
