Chapter 44: Unsettled Mind

"I will teach you."

"Xunhe, please find two travelogues from my study and send them to the Queen, so that she won't be distracted all day long."

The queen lowered her head, looking very hurt.

The emperor stopped and tried to comfort her, "Sitting alone can make your mind wander. A wandering mind is like a monkey and is difficult to tame. You must first calm your mind."

"Secondly, the Queen should refrain from interfering in court affairs, and there is no need to give me advice. I will not accept your suggestions."

After the emperor left, the queen fell into deep thought while looking at a pile of travel notes.

Xia Chan flipped open the travel notes and took a look, a smile on her face. "My Lady, these travel notes are really interesting. There are even portraits on them. Would you like to take a look?"

The Queen said with a cold expression, "Throw it out! What kind of idiot-like idiom do you have the guts to show me?"

No matter how bad the travelogue is, it is a gift from the emperor, so Xia Chan dare not follow it.

Xia Chan ordered a little palace maid to throw the travel notes out from the back door. Chuchu had recently been learning to write with Gu Yinwei and was worried about not being able to find a good book. When she saw the little palace maid throwing the book out, she picked it up and took it back.

Seeing her coming back with a basket of books, Gu Yinwei joked, "You were giving Gu Shurong some sunflower seeds, but why did you bring back a basket of books?"

"Master, I picked it up."

"Where did you pick it up?"

"I found it in the corridor behind Qiwu Palace."

Gu Yinwei flipped through the book and said, "It's a brand new book, why would you throw it away? You picked it up very well. Next time you see someone throwing away a banknote, remember to pick it up too."

Chuchu was very happy about this, and surrounded Gu Yinwei, watching with her.

"Look, this is the Leshan Giant Buddha. It is said that this giant Buddha was built here to suppress the monsters in the water."

Gu Yinwei read and took notes at the same time. When she saw a vivid sentence, she liked to draw a horizontal line through the paragraph. When she encountered an unfamiliar word, she would mark the pronunciation.

Chuchu listened attentively. She loved listening to legends about gods and Buddhas.

Gu Yinwei made up stories based on the locations in the book, and Chuchu and Biantao listened with great interest.

"Master, with your eloquence, it would be a waste of your talent if you didn't become a storyteller."

"I don't want to be a storyteller. I just like to be a lazy person who only reads books and doesn't work."

The master and his two servants gathered around a desk, on which were melon seeds, dried fruits, and Pu'er tea.

I was eating and watching at the same time, forgetting everything else.

After returning from paying their respects to the Queen's Palace, they stayed up all night reading.

Qi Gengyi and his men rushed into the Pepper Room with a ferocious look, while Gu Yinwei and his master and servant were still immersed in the world of the book.

Qi Gengyi was accompanied by the Imperial Noble Consort, who was holding a letter in her hand and slammed it hard against the tree.

Wasn't the Imperial Concubine under house arrest? Why did she jump out now? In order to set a trap for her, the Queen did not hesitate to disobey the Emperor's orders.

"What are you looking at? It was the Queen who let me out of Qionghua Palace. Isn't it true that Gu Gengyi is dissatisfied?"

"Royal Consort, Guo Sizhen didn't do it on purpose."

"Hahaha, what a joke! I lost Guo Sizhen and I paid nine million out of my own pocket as compensation, and now you're telling me it wasn't intentional."

"I stabbed you half to death and then apologized to you. Do you accept it?"

"Imperial Concubine..." Gu Yinwei wanted to explain to her.

"Don't criticize me. You've fallen into my hands today, and I'll make sure you never get over it."

Qi Gengyi stood next to the Imperial Noble Concubine, followed by Xia Chan, who was accompanied by two palace maids. They were holding a letter and a pair of men's shoes in their hands.

Xia Chan is the queen's confidant, and his every word and action represents the queen.

"The Queen's order."

Xia Chan folded his hands in front of his abdomen, his expression solemn and his tone sonorous and powerful.

"Changing clothes for Gu is against palace rules. The Imperial Concubine is ordered to conduct a thorough investigation."

After Xia Chan finished speaking, Gu Yinwei supported Bian Tao's hand and slowly stood up. A thorough investigation? The Imperial Concubine had the final say on how to investigate.

The Queen instigated Qi Gengyi to frame her, and pretended to send the Imperial Noble Consort to investigate. The Imperial Noble Consort had long hated Gu Yinwei because of the Guo Sizhen incident.

Even if there is no evidence to prove that Gu Yinwei violated the palace rules, the imperial concubine will deliberately fabricate evidence.

Others are the chopping board and she is the fish.

Gu Yinwei did not try to make any distinction, nor did she resist, allowing the palace maids and eunuchs to search the Pepper Room.

The Imperial Concubine paced back and forth along her bedroom, her eyes falling on the antique display case by the wall. Jealousy erupted like a flash flood, and she roared, "Ruyi, give me a good slap in the face. She's just a little girl changing clothes, yet she actually treats me with disrespect."

The decorations in the Pepper Room are priceless, including the Fuxi Qin, the antique shelf, and the twenty-four sheep-hair brushes. The Imperial Noble Concubine has coveted these three items for a long time. She has pestered the Emperor for them many times, but the Emperor has never given them to her.

Ruyi rolled up her sleeves to slap Gu Yinwei, while Bian Tao and Chu Chu stood in front of her with their arms open.

The Imperial Concubine raised her leg and kicked Chu Chu in the heart. Chu Chu opened her mouth and let out a scream.

Bian Tao hugged Chu Chu and cried anxiously, "Master, Chu Chu is vomiting blood."

The soles of the clogs on the imperial concubine's feet were thick, and this kick almost took Chu Chu's life.

Chu Chu struggled to get up, "It's all my fault. If you want to hit me, hit me, don't hit Gu Gengyi."

The Imperial Concubine sneered: "Hitting you will only dirty my hands."

The Imperial Concubine was filled with murderous intent. "Drag him out and beat him to death."

The eunuchs carried Chuchu out. Chuchu was injured and could not use any strength. One eunuch grabbed her collar and another pulled her feet. Chuchu's hands hung on the ground, and blood dripped down her fingertips.

Bian Tao's face was pressed against the ground, and three strong palace maids were holding her down tightly.

"What a great show of framing and maliciously hurting people."

"Gu Gengyi, kneel down quickly! Are you crazy?" The imperial concubine took a step back in fear when she saw Gu Yin's slightly red eyes and the anger rising from his body.

"Quickly get a rope to tie her up and quickly block her mouth." Qi Gengyi shouted.

Xia Chan turned her back and didn't dare to look at the scene in front of her. Gu Gengyi was doomed to suffer misfortune because she had offended the queen.

Two eunuchs tied a rope around Gu Yinwei's neck, but Gu Yinwei dodged it nimbly, and quickly moved behind the imperial concubine, strangling her throat with her hands.

"Gu Yinwei, don't mess around. If you dare to hurt me in the slightest, I will never let you go."

"I won't let you go now." Gu Yinwei's hands tightened inch by inch, and the imperial concubine's face turned red, like a dying fish.

"Hehe."

The Imperial Concubine started coughing violently, followed by an endless feeling of suffocation. Ruyi quickly thought of a solution, "Gu Gengyi, it was the Empress who ordered the palace search. Even if you kill the Imperial Concubine, you can't escape the blame."

Gu Yinwei held the Imperial Concubine hostage and ordered: "First, treat Chuchu's injuries. Second, do not torture Bian Tao."

After Gu Yinwei finished speaking, no one followed up. She released the hand that was pinching the Imperial Concubine and said, "Tell them."

The Imperial Concubine gasped for breath and said, "Do as she says."

Everyone immediately ran away, and Gu Yinwei took the imperial concubine hostage and walked towards Qiwu Palace.

She grabbed the Imperial Concubine by the collar, and as soon as they left the Pepper Room, the news that Gu Gengyi had kidnapped the Imperial Concubine spread throughout the harem.
