Chapter 195 Song Erya, You Have No Heart

When Song Ning returned home, Xu Feng was nowhere to be found.

"Mother, where have all the people in the yard gone?"

Liu Yuelan came out of the kitchen: "I don't know. I was busy in the kitchen just now, and when I came out, the person was gone."

Song Ning wasn't worried about him running far away. Everyone here was one of their own, and they probably already knew about it. Even if he did run away, it wouldn't matter.

The plot of land in the yard hadn't been touched. Song Dahai was about to loosen the soil when Song Ning stopped him.

"Dad, you just came back from the fields, you should rest. Leave all this to me."

Song Dahai couldn't persuade his daughter otherwise, so he had to give up.

Just as it was getting close to lunchtime, someone rushed in from outside. It was Boss Liu.

"The master, the son of the county magistrate, he... he fell into the pit."

What?

"Is the person alright?"

"The person is fine, it's just..."

Before he could finish speaking, the sound of a pig being slaughtered came from outside.

Xu Feng was carried into the courtyard by two people.

He was covered in mud, and his silk robe was torn, but apart from the mud, there seemed to be no other wounds on his face.

Even in this state, that mouth hasn't stopped for a moment.

"Song Erya, it's all your fault! Wait till I get back, I'll teach you a lesson!"

Song Ning frowned. This brat is really too much trouble!

No one in the yard was willing to come forward, mainly because his clothes were still dripping mud and water.

Song Ning quietly asked Boss Liu what had happened, and Boss Liu then quietly explained the whole story.

Xu Feng was probably too idle, so he wandered around aimlessly and ended up in the fields west of the city.

They probably hadn't seen farming much before, so they went up to watch out of curiosity when they saw people working in the fields.

The magistrate's son was used to being the center of attention, and he felt uneasy when he saw that no one was paying attention to him.

Everyone was busy with their own work, so no one had time to flatter him.

But then Xu Feng started acting like a young master, bossing everyone around, and his commanding tone made everyone want to ignore him.

When Xu Feng realized that no one was paying attention to him, he started causing trouble.

Later, he walked onto the ridge of the field, and there happened to be a pit there. The snow from the winter had just melted, and the pit was full of mud. As luck would have it, our young master Xu lost his footing and fell in.

Fortunately, there were people around who quickly pulled him up when they saw him fall.

After hearing what Boss Liu said, Song Ning immediately glared at Xu Feng and said, "You didn't trample my crops, did you? If you did, you can expect to stay here and work for the rest of your life!"

She knew the pit; it wasn't deep, and it was shady, so the snow melted slowly there.

What she cherishes most are the crops in her fields.

Xu Feng was already feeling wronged, and when he heard Song Ning's words, he burst into tears: "Song Er Ya, you have no heart! I'm already like this, and you're still thinking about your crops!"

"You can't break them by falling, but if you trample on my crops, can you compensate me? Those are crops that everyone worked hard to plant. If they're trampled, how much less grain will we harvest?"

The eldest brother, Liu, nodded in agreement.

They all treasured those crops.

Although Xu Feng caused trouble, he didn't actually trample on the crops; he just walked on the ridges and was quite careful when he did.

It was lunchtime, and Song Ning didn't want to delay everyone's rest, so she sighed and said, "Alright, everyone's worked hard. It's nothing, go back now."

As Boss Liu left, he looked at Xu Feng and said in a very earnest tone, "Young Master Xu, that's not a place for you. Please don't go there again next time."

It's not that I'm afraid he'll fall again, it's just that this child is too noisy.

They were all working, and the child would cough a couple of times, make some noise on purpose, and even curiously pick up and look at the farm tools in their hands.

It's disturbing them so much that they can't work properly.

But Xu Feng understood the disdain in the words, and became even more heartbroken, crying even harder.

Song Ning picked at her ear: "Alright, stop crying."

Xu Feng wouldn't listen, and even cried louder.

Song Ning lost his patience: "Cousin, hang him up right where the mule is tied, and make him cry his heart out."

The crying stopped abruptly as soon as she finished speaking.

Xu Feng now believed that Song Er Ya was capable of anything and would not care about his status at all. He realized that he was a wise man to be pragmatic.

Song Ning chuckled: "Why did you stop crying?"

Xu Feng wiped away his tears, making the mud on his face even more even, and sniffed: "A real man doesn't cry when he says he won't."

"Tch, you were crying so loudly just now, why didn't you say you were a real man?"

Xu Feng remained silent.

Song Ning glanced at him. It was noon, time to eat. She was starving.

The Song family went back inside and sat down at the table to eat, leaving Xu Feng alone in the yard.

Liu Yuelan asked softly, "Er Ya, are we really not going to let him in for dinner?"

Song Ning put a piece of meat on everyone's plate: "Don't worry about him. We agreed this morning that we only get to eat if we work. Everyone in our family works every day, so why is he the only exception?"

Thinking you can get something for nothing? No way!

There was no room for discussion about when to loosen the soil in the yard before we could eat.

The aroma of food wafted out of the house; it was incredibly tempting.

Xu Feng is still covered in mud, sitting in the courtyard, smelling the fragrance, but no one pays him any attention.

Just then, Xiao Tao suddenly ran in, glanced at him, and went into the house with a look of disgust.

Xu Feng was furious. He was the son of the county magistrate, the dignified young master Xu, but now he had not only fallen to this state, but was also being disliked by a child.

We asked him to do some work, but he refused.

Covered in mud, he left the courtyard and, after walking a few steps, saw a familiar face: Zhou Ling'an.

Zhou Ling'an and Xu Xiao had a good relationship at the academy, and Xu Feng had also met them a few times.

"Brother Zhou, Brother Zhou."

Xu Feng ran over quickly, and Zhou Ling'an was stunned when he saw a clay figure running towards him.

He looked her up and down, but didn't recognize her: "You are...?"

"Brother Zhou, it's me. I'm Xu Feng, Xu Xiao's younger brother."

Zhou Ling'an then remembered: "It's you! What happened to you? How did you get like this?"

Finally finding an acquaintance, Xu Feng finally had a place to vent his grievances.

"It's all because of that Song Erya, she's the one who ruined me like this."

Zhou Ling'an had a good relationship with Xu Xiao after all, and seeing Xu Feng in this state, he still took him home.

Madam Yu had initially disliked her son for bringing home all sorts of people, but upon learning that he was the son of Magistrate Xu, her attitude changed drastically.

Now, two people who dislike Song Ning have gotten together. Although one is a woman in her forties and the other is a child under ten, they have endless things to talk about.

However, even when they came to the Zhou family, their role was limited to helping wash off the mud from their bodies.

Zhou Cheng had already heard from Er Ya that this time the magistrate had personally delivered it. If he really dared to help, the money didn't matter; the main thing was not to offend the magistrate.

I've heard that General Xie was involved in this, so we absolutely cannot afford to offend him.
