Gao Yongde lives on Sifang Road in a detached three-story arcade building with Italian terrazzo flooring and Manchurian windows, a blend of Chinese and Western styles. It has a nice style, but it looks a bit old, which shows that Gao's father's generation was once wealthy.
After Gao Yongde finished his meal, he was watching his father play chess with the neighbors under the eaves when he suddenly saw Liang Guiying. He wondered if he was hallucinating, but after rubbing his eyes, Liang Guiying was already in front of him.
