How can we accomplish great things after Chapter 258?

After the meal, Song Ning had observed the situation sufficiently, so the four of them left without lingering.

The dishes at this restaurant are okay, but to be honest, the taste isn't worth the price.

Apart from the roast chicken that He Wanying mentioned, the rest were just average.

The restaurant manager and waiters all treated customers differently based on who they served. Luckily, they came with He Wanying today, otherwise their attitude probably wouldn't have been so good.

However, she's not in a hurry to rectify the situation yet. She'll wait until she finds the right person. There are people offering to look after her shop for free, so she might as well take advantage of it.

However, after what happened yesterday, Song Ning dared not let the people in the restaurant manage it for her now. They were all Aunt Yao's people, and she couldn't trust them.

As I stepped out of the restaurant, the sun was blazing outside, and it was incredibly hot. The streets were gradually emptying out as everyone headed home.

Song Ning and his three companions found a teahouse, sat by the window, fanned themselves, and drank cold tea.

Song Ning asked, "Brother Shunzi, you have experience digging sewers, how was the inspection today?"

Shunzi became serious: "Actually, they're pretty much the same, just a bit more complicated than Yongning County, since it's a bigger place, but it's not a problem."

"Is there a problem with having you take on a few apprentices now?"

"ah?"

Song Ning smiled and said, "You've been with me for a while now, so you should be able to stand on your own. That way, we can work separately and get things done faster."

Song Ning had long wanted Shunzi to become independent. Lord Zheng had already told her that the experiments in Tianxiang County had proven that the sewer system was a good thing, and it should not only be popularized in the north, but also developed in the south.

She needs to train a few people, just like the previous heated kang beds, which required professionals.

People always strive to climb the social ladder. She'll definitely be doing business and making money in the future, so naturally, the people under her can't be bad either.

These days, it's all about professionals and technicians; Craftsman Li is a prime example.

If it weren't for the Li family's exceptional skills, Song Ning wouldn't have used them for so long.

Of course, digging sewers is different from building houses. Building houses is a long-term business, but once a sewer is dug, it can benefit several generations.

So he won't be doing this for long. She wants him to go out and make his own way in the world so he can stand on his own in the future.

Shunzi lowered his head, seemingly lost in thought. After a long while, he looked up at Song Ning with a determined gaze: "Don't worry, boss, I will definitely do my job well."

After they finished speaking, the two took out a map and began to discuss how to dig the sewers in Yuanzhou City and how to plan the route.

He Wanying, who was standing to the side, became envious as she listened. Song Ning and she were completely different kinds of people.

She will probably get married and become a wife and mother, just like her mother, spending her whole life confined to the inner quarters, revolving around her husband, children, and in-laws.

Thinking about her mother's current situation, she began to worry about her own future.

But then she remembered something, blushed, and quickly relaxed her brows.

After the business was finished, the heat outside gradually dissipated, and the group left the teahouse to continue strolling on the street.

As soon as she got back that evening, He Qiu stopped her and spoke to her alone.

"Miss Song, a message came from the General's Mansion today. The General wishes to see you."

Xie Linzhou? He's come to Yuanzhou too?

"I understand, I'll be right there."

He Qiu hesitated, as if he had something to say.

"Lord He, is there anything else?"

"Miss Song, regarding what happened at the manor yesterday..."

Song Ning smiled knowingly: "Don't worry, Lord He, I won't meddle in other people's business."

"Oh dear, thank you, Miss Song."

The carriage from the General's Mansion outside the mansion had just arrived; it was Zhang Ping himself who came.

This was Song Ning's first time visiting the General's Mansion. The entire mansion looked much larger than the Xie Mansion in Jiangning County, and all the servants inside were men; there wasn't a single maidservant.

The furnishings in the mansion were simple, but not monotonous, which suited Xie Linzhou's style perfectly.

Song Ning was led to a pavilion where Xie Linzhou was already waiting. He gestured for her to enter.

Song Ning bowed slightly and obediently sat down.

"How's it going? Is everything alright?"

Song Ning nodded: "It's alright. Today I just went to check out the general situation in the city. If nothing unexpected happens, construction should be able to start in a few days."

"If you encounter any trouble, just tell me and I'll help you sort it out."

Song Ning was taken aback: "Thank you, General, but I'm just here to work, so I wouldn't dare trouble you."

Xie Linzhou glared at her and said irritably, "Was your most powerful moment when you scolded me last time? You become powerless after being bullied by others? You think you're so tough with me!"

Song Ning sat there, not daring to speak. This person was too vengeful; it had been so long, yet he still remembered it.

Xie Linzhou looked at him with disappointment, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything harsh.

Song Ning really didn't think yesterday's events were a big deal. If a businessman can't even handle something this small, how can he accomplish anything big in the future?

She didn't feel wronged by what happened yesterday; such things are perfectly normal.

Then the scene that unfolded in the pavilion became Song Ning patiently comforting Xie Linzhou, while Xie Linzhou seemed to be the one who had been wronged.

That night left Song Ning exhausted.

For the next two days, Song Ning stayed at the General's Mansion and discovered that Xie Linzhou was actually quite knowledgeable in this area, giving her a lot of helpful advice.

“This place won’t work. Although no one lives here, there’s a rock underneath, which will be very difficult to dig out.”
