Chapter 22 The Poor Girl (1/2)

When the ferry docked at the pier, Liang Guiying saw Uncle Zhong on the shore from afar. She waved to him, and he got off the ferry with a cigarette in his mouth.

The four of them each carried a little bit, and they unloaded all the items from the boat.

Just as Liang Guiying was about to introduce Zhang Fenglian and her daughter to Uncle Zhong, she heard a commotion in front of her and glanced over curiously.

Uncle Zhong said, "These past few days, there's suddenly been a lot more illegally slaughtered pork on the black market. Yesterday morning, the police arrested several meat vendors. According to their confessions, they bought their pigs from villages in the far suburbs. The enforcement team went to the villages to investigate..."

Liang Guiying didn't hear what Zhong Bo said after that; she picked up her things and ran away.

Fortunately, she advised Mr. Zhang against it; otherwise, he would have been caught by the law enforcement team today, and she might have been in big trouble as well.

The tricycle was completely full of things that Liang Guiying brought out, so there was no room for anyone else to sit.

Uncle Zhong said, "Grandma Niannian, I'll take the things back first. You take the bus home first. My son is on vacation today."

Liang Guiying then took Zhang Fenglian and her daughter back to the airport living area.

This wasn't Chen Yingzi's first time in the city, and it was also her first time riding a bus. She was very excited and curious, looking around the whole way. Liang Guiying would introduce the people she knew to her, and for those she didn't, Liang Guiying would look around with her.

We soon arrived at the airport living area.

When Zhang Fenglian and her daughter entered, they were quite flustered. However, seeing that Liang Guiying greeted everyone along the way and everyone responded warmly, the two gradually relaxed.

At this moment, Zhou Xiaonian was squatting in front of the chicken coop, staring at the rooster, while Zhou Yue had just moved the things to a shady spot.

"Mom, look at the chickens!"

When her daughter called, Zhou Yue squatted down to watch the chickens.

Zhou Xiaonian communicated with the largest rooster: "What's your name?"

What are you eating?

The rooster stretched out its neck and let out a series of loud "Cock-a-doodle-doo" sounds, which startled the little girl so much that she fell to the ground.

The little girl immediately got angry: "You bad chicken! I'm not going to be friends with you anymore!"

"Ooh ooh ooh!"

Just as the man and the chicken were arguing fiercely, Liang Guiying came in: "Zhou Xiaonian, my sweet baby~~"

Zhou Xiaonian stopped arguing with the chickens, got up, and rushed into Liang Guiying's arms, crying, "Grandma! Mom! Grandma's back!"

She lifted the little girl up and spun her around a dozen times before finally holding her in her arms. Liang Guiying said to Zhou Yue, "This is my best friend in the village, Fenglian. This is her daughter, Chen Yingzi. Yingzi went to the city to buy some stationery and books."

Hearing that city girls are difficult to get along with and don't like rural people, Zhang Fenglian, fearing it would cause trouble for Liang Guiying, quickly clarified, "We bought some things this afternoon and went back."

Aunt Zhong had told Zhou Yue last night that Liang Guiying would be coming with two people today, so Zhou Yue said, "The biggest Xinhua Bookstore is in Hedong. Take bus number 1 there. I'll go cook noodles."

Liang Guiying then invited Zhang Fenglian and her daughter into the living room, telling them to rest while she went to boil water and make tea.

We had just finished eating our noodles when Aunt Zhong and the others arrived.

Accompanying Aunt Zhong was a woman in her thirties wearing glasses, surnamed Huang. She exuded a reassuring aura, and this must be the doctor arranged by Dr. Zhong.

Dr. Huang was very experienced. With just a few words, he made Chen Yingzi lower her guard. They chatted enthusiastically, one sentence after another. Seeing this, Liang Guiying quietly pulled Zhang Fenglian to the kitchen.

"He's a doctor in the city, he counsels countless students every day, he's very experienced, you don't need to worry."
