Chapter 112 Digging a Well for Water

Everyone stood in front of the oasis and waited for a day and a night, but Princess Zhaoyang did not arrive as expected.

Prince Yimu suggested that everyone go to Shaqiu Posthouse first. Gu Yinwei agreed, so everyone immediately headed towards the post station.

Occasionally they encountered one or two poisonous scorpions along the way. Prince Yimu and others were horrified. Yang Xiaohuan hid behind Gu Yinwei with a knife in his arms. Gu Yinwei blurted out a word.

"roll!"

The poisonous scorpions immediately scattered in all directions and fled in panic.

Yang Xiaohuan was determined to follow Gu Yinwei, sometimes leading the camel for her, sometimes standing behind her. Prince Yimu followed them slowly.

All I could see was yellow sand, and even my nose felt hot when I took a breath. The woman on the camel was wearing a hood, wrapped tightly, and not a drop of sweat fell.

Her eyes were sparkling like a clear spring. Prince Yimu was also riding a camel, but his camel was staggering. The yellow sand was so hot under the sun that even the camel could not stand it.

Gu Yinwei turned around and said, "Hold on a little longer, we'll be there in half a quarter of an hour."

After hearing this, Prince Yimu became full of confidence and couldn't help but quicken his pace.

Yang Xiaohuan had been eating bread for three days in a row and was now thirsty and greedy.

He started mumbling nonsense, "Prince Yimu, when we get to the Shaqiu Inn, I'll treat everyone to grilled mushrooms."

Prince Yimu said, "I don't want to eat roasted mushrooms. I want to eat meat."

Yang Xiaohuan was in a dilemma. The poultry that represented the Dune Inn were twelve roosters, and he and Prince Yimu were not familiar enough to kill chickens to entertain him.

Along the way, Yang Xiaohuan was worried and depressed.

As they got closer and closer to the Shaqiu Inn, Yang Xiaohuan hung his head, like a chicken waiting to be slaughtered.

The chickens at the Dune Inn were all raised by him from chicks until they grew up. Killing his chickens was more painful than cutting his flesh.

Gu Yinwei noticed Yang Xiaohuan's worry and reminded her, "The guards who returned to Kyoto earlier should be back soon. The new supplies have probably arrived."

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiaohuan's heart settled back into her stomach and she let out a long sigh.

Prince Yimu came forward to chat with Yang Xiaohuan: "Mr. Yang, what kind of meat do you like to eat?"

Yang Xiaohuan said, "I like eating fish."

"We Mobei people like to eat mutton."

Yang Xiaohuan worried for most of the day, but it turned out that Prince Yimu didn't like chicken at all.

He agreed: "Eating mutton is good. Mutton is healthy and nutritious."

A group of people were talking and laughing, walking and stopping, and from a distance they could see a flag on the city gate fluttering in the wind.

After passing the Populus euphratica forest, everyone couldn't help but quicken their pace.

Prince Yimu looked back from time to time, feeling strange. When he passed the Populus euphratica forest just now, there were many poisonous insects such as scorpions, centipedes, etc., but after passing the Populus euphratica forest, there was not a single poisonous insect to be seen.

Almond ran out with her skirt lifted up. She was wearing a blue dress with a goldfinch perched on her shoulder. The small tripod in Prince Yimu's hand suddenly shook violently.

Even through the small tripod, Yimu could feel the fear of the Five Poisons.

The long-eared martens looked around Prince Yimu, sniffing his clothes from time to time, as if he had some delicious food hidden on his body, and their eyes were almost red with greed.

The long-eared marten's teeth glowed with a faint blue light, and the two venomous fangs made Prince Yimu terrified.

Even if the five poisonous insects in the small wooden tripod were added together, they would probably not be as powerful as the two fangs of the long-eared marten.

The long-eared martens surrounded Prince Yimu, and followed him wherever he went.

Gu Yinwei raised her hand slightly, and the long-eared marten reluctantly left Prince Yimu.

Bian Tao's smile was like a breeze. "Haha, Master, you are finally back. The banquet is ready. Please take your place, guests."

While Gu Yinwei was changing her clothes, Chuchu told her what had happened in the past few days: "Master, the guards who left at the beginning have now returned. I punished them by having them repair the posthouse, and I didn't treat them well."

"There's no need to be angry with them."

"Fortunately, they came back with supplies this time, otherwise I would not be willing to open the door to let them in."

"The weather has been hot lately, so I ordered them to dig a well."

"How long have you been digging? Have you ever found any water?"

"We've been digging for three days, and there's no water."

"Keep digging, and you'll definitely find water."

"That's what I said, but the guards have been a little disobedient lately."

Gu Yinwei unfolded the map and saw that the location of Shaqiu Post Station was at the junction of Mobei and Xuanhua State. Two kilometers east of Shaqiu Post Station, there was a Mosuo River. Gu Yinwei was sure that there must be a water source underground.

It cannot be dug now simply because the digging is not deep enough.

"Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle."

There was a sound of roosters crowing outside the house. Bian Tao pushed open the door and saw a majestic rooster crowing. Bian Tao helped Gu Yinwei down the stairs.

"Master, the meal in the front yard is ready. Please wait for a moment and I will bring it to you."

"Thank you." Gu Yin nodded slightly and stood under the eaves to enjoy the cool air.

In the kitchen in the front yard, pots and pans were clinking. The cook had an apron tied around her waist, two sleeves on her hands, and a square scarf on her head.

Speaking in authentic Mobei Mandarin, he said, "Miss Bian Tao, you are here. I will bring out the dishes right away."

The cook lifted the lid of the steamer, revealing three layers of freshly fried vegetables, a plate of broad beans, a plate of braised tofu, and a small bowl of mung bean porridge.

The cook brought a tray, put the dishes on it swiftly, and handed it to Bian Tao. After Bian Tao took it, he walked towards the yard where Gu Yinwei was.

Yang Xiaohuan crossed his arms, held a piece of wild grass in his mouth, and pretended to be handsome while winking at Bian Tao.
