Chapter 22 Willing to Bear

Pei Jinxiao frowned, pondered for a moment, and then slowly said: "An old friend of ours, his son looks very similar to you. I don't know if this is just a coincidence, but I always feel that there must be something fishy about it."

Qin Moyuan's face changed, and he took a step back in panic: "What are you talking about? I don't know what son is. I really have nothing to do with you."

Pei Jinxiao glared at him angrily and grabbed him by the collar. Qin Moyuan's face turned pale in an instant, his lips trembled slightly, but he could not make any sound.

Pei Jinxiao increased the strength of his grip on his shoulders out of anger. Qin Moyuan clenched his teeth in pain, and beads of sweat oozed from his forehead.

At this moment, the wooden door of the Buddhist temple was pushed open with a creak, and Sheng Yunrong hurried in. She had obviously heard the noise here. When she saw her son's miserable condition, a trace of horror flashed in her eyes, and then she rushed towards Pei Jinxiao in anger: "What are you going to do? Dare to hurt my son, I will fight you!"

She rushed over, but was easily controlled by Pei Jinxiao. There was no mercy in his eyes: "Madam, you misunderstood..."

Sheng Yunrong struggled to break free from Pei Jinxiao's control. Seeing her son Qin Moyuan's pale face, her heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.

Seeing this, Tu Subo frowned slightly and advised softly: "Jin Xiao, let them go first, we can discuss it if there is anything."

Pei Jinxiao glanced at Tu Subo, hesitated for a moment, and then let go of Qin Moyuan.

Qin Moyuan immediately hid behind Sheng Yunrong and looked at Pei Jinxiao with horror.

"You, come with me!" Tu Subo pulled Qin Moyuan aside, walked through the dark corridor, and entered an ancient temple. The temple was filled with smoke, and the faint light of the butter lamps reflected on the magnificent Buddha statues, which looked mysterious and solemn. They walked through the crowd and walked to a more secluded corner, where there was a separate room.

Tu Subo gently pushed open the door and motioned Qin Moyuan to come in. Qin Moyuan looked at him suspiciously, but under Tu Subo's firm gaze, he had to walk in slowly.

There was nothing in the room except a table and two chairs. Tu Subo closed the door and sat opposite Qin Moyuan.

Qin Moyuan's eyes widened, and he was furious. He couldn't help but ask, "Who are you? Why did you do this? What are your and Prince Jing's intentions? Why did you kidnap me and my mother?"

The other side.

Pei Jinxiao's face turned pale. He carried Sheng Yunrong out of the Buddhist temple like a chicken and took her to the back mountain.

This is the back mountain of an ancient temple. It is silent except for the occasional sound of wind and cicadas.

The mountain path was rugged, and Sheng Yunrong's shoes and socks had long been torn by thorns, and her feet were bleeding, but she clenched her teeth and did not utter a single cry.

Pei Jinxiao threw her to the ground hard, and Sheng Yunrong's body hit the hard rocks with a dull sound.

She curled up in pain, her face as pale as paper. Pei Jinxiao looked down at her, his eyes flashing with anger.

"You bitch, you dare to abuse my son. Today I will make you pay the price!" Pei Jinxiao's voice was as cold as ice, and the sword in his hand was shining.

Sheng Yunrong struggled to get up, but she was too badly injured to move. She raised her head and looked at Pei Jinxiao, with complex emotions flashing in her eyes.

"Sir, you misunderstood. I... I did not abuse Qin Moyuan, nor did I destroy his appearance." Sheng Yunrong's voice was weak but firm.

Pei Jinxiao sneered, "Misunderstanding? Isn't what you did the truth?"

Sheng Yunrong soon understood what Pei Jinxiao's appearance meant. She slowly raised her head, her eyes passing through the smoke and falling on the tall man. At this moment, they were standing on the stone steps behind the temple, and the mountain breeze blew by, bringing with it the faint sound of pine waves.

Pei Jinxiao looked at Sheng Yunrong expressionlessly, with a barely perceptible coldness flashing across his eyes. He stood with his hands behind his back, his sleeves fluttering, like an immortal in the sky.

"Have you ever thought that what you did to him four years ago would lead him to the situation he is in today?" Pei Jinxiao's voice was low and powerful, like a heavy hammer, hitting Sheng Yunrong's heart.

Sheng Yunrong bit her lip, her face as pale as paper. She lowered her head slightly and replied in a low voice: "I know, I am sorry for him, I am willing to bear all this to make up for my mistake."

Pei Jinxiao sneered: "Bear? Do you think a simple "I'm sorry" can make up for his pain? Four years of neglect and indifference have turned him into a monster that is neither human nor ghost. Do you know what kind of torture he endures every day?"

Sheng Yunrong's body trembled. She raised her head, tears of guilt flashing in her eyes: "I know, I know I was wrong. I am willing to spend the rest of my life atonement. I only ask you to give him a chance to start over."

Pei Jinxiao looked at Sheng Yunrong, with a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. He was silent for a moment before he said, "Do you think I will let you go easily?"

Sheng Yunrong bit her lip nervously. She knew how powerful Pei Jinxiao was and that he would not let her off easily. But she still said firmly, "I am willing to accept any punishment. I only ask you to give him a chance."

Pei Jinxiao's gaze was as sharp as an ice blade, piercing deep into her soul. She slowly stood up and looked at Pei Jinxiao frankly.

Pei Jinxiao stood with his hands behind his back, his eyes were cold, but his tone was calm: "Sheng Yunrong, do you know what crime you have committed?"

Sheng Yunrong bit her lip, a trace of panic flashed in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure: "I know that my neglect and indifference to Qin Moyuan is no different from abuse. I am willing to bear all of this to atone for my sins."

Pei Jinxiao frowned slightly and asked doubtfully: "Do you really understand? Do you know how much pain he has suffered because of your momentary negligence?"

Sheng Yunrong lowered her head, tears welling up in her eyes. She replied softly, "I understand, Brother Pei. I am willing to spend the rest of my life making up for my mistakes."

Pei Jinxiao looked at Sheng Yunrong, his eyes revealing a complex emotion, anger and sympathy. He took a deep breath and said slowly: "Sheng Yunrong, do you know how Qin Moyuan spent those four years? He endured your indifference and neglect every day, and his heart was filled with pain and despair. But you, immersed in your own world, never gave him a bit of love."

Sheng Yunrong's body trembled slightly. She raised her head, her eyes full of regret: "I know, I know I was wrong. I am willing to spend the rest of my life taking care of him and making up for my mistake."

Pei Jinxiao's eyes flashed with relief, but he quickly returned to his indifference: "Sheng Yunrong, do you think that just taking care of him can make up for your sins? You know, his heart is already full of scars, those scars, you will never be able to heal."
