When I fell asleep, the nanny wiped my sweat and fanned me, and even saved the waste paper I wrote on. The nanny treated me better than her own son.
The eldest prince casually gave the nanny a gold ingot, and thus a beautiful misunderstanding arose.
The nanny did not explain and accepted all the benefits given by the eldest prince, so the eldest prince became more and more dependent on the nanny.
The eldest prince applied the golden medicine on his wound, and the pain on his body was much relieved the next day.
Agui came to bring new clothes to the eldest prince. Before the eldest prince could speak, the nanny took out the clothes, shook them open and examined them.
"The collar is too tight. Send it to be altered."
Ah Gui said, "Madam Li, the clothes were made by Concubine Xi's order. The eldest prince's size was measured before they were made. Now the clothes haven't even been put on the eldest prince, so how do you know they don't fit?"
"My eyes are my ruler. If I say it's unqualified, it's unqualified."
Agui was the head nanny of Liangxiao Palace, and was highly valued by Concubine Xi. All the palace maids and eunuchs in Liangxiao Palace were extremely respectful when they saw her.
Even Li Ma Ma always used to call her "Aunt" first and "Aunt" later, but now she is acting arrogantly.
Ah Gui refused to have his clothes redone, so the eldest prince slowly raised his head from the desk and said, "Ah Gui, take the clothes out and have them redone."
"But you haven't even put on the clothes yet, how do you know they don't fit?"
After saying that, she added, "The pattern of the dress was drawn by Concubine Xi herself, and the two buttons on it were also sewn by Concubine Xi herself."
"Since you don't want to make a new one, just stay."
Ah Gui thought the eldest prince had changed his mind and turned away.
As soon as she stepped over the threshold, she heard the eldest prince say, "Mammy, I don't like the clothes. You can take them back and exchange them for money, or give them to your grandson."
Agui was very upset, but he didn't think too much about it.
After breakfast, Concubine Xi and the eldest prince went to Huayi Palace together to apologize to Concubine Chen.
When Concubine Xi saw the eldest prince wearing old clothes, she asked, "Why aren't you wearing new clothes? Didn't Agui bring you new clothes this morning?"
"I gave it to you, but I don't like it."
"If you don't like it, forget it. Mother will make you a new one."
"Thank you, Mother. Thank you for your concern."
Concubine Xi felt uncomfortable listening to the eldest prince's words.
"There's no need to be polite between mother and son."
"Okay, mother. I understand."
Concubine Xi was obviously unhappy, with a stern face and no words.
The eldest prince was filled with resentment. He did nothing to stop Concubine Xi's behavior. When his father beat him, Nanny Li secretly shed tears several times and even fell asleep on the edge of the bed due to exhaustion.
Concubine Xi didn't care about his injuries at all, and even the medicine for treating his injuries was given by Concubine Chen.
As they were approaching Huayi Palace, neither mother nor son spoke a word.
When Concubine Xi got off the carriage, the eldest prince got off first. Concubine Xi reached out to hold the eldest prince's hand, but the eldest prince bent down and said respectfully, "Please ask mother to get off the carriage."
When passing the threshold, he reminded her again: "Mother, please be careful with the threshold."
He was respectful, like a servant, but not like her son.
Concubine Xi felt mixed emotions and didn't know why the eldest prince was deliberately alienating her.
Concubine Chen had been waiting for a long time. When she saw Concubine Xi and her son arrive, she stood up, but when she saw Concubine Xi's face as black as charcoal, she sat back down.
The eldest prince ran forward and spoke enthusiastically to Concubine Chen: "Madam Chen, your son wants to eat red date cake."
Concubine Chen smiled happily: "Yes, I prepared it a long time ago and it's steaming in the pot."
"A Xiang, go get the red date cake."
When Ah Xiang went to get the pastries, the cook tactfully brought in a plate of freshly baked pastries.
The eldest prince reached out to grab it, and his little hand turned red from the heat. Concubine Chen held the eldest prince's hand and blew it gently.
"Slow down, don't be in a hurry, drink some tea first."
The eldest prince and Concubine Chen were talking and laughing, looking like a real mother and son, while she was alone, out of place, like an uninvited guest.
After Concubine Xi entered the hall, the eldest prince immediately put down the cake in his hand and said respectfully, "Please take a seat, mother."
Concubine Xi was furious: "What do you want? Your father beat you that day, and I couldn't do anything about it. Who are you showing this to?"
Concubine Xi was so angry that she threw the teacup away. The eldest prince fell to his knees with a thud, and his knees hit the broken porcelain pieces.
It was bloody and shocking.
Concubine Xi was both in pain and regretful.
The eldest prince reached out and slapped his own face: "I am guilty. I shouldn't have angered my mother."
Since Concubine Xi didn't say anything, the eldest prince beat her even harder until blood came out of the corner of her mouth and her face was swollen.
Concubine Chen pulled up the eldest prince and protected him behind her with open arms like a hen protecting her chicks.
"The eldest prince is still young, Concubine Xi. How can you be so harsh on him? Look how frightened he is. The wound that just healed has now opened again."
"They say a father is strict and a mother is kind. If a mother is not kind, how can a son have a heart-to-heart with her?"
"Okay, very good. I can't be a mother, but you will."
"Since the eldest prince likes you anyway, just let him be your son. I will pretend that I never gave birth to him."
The eldest prince stepped forward and kowtowed: "Mother, please calm down. Mother, please calm down."
Concubine Xi raised her leg and kicked the eldest prince on the shoulder: "Get lost, from today on, you are no longer my son, Xi Jiaorong."
Concubine Xi turned around and left. When she walked out of the gate of Huayi Palace, she suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Then his neck tilted and he fainted.
Agui hurriedly sent someone to call the imperial physician, and then carried Concubine Xi back to the palace.
At Huayi Palace, Concubine Chen personally removed the porcelain fragments for the eldest prince, applied ointment, and patiently bandaged her wound.
