Chapter 14 This is Glory, Not a Binding (1/2)

"Director Gao, we didn't want to make such a big deal out of this today, but Director Ye and the others have been bullying us too much."

"Leaving aside the honors of Zhou Yue's parents, let's talk about my Zhou Yue."

Liang Guiying wiped her eyes. "She's such an innocent and good girl, yet she's been slandered like this. What mother-in-law or mother could stand it? I've been holding back and haven't taken any drastic measures because I don't want others to have a second chance to smear Zhou Yue and her parents."

Yes, yes, yes.

"I was thinking that if even Director Gao couldn't handle it, I would really go to the military district."

"Don't worry, with me here, Zhou Yue will no longer be bullied by anyone at the cotton mill."

"Zhou Yue is an honest child. She doesn't even speak up when she's being bullied. I'll have to ask Director Gao and the other leaders to take good care of her from now on."

"Of course, of course, Zhou Yue. If you have any problems, just come to me or other leaders in the factory. You don't need to go to great lengths to find someone else. We will definitely solve it for you."

After exchanging pleasantries, Gao Yongde led his subordinates away.

Liang Guiying bowed to the crowd and said, "I'm sorry for making a fool of myself in front of everyone and for causing you all trouble!"

"Hey, what's the big deal? Bad people getting their comeuppance is something we ordinary people are happy to see!"

"By the way, your family has been through so much commotion, have the kids eaten? Don't let them go hungry!"

Liang Guiying quickly brought out the food and filled a small bowl with rice for Zhou Xiaonian: "Does Niannian want Grandma to feed her or will she eat by herself?"

The little girl whispered, "Grandma, please."

Liang Guiying made steamed pork ribs with red dates today, and there was more than half a bowl of soup after steaming.

Zhou Xiaonian was still sick and too weak to take too much supplement at once, so she was only given two sips.

The red date soup was clear and sweet, and the little girl squinted her eyes as she drank it: "Delicious!"

The ribs were steamed for over half an hour, and the meat was neither too tender nor too dry. The little girl grabbed a rib and gnawed on it with great enthusiasm, her mouth covered in a layer of oil: "Delicious!"

Liang Guiying took a moment to feed her a few bites of rice, then let her eat by herself.

Turning around, I saw Zhou Yue eating white rice bite by bite, without even a drop of meat gravy in her bowl, so I knew she hadn't eaten a single piece of meat.

Liang Guiying immediately picked up three pieces for her and pushed the half bowl of red date soup over to her.

"Drink the soup first. I bought two ribs, and there will be more tonight. Don't be stingy, eat them all. I'll also fry an egg tonight. We'll eat steamed meatloaf every year."

As Liang Guiying ate, she said, "Or if you want to eat something else, I'll go buy it tomorrow."

Zhou Yue looked at the half-bowl of soup, then at the ribs in the bowl, and her eyes welled up with tears.

Since her parents passed away, no one has ever served her food. Even when she was closest to Zheng Fangshu, he would only verbally tell her to eat more and gain weight, but all the meat and vegetables on the table ended up in his own stomach.

This was the first time someone had truly cared for her with their actions; the first time someone had directly put meat into her bowl and made her eat all of it.

Liang Guiying was unaware that her few words had stirred up so many of her worries. Seeing that her expression was off, she assumed that she was still troubled by what had just happened.

She opened her mouth, but Zhou Yue spoke first this time: "Thank you, I can do it myself."

The family of three finished their meal quickly.

The little girl was in high spirits today. She had eaten some delicious meat and was so satisfied that she spun around in circles, humming a little tune.

After a while, she got sleepy and reached out to Zhou Yue for a hug: "Mommy, time for bed."

The little girl was so sleepy that she fell asleep in Zhou Yue's arms in just a few minutes.

After settling the child in, Zhou Yue turned around and met Liang Guiying's kind face. She felt a little awkward and said, "Thank you for just now."

Liang Guiying smiled and said, "If I hadn't been there, were you planning to just keep crying and let Yang Lan scold you?"
