Chapter 18 The Nanny's Niece's Counterattack 18 (Jinjiang Literature City)

Chapter 18 The Nanny's Niece's Counterattack 18

When Lin Wei saw the test paper, she glanced at it, then couldn't help but glance at it again. It didn't seem as difficult as she had imagined.

Because she didn't believe in superstition, she looked at it again and again, and found that she had learned and memorized this part of the content. Her heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally calmed down.

I was terrified.

She thought she was really going to die this time, but it seemed that things hadn't gotten to the worst point yet, and there was still a chance to save her, so Lin Wei quickly picked up a pen and started writing.

For the first question, regarding the relationship between the value of money and inflation, the answer is B.

The second question concerns the relationship between productive forces and relations of production. The answer is D.

The answer to the third question is A.

...

Lin Wei selected the answer to each question without hesitation, without even thinking. Even when faced with the more challenging questions, she still had a feeling of "That's it?"

She had memorized all this knowledge; all she needed to do was apply it, which wasn't difficult for her—it was even a bit too easy. She wrote down a few principles with ease, then combined them with the problem statement, completing a full page in just a few minutes.

As for history, it was even simpler. The multiple-choice questions often included classical Chinese texts, which were incredibly easy for Lin Wei, who used classical Chinese as everyday language. However, she still felt a sense of surprise when she finished all the questions.

Wow, that's easy! How could the teacher who set the exam have such an easy question? She declared that teacher her favorite. Unlike Fang Yihuai, Zhang Mo, and Gao Fuya, she didn't need to use overly difficult questions to highlight their abilities; this level of difficulty was just right.

After finishing all three subjects, Lin Wei left the classroom twenty minutes early. The campus was deserted, and she didn't see a single person.

It was only then that she had time to think about why the exam was so easy. Logically, it shouldn't have been this easy. The problem she was facing was that her academic aura had been shattered.

Then she realized something: she seemed to have gotten the scope of the exam wrong.

"Yeah, how could the midterm exam cover the entire book? Am I crazy? I actually prepared for this exam like it was the final exam."

Lin Wei stopped abruptly, her face showing a mixture of amusement and exasperation. What a huge blunder!

She thought the exam would cover all of the first-year high school material, but it was actually just a midterm exam. How could it possibly cover everything? So why did she study so hard for the past five days? And she even thanked the teacher for making the questions easy? It wasn't that the questions were easy; it was clearly because she had learned the material thoroughly.

Is it really a coincidence? Because of time constraints, she only managed to study enough of the subjects in politics, history, and geography to be within the scope of the midterm exam. If she had studied even a little less, today's exam wouldn't have gone so smoothly.

At that moment, Lin Wei felt incredibly foolish. Luckily, she had allocated some time to each subject when she was reviewing politics, history, and geography. Otherwise, it would have been too unfair to shatter her academic aura because of this incident.

Meanwhile, in the classroom behind her, the other students were getting a little nervous because she handed in her paper early, and their minds were no longer on the exam.

"What kind of person is this, ruining people's mindset like this?" The exams at the No. 1 High School in the city are different from those at other schools for first-year high school students. They combine politics, history, and geography into one paper, and physics, chemistry, and biology into another paper, which takes two and a half hours. Often, everyone doesn't have enough time, let alone leave early.

Because of her actions, a group of people began to question their existence. Was this exam really that easy? Faced with unfamiliar classical Chinese texts and ambiguous answer choices, several students revealed their pain.

I really don't know which answer to choose.

They were able to get into the top high school in the city, even if they were last in the class. They were still above average in their class in junior high. If they could, who wouldn't want to do well? But the problem is they don't know how.

Lin Wei was unaware of the commotion her leaving early had caused in the classroom. She walked a little further and saw Gao Fuya comparing answers with Fang Yihuai and Zhang Mo. She had initially thought herself very capable, but reality had slapped her in the face again.

Sure enough, there are always people more capable than you, and there's always something beyond your understanding. They actually came out before her. Is that reasonable? Lin Wei couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy.

I really hate these geniuses. Others have to put in many times more effort to reach their level, but they can achieve it so easily.

Why can't there be one more genius like her in this world? She smiled bitterly once again.

At this moment, Fang Yihuai also saw her and waved to her, "Lin Wei, you've finished your exams too?"

Lin Wei replied as she walked up to them, "Yeah, but not as fast as you guys."

Zhang Mo explained, "We just came out a little while ago." Fang Yihuai came out first, then he came out second, and then Gao Fuya. All in all, we were only a few minutes early.

However, because he didn't explain in detail, Lin Wei didn't know, and only felt that she needed to keep trying.

The four of them huddled together and compared their answers. Most of them were the same, with only a few slightly different. Lin Wei estimated her score and figured the difference shouldn't be too big, especially since she felt she had done quite well in Chinese and was sure to be among the top students.

This immediately dispelled her earlier frustration at the significant gap between the group, especially when Gao Fuya praised her for being very strong; all she felt was joy.

"Thank you, you're amazing too."

Upon hearing this, Gao Fuya smiled and apologized for her previous behavior, saying, "I was desperate last time, I'm sorry." Although it was a transaction, there was an undeniable air of superiority, as if she felt Gao Fuya was unworthy to team up with Zhang Mo and Fang Yihuai.

Lin Wei wasn't petty, and waved her hand, "It's okay, I don't care at all." Besides, it wasn't that she hadn't been tempted. If she had come earlier, she might have actually withdrawn. Of course, whether Zhang Mo and the others wanted her to join was not her responsibility.

To her surprise, after checking the answers, several people asked her if she wanted to participate in a math competition. Upon hearing this, Lin Wei thought she had misheard.

"What? A math competition?"

The physics competition just ended, and they're already participating in a math competition? And this exam paper isn't even written like this! Lin Wei had previously thought she was struggling with her exams, but now it seems she was nothing compared to them. Compared to their math competition, what kind of exam paper was hers?

Gao Fuya said, "This math competition is just the entry point. I don't know if you've heard of the five major subject Olympiads. As long as you enter the national training team, you can participate in the guaranteed admission program. Although this math competition is not related to those competitions, it can still improve your skills." Competitions are always better the more they are. Participation is always better than no participation, at least it will look better on your resume.

Lin Wei looked at Zhang Mo and Fang Yihuai, "Have you both decided to participate?"

Zhang Mo and Fang Yihuai nodded. "Yes." There was nothing to hesitate about. It was just a competition. Although it was a competition, they had participated in quite a few from elementary school to junior high school, so they didn't think it was anything special.

But for Lin Wei, this was a huge deal. She had never participated in any competitions before, and even though she had never done those competition problems, she knew they were different from the math she usually learned.

How is she supposed to participate?

However, for various reasons, she didn't refuse immediately upon hearing this. She had to consider things more carefully; if she didn't participate now, would she fall behind these geniuses again? If she fell behind every time, how could she catch up? Because of this, Lin Wei hesitated, "I'll think about it some more." Since it was a competition, she definitely wanted to win.

She needs to see what the competition questions are like so she can have a general idea.

Because of this, after returning to her dormitory, she left the school gate again shortly after. This time, she went to a bookstore, where Fang Yihuai recommended several competition books. When it comes to mathematics, no one is more familiar with it than him.

On the bookshelf, she found the books he had mentioned, glanced through them briefly, and realized she couldn't understand them. She was about to go to the cashier to pay when she bumped into someone. "Ouch." The person was hard and made her head ache.

She rubbed her forehead and apologized to the person in front of her, "I'm sorry." Without even taking a good look at what the person looked like, she squatted down to pick up the fallen books. One book landed on Qin Boyuan's shoe. He bent down to pick it up, and seeing the title, he was surprised. He couldn't help but glance at the girl in front of him a few more times before recognizing her.

"Lin Wei?" He couldn't forget the photo Qin Siyu had shown him just a few days ago, especially since she wasn't just an average-looking woman. She was clearly more beautiful and vibrant in real life than in the photo.

Lin Wei took the book from his hand, her eyes filled with doubt. "Do we know each other?" That shouldn't be the case. If she knew someone like this, she shouldn't have forgotten him. Although the person in front of her was dressed very simply, he couldn't hide his outstanding temperament, not to mention his face, which was in no way inferior to Zhang Mo and Fang Yihuai. It's just that the three of them had different styles.

The former is somewhat arrogant, with a hint of barely perceptible superiority; the latter is taciturn and very steady, while the former is cheerful and optimistic, but always likes to joke around, though when serious, they seem like a completely different person.

However, it cannot be denied that Zhang Mo and Fang Yihuai are more approachable and easier for people to get along with.

Qin Boyuan nodded. "I saw your photo at the physics competition a while ago." This explained how he knew her.

Upon hearing this, Lin Wei's eyes lit up with realization. "I see. Thank you." She shook the book he had just helped pick up, not bothering to delve deeper or ask him why he was watching the physics competition. She then walked to the cashier to pay with the book in her arms.

These books cost her sixty yuan, which, to be honest, hurt her a little.

Behind her, Qin Boyuan watched her departing figure, recalling the math competition books he had seen earlier, and mused, "She's quite clever; no wonder Siyu lost." This meeting was just a minor incident for both of them, and they didn't dwell on it. Lin Wei went back and immediately started reading those competition books, once again experiencing the feeling of her intelligence being mocked.

What the heck is this? She stared at the question, completely baffled as to why it jumped to this point all of a sudden. She could memorize and learn the other nine subjects, which was within the realm of normal understanding, but this one—without anyone explaining it—she genuinely knew absolutely nothing about it.

Why can they say it so easily? What's even more terrifying is that there's no competition section in the system space. What does that mean? She has to learn on her own. What does that mean? It means that even if she participates in a competition, she will still lose.

Even two days later, when the midterm exam results came out, she still hadn't figured out whether or not to take the exam.

Logically, she shouldn't participate, but if she doesn't participate, wouldn't that prove she's inferior to Zhang Mo and the others?
