Chapter 50 A Lifesaving Grace (2/2)

This little girl!

Liang Guiying walked over and picked her up, tickling her until the little girl giggled.

The grandfather and grandson burst into laughter.

At the corner, I ran into a few neighbors. They snorted and turned their heads away.

Liang Guiying just smiled and didn't stop walking, but the little girl stopped smiling and also glared at those people: "Hmph!"

Turn your head away forcefully, leaving the other person with a cute little back of their head.

The little guy is standing up for her.

With such a wonderful grandson, she was completely content.

It started raining heavily in the middle of the night and didn't stop until morning. Liang Guiying was trapped at home and couldn't go out, so she simply stayed home to do some washing and cleaning. Meanwhile, the little girl was watching "Havoc in Heaven" in the living room, using a broom as a magic staff and imitating the little monkey wielding it.

The broom was too long, and the little girl tripped and fell while spinning it. So Liang Guiying cut a tree branch, made it smooth, and let the girl hold it and play with it, while she continued washing and scrubbing.

I've been busy making money as soon as I open my eyes these days, and I haven't spent much time cleaning the house. Some places are even covered with a thin layer of dust.

Around 11 o'clock, the rain stopped and the doorbell rang.

Aunt Wang stood outside the door, looking rather embarrassed. She opened her mouth, unsure of what to say.

Liang Guiying spoke first: "Is Feifei hurt? Did she have nightmares last night?"

Aunt Wang then replied, "My hands and legs were injured in the dragging. I was taken to the hospital last night. The hospital said it was nothing serious, prescribed some medicine, and told us to take it home... I did have a nightmare."

"Children forget things quickly; she'll forget in a few days. We just need to keep a closer eye on her from now on."

"Um."

A moment of silence.

Aunt Wang tugged at the hem of her clothes, glanced at Liang Guiying a few times, and suddenly bowed: "Grandma Niannian, thank you."

Last night, Lin Fang, the daughter-in-law, was taken to the hospital. While she was in labor, a busybody called the nurses' station and told her that Fei Fei was missing. She became emotional and slapped herself. Despite the fact that her baby was about to be born, she cried and went to look for Fei Fei.

If Li Yang hadn't been watching her closely, Lin Fang would have jumped off the building on the spot, killing herself and her unborn child.

Later, Aunt Wang and her husband took Feifei to the hospital. Lin Fang saw with her own eyes that her daughter was safe and sound, and only then did she feel relieved.

Aunt Wang couldn't imagine what kind of suffering her family would have faced if Liang Guiying hadn't been there last night.

“You saved Feifei, you saved Afang, and you saved our whole family. You are our family’s benefactor, Sister Guiying. Thank you.”

Aunt Wang's address of "Sister Guiying" came from the bottom of her heart.

Liang Guiying patted her on the shoulder: "We're all neighbors, it's only right that we help each other out. It's good that the child is alright."

Aunt Wang wiped away her tears, then shared the good news with Liang Guiying: "Sister Guiying, Fang gave birth to a baby boy for Feifei last night. He weighs five pounds and eight ounces and is very healthy."

Liang Guiying smiled and congratulated her, then pulled Aunt Wang to the backyard, pointed to the chickens jumping around in the coop and said, "Catch whichever one you like and take it home to make soup!"

"No need, no need. My chickens are ready to be killed. The doctor said we can't drink chicken soup today. We have to wait until she has milk... Sister Guiying, why don't you kill one for Niannian? I've noticed she's lost weight lately."

Looking at Niannian's chubby little body in the hall, Liang Guiying thought, "Is this what Aunt Wang meant when she said Niannian has gotten thinner?"

However, it's true that we haven't killed a chicken or made soup for Nian Nian for many days.

At noon, the grandmother and granddaughter ate plain porridge and egg pancakes. The little girl was very considerate and finished both the pancakes and porridge: "Grandma's cooking is the best in the world!"

The little girl can now speak in longer sentences and is becoming increasingly talkative. When Liang Guiying accompanies her for her afternoon nap, she keeps chattering about what Aunt Zhong gave her to eat, what Sister Xiulan praised her for, how she helped Grandpa Zhong sell cigarettes, and how she helped Aunt Zhong sweep the floor.

Liang Guiying listened with a smile.

Children don't lie. From the moment the little girl lay down until she fell asleep, she kept talking about the Zhong family. You can imagine how good the Zhong family is to her.

The Zhong family did a lot of work for Zhou Yue, and now they are enduring their disgust to help her take care of Niannian. They are truly kind and benevolent.

The grandmother and granddaughter took a nap. In the afternoon, the rain stopped, and the little girl wanted to go outside to play, so Liang Guiying took her to the open-air cinema.

Several children older than Zhou Xiaonian were already playing there, and their parents were chatting. When Liang Guiying came over, they stopped talking. But when Liang Guiying went to the other side, they continued playing.
