Chapter 10: The whole clan worships the heaven

Gu Yingxia would distribute a handful of melon seeds to everyone she met, and these old women would stand under the shade of the tree for the entire day.

They don't talk to anyone, they are like wooden stakes, there are mosquitoes around them, and they stand there all day long.

The old women threw two melon seeds into their mouths, opened and closed their lips, and with a crunching sound, they chewed them for an hour.

Gu Yingxia came to Ning Heyu's door without any obstruction: "Miss Ning, I brought some freshly roasted melon seeds for you to eat."

Ning Heyu looked at the scars on her legs and said angrily, "Go and drive her away. I'm so worried that I'm not even eating melon seeds."

The maid bowed and nodded, then backed out of the room. Gu Yingxia glanced at Ah Qing, who handed her a heavy purse.

"It's just a small token of my appreciation. Please accept it, sister." The maid took the purse from Ah Qing.

She felt that Gu Yingxia's gift was deeply moving. She quietly accepted it and said slowly, "My mother is seriously ill at home. Miss Ning has graciously allowed me to return home. I will keep everything that happened in Waterside Pavilion to myself."

Gu Yingxia smiled with satisfaction: "This is the best. A mother worries about her son even when he is thousands of miles away. If you go back, your mother's illness will be cured. I won't bother you anymore. Goodbye."

The maid stood there and knelt down to salute, watching Gu Yingxia leave. She was a person who knew when to quit. This money was enough for her to live a comfortable life, and she didn't want to earn more money.

"She's gone?"

"To reply Miss, Miss Gu has left."

"Hmph, this Gu Yingxia looks like a humble helper, but she's actually not someone you can get along with. She walks around with sunflower seeds in her pocket every day, distributing them to everyone she meets, and taking advantage of small talk to pry into other people's privacy. From now on, all of you stay away from her."

"Yes." The maids lowered their heads and spoke in a meek tone.

Ning Heyu was injured and her birthday party was ruined. She felt very hostile towards Gu Yingxia and Gu Yinwei.

Ning Heyu sat in a wheelchair. The maids pushed her to the desk and stopped. She wrote a letter to Concubine Yi in the palace.

Concubine Yi's mother and her mother were sisters. When Concubine Yi was young, her parents went out for an outing and were killed by bandits. Ning Heyu's mother took Concubine Yi to the Ning family. The two of them lived and ate together since childhood, and had the same food, clothing and expenses.

The sisters participated in the selection together. Because Concubine Yi was three years older than Ning Heyu, she entered the palace earlier than Ning Heyu.

A handwritten letter was handed from Ning Heyu to the maid, and then from the maid to the eunuch who was responsible for buying food outside the palace, and finally to Wen Qin, the head maid of Chunxi Palace.
