Chapter 22: Never Forget

Chu Xu narrowed his eyes and looked at Lin Du. Seeing him rubbing his hands in embarrassment and anxiety, he curled his lips and smiled: "You want me to help you?"

"Can...can I?" Lin Du couldn't hide his expectant look.

He really had no other choice. He had to earn money for Lin Yue's surgery and also pay back Gu Yanchi.

"Aren't you afraid of being noticed by the guests?" Chu Xu hit the nail on the head.

Chu Xu put down the cup and remained silent for a long time.

Lin Du stared nervously at the fingers that were pinched by him, waiting for Chu Xu's reply.

"Okay!" Chu Xu sighed, "I can talk to the boss for you, but I still advise you to go back and think it over first."

"I......"

Chu Xu interrupted Lin Du: "I know you are short of money. Many people here are in the same situation as you. But in the end, they were tortured to the point of being completely exhausted. It is basically impossible for them to go back."

After bidding farewell to Chu Xu, Lin Du kept thinking about his words along the way.

He could tell that Chu Xu was warning him, but he already had no way out. He had already walked through hell, so what was there to be afraid of?

After returning home, Lin Du immediately sent a message to Chu Xu, asking him to help him find a job at the club.

Chu Xu only said: "Just think it over."

Putting down his phone, Lin Du curled up on the bed and hugged himself.

He breathed deeply, praying that everything would get better.

The phone rang, and Lin Du came back to his senses in shock. He looked at the word "creditor" with suspicion, and he didn't dare to look at it as if he was avoiding the plague god.

The ringing stopped, the screen went out, and Lin Du's held breath slowly became smoother.

He hasn't contacted me for some time since the last time I separated from Gu Xinchi.

I picked up the phone and called back. Avoiding the call won't solve any problem.

"Lin Du, you finally answered my call!" Gu Nichi's voice trembled.

"I want to see you."

Lin Du suddenly clenched the phone in his hand and his breathing stopped.

He didn't want to see Gu Xinchi. Every time he saw him, he felt so painful. It was a huge torture both physically and mentally: "It's already late. I...I need to rest."

"Just meet once, okay? I promise I won't do anything out of line with you?" Gu Nishi continued to beg.

Lin Du was silent. He didn't know how to refuse Gu Yanchi. The words were on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't say them.

Just like ten years ago, even if he was unwilling, as long as Gu Renshang asked, he couldn't refuse him.

This problem has continued to this day, even though there was a ten-year break.

Lin Du hated his own cowardice, especially in front of Gu Xinchi, he always felt inferior involuntarily.

Gu Yanchi was obviously a little impatient when he couldn't hear Lin Du's response, but for the sake of his plan, he had to continue pretending to be an infatuated person.

"Are you afraid that your girlfriend will see it?" Gu Nichi smiled bitterly in disappointment.

"No." Lin Du bit his lip, "Where are you?"

"No need, just tell me the address and I can go there by myself." Lin Du said cautiously. He didn't want Gu Xinchi to know where he lived.

After hanging up the phone, Lin Du felt as if someone had severely drained all his strength.

He slumped against the wall and sighed deeply.

Arriving at the agreed address, Lin Du saw from a distance that Gu Xinchi was wearing a gray coat with his hands in his pockets. The cold wind ruffled his hair, but it did not affect his charm at all.

The snow was fluttering and he stood in the snow, looking so beautiful and unreal.

Lin Du hesitated for a moment, but still walked towards Gu Xinchi.

When Gu Nianchi saw Lin Du, a smile appeared on his face. He walked forward and hugged Lin Du gently. Lin Du's body stiffened and he instinctively wanted to push him away, but Gu Nianchi hugged him tighter.

"It's windy here, let's go in." Gu Yinchi naturally took Lin Du's hand and walked into a club.

Lin Du's body was tense, and he pinched his hand silently.

For him, neglecting such intimate behavior was undoubtedly a torture.

Gu Niechi pushed Lin Du's fingers away with his fingertips, rubbing the place where he had pinched her with heartache: "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."

Lin Du turned his face away, not looking into Gu Yanchi's affectionate eyes.

The music in the club was soothing and relaxing. Gu Xinchi found a quiet corner and sat down with Lin Du.

"What would you like to drink?" Gu Xinchi looked at Lin Du with gentle eyes.

Lin Du shook his head. He just wanted to end this meeting quickly.

"Would you like some hot water to warm yourself up?" Gu Nienchi asked softly.

Lin Du nodded blankly: "Okay."

Looking at the strange yet familiar Gu Yanchi, Lin Du's heart was filled with complicated emotions.

He knew that his feelings for Gu Xinchi had always been there, but he had always forced himself to hide them.

His brain thought he had forgotten this person, but he never expected that just by meeting her once, his heart would start to lose control of itself.

Gu Jinchi was the first person in the world who cared for him and took care of him. The warmth he gave him was also the motivation for him to live on.

Lin Du sighed lightly, and suddenly thought of a saying: one should not meet someone too stunning when young, otherwise you will never forget him/her for the rest of your life.
