The three of them left the Three Saints Courtyard and got on the carriage.
The emperor rode ahead on horseback, with guards clearing the way all the way. He caused quite a stir when entering the city, and many civilians gathered to watch the excitement. In order to avoid congestion, the emperor took the initiative to return to his carriage and sit down.
After three years, Gu Yinwei finally returned to the palace she had been away from for a long time.
The emperor personally led the way and spoke eloquently, "The Cining Palace has long been renovated, and your mother can rest assured that you will live here."
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for your concern."
"My son should do all this."
Concubine Zhen asked, "Where do I live?"
"Changning Palace has been completely renovated. I believe Concubine Zhen will like it."
"Thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty. I do not like luxury. The late emperor often said that success comes from frugality and failure from extravagance."
The emperor bent over, looking very teachable.
"The newlyweds will soon enter the palace. Let Changning Palace be the residence of the newlyweds. I will live in a side hall of Cining Palace."
Gu Yingxia said, "I also live in a side hall of the Cining Palace. There are many mosquitoes in the Hefeng Hall in the summer, and I am most afraid of mosquitoes."
The virtuous concubine laughed and said, "You are not afraid of mosquitoes, you simply can't sleep without the Empress Dowager."
"It would be better if you two stayed in the side hall, so that the newlyweds wouldn't have to run back and forth to pay their respects." Gu Yinwei pushed Gu Yingxia and said, "Go choose a room."
Concubine Zhen ran away first, "The west side hall is for me to live in."
"Why should I give in to you?" Gu Yingxia refused to give in.
Gu Yinwei and the emperor strolled leisurely in the garden.
"I heard from Shuangxi that you often study late into the night, and even in the cold winter months, you still practice swordsmanship. Your legs ache unbearably on rainy days."
"Now lie down, my Lord, and I will give you acupuncture."
"Thank you, Mother."
"Although state affairs are important, your health is equally important. Fame is like a fleeting cloud. I don't want you to sacrifice your health for a good reputation."
"My son is learning."
The emperor was lying on the wooden window, and Gu Yinwei brought him a cup of hot tea. The tea had a light fragrance, and a sip of it made people feel refreshed, their waist was no longer sore, and their eyes were no longer dry.
Seeing this, Chuchu explained the origin of this tea with satisfaction: "Your Majesty likes to drink truffle tea, right? I will send it to Your Majesty tomorrow. The recipe of truffle tea is not easy to come by. It was given by a wandering Taoist priest on the sea."
"The Taoist priests say that drinking it regularly can keep you young and prolong your life."
Gu Yinwei jokingly said, "Don't talk nonsense. There is no tea in the world that can prolong life, nor is there any sea recipe that can guarantee eternal youth."
Zhu Beifeng fell into deep thought. Regardless of the authenticity of the Fenglu Tea, the taste was excellent.
Gu Yinwei applied acupuncture, and Zhu Bifeng did not feel any pain at all. In just a cup of tea, his legs were no longer sore and he walked steadily and powerfully.
Chuchu personally packed a bag of tea and handed it to Shuangxi, who quickly thanked her, "Thank you, Aunt Chuchu."
“The tea leaves were picked and roasted by the Empress herself. If you want some, thank our Empress.
Shuangxi thanked him again and again, then slowly walked out with the tea leaves.
After leaving the Cining Palace, the emperor did not say where he was going and walked around aimlessly.
"Shuangxi, has anyone sent anything from King Xiaoyao's fiefdom?"
"Your Majesty, no."
"Where's the letter?"
“No.”
"Forget it, take the tea and go back to the imperial study."
After the emperor left, Gu Yingxia ran over to talk to her.
"Empress Dowager, the new concubines will come to pay their respects to us tomorrow. What gifts should we give them?"
"It's just jewelry, clothes, ornaments and the like. You can give them as you like."
Gu Yingxia pondered Gu Yinwei's words carefully, and saw that there were many ornaments in her storeroom, some of which were ugly and useless. She took this opportunity to clean them up and give them to the younger generation.
Zhu Bifeng did not have a queen or a concubine. There were four people with higher ranks than her, and the rest were all below the rank of concubine.
The next evening, the concubines cleaned up their residence and came to pay their respects at dusk.
Concubine Chen was the legitimate daughter of the General who protected the country. She was proud of her noble status and walked in front of everyone with her waist twisted.
The decoration of the Cining Palace was elegant, and the two concubines and the dowager queen looked quite friendly. Besides, the empress dowager was not the emperor's biological daughter. Concubine Chen was just pretending to be respectful on the surface, but she was a little neglectful in her heart.
"Your concubine Chen Minjun greets the Queen Mother and the two concubines."
"Good boy, look at the reward."
Before the Empress Dowager could say anything, Concubine Xian hurriedly ordered someone to bring up an antique display stand. The stand was made of the finest golden nanmu wood and was well-made. It was hard to find on the black market for a fortune.
Chen Minjun had only seen Concubine Xian in her grandfather's study when she was young. She was indeed as generous as the rumors said.
"Thank you, Concubine Xian."
Gu Yingxia gently raised her hand: "Princess Chen, please stand up."
Finally it was given away. The antique display cabinet took up too much space, and many of her treasures were covered in dust in order to put it on the cabinet.
Chen Fei got the antique shelf and retreated to his seat with confident steps, glancing proudly at the other concubines.
Qi Yu'er stepped forward and saluted: "Good luck to this concubine, and good luck to the two concubines."
Gu Yingxia's eyes lit up, and another person came and gave her a statue of Guanyin.
"Princess Qi, please come forward. I will give you a gift."
Concubine Zhen gave Concubine Qi a set of enamel tableware. Concubine Qi was overjoyed and said, "Thank you very much, Concubine Zhen."
"In fact, you should call me aunt. Come to the Cining Palace often to talk with me."
"Yes, Madam Dowager."
Gu Yingxia was so anxious because she couldn't give away the Guanyin statue in her hand.
Xi Jiaorong stepped forward and saluted: "Long live the Queen Mother, and long live the two concubines."
"Come, I'll give you a statue of Guanyin." Gu Yingxia waved her hand.
Xi Jiaorong smiled and stepped forward to take it, "Thank you, Concubine Xian."
Gu Yinwei saw a black aura coming out of Xixi's pretty head, and realized that if she took it off, something bad would happen. She gave her a purse with a blessing inscription on it and told her to wear it close to her body.
