Chapter 31 Food Processing Plant 2 (I already said drinking alcohol hurts your stomach)
After lunch break, Yunxin returned to her office.
An Caiyun washed her face, touched up her makeup, and drank coffee, regaining her radiant appearance.
Upon seeing Yunxin, she looked annoyed, disgusted, and helpless, as if she couldn't ignore her. "I'm going to meet a customer later, do you want to come along?"
There was still a long time before the end of the workday, and Yunxin felt it wouldn't affect her ability to leave on time, so she agreed.
An Caiyun drove the car.
Yunxin sat in the passenger seat.
There was silence for a long time.
An Caiyun, as if struck by a sudden thought, started yelling again, "Have you ever even worked a regular job? What's your attitude towards your seniors in the workplace? Don't you know how to respect others?"
Yunxin: "Respect is mutual. If you don't respect me, I won't respect you either."
An Caiyun, “…”
That damn honesty.
It's said that recent graduates have started to reorganize the workplace. She didn't believe it before, but now she has to.
"Do you still want to be a permanent employee?" An Caiyun changed the direction of her reprimand. "With such a bad temper, you can't even be told off properly. How could the manager possibly agree to make you a permanent employee?"
"Probably." Yun Xin stated matter-of-factly, "The company is short-staffed, the salary is so low, and the requirements are so high. Apart from me, no one else would be willing to come."
An Caiyun became even angrier and retorted sarcastically, "With such a sharp tongue, you must be quite the negotiator. Don't get stage fright when you meet the client later. You can't just be a coward at home and then be speechless in public."
Yun Xin: "You're hardworking and ambitious, and you've signed so many contracts. Is your income higher, or Ding Tianyi's?"
In the blink of an eye, An Caiyun slammed on the brakes, turned around, and glared angrily at Yun Xin.
Yunxin didn't take it seriously and continued to rub salt in the wound, "If the manager asks you to accompany him when he meets with clients, does the resulting sales revenue belong to the manager or to both of you?"
"It's his responsibility." An Caiyun pursed her lips, her eyes showing resentment, but she said, "It's normal for colleagues to help each other. I helped him this time, and he will repay this favor to me sooner or later. It's not a loss in the end."
"I don't believe in anything about sooner or later. All I know is that in the entire sales department, you do the most work, live the most tiring life, and get the lowest salary," Yunxin said listlessly. "You're so picky about me, you can't stand this or that, but I'm very happy. You do things exactly according to your own standards, but I haven't seen you doing well either."
"Get out of the car!" An Caiyun said angrily. "I'll send you the address; figure out how to get there yourself!"
Yunxin opened the car door and obediently got out.
An Caiyun slammed on the gas pedal, leaving Yun Xin behind in an instant.
"She can berate others at will, and others can't retaliate, because touching her sore spot will hurt her deeply. She doesn't oppose evil deeds, but rather the injustice she suffers," Yunxin exclaimed. "What a new breed of villain! I've learned something new."
An Caiyun arranged to meet her client at a bar.
How to describe the environment there?
Dim lighting, loud music—it all looked rather improper.
An Caiyun also booked a private room for easier business discussions.
Yunxin arrived at the bar entrance by taxi, where An Caiyun was looking at herself in the mirror, checking her makeup one last time.
She caught a glimpse of Yun Xin out of the corner of her eye, and a look of disgust crossed her face. But remembering she still had to mentor the newcomers, she could only grit her teeth and bear it.
"Once you're inside, observe more and speak less. If you cause trouble in front of the clients, I can't save you."
"I've always been well-behaved and honest; nothing serious will happen to me," Yun Xin said, not worried at all.
An Caiyun just wanted to roll her eyes.
Since taking over Yunxin's business, she felt like she had aged three years out of nowhere, and nothing she did went smoothly.
If I had known this would happen, I shouldn't have changed the information in the first place.
She'd rather deal with more difficult clients than face Yunxin.
An Caiyun was furious just thinking about it. After confirming that everything was in order, she walked into the bar on her own.
Yun Xin didn't stand there like an idiot; she obediently followed behind. Wherever her senior went, she followed.
After a short while, the two entered the private room and met with their client, Mr. Yang.
"Mr. Yang, I'm sorry to trouble you again this time."
As soon as An Caiyun opened her mouth, General Manager Yang picked up a wine glass and handed it to her, saying, "Come on, let's drink first. Stronger wine means deeper feelings! Once we've had our fill of drinks, we can talk about anything."
An Caiyun's smile faded slightly, then she beamed again, "Of course. Come on, Mr. Yang, let me keep you company with a good drink today!"
Then Yunxin watched as the two of them quickly finished the entire bottle of wine, one glass after another.
"The wine's gone, have the waiter bring more." As he made the call, Mr. Yang noticed Yun Xin and asked curiously, "And who is this?"
An Caiyun replied with a smile, "I'm a new colleague at the company, just coming along to broaden my horizons."
"Why isn't she drinking?" General Manager Yang asked again.
“She…” An Caiyun looked at Yun Xin, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Yunxin offered, "I'm allergic to alcohol and can't drink. If you don't mind, I'll offer you a cup of tea instead."
"Clatter—" Mr. Yang put down his wine glass, looking displeased. "This is pointless. You know I love to drink, so why did you deliberately bring someone who can't drink to discuss business?"
An Caiyun smiled ingratiatingly, "President Yang, she's a new intern, she's a bit naive. But it's alright, I'll drink with you, I'll make sure you're completely satisfied!"
"That's more like it." Mr. Yang's expression softened slightly.
Unexpectedly, Yunxin looked at him and said bluntly, "There's no need to drink so much when discussing business. If the product quality is good and the price is right, then sign the contract. If there's anything you're not satisfied with, just say so, and we'll discuss it slowly. Drinking so much will only hurt your stomach and won't help you at all."
General Manager Yang was dumbfounded. He looked at An Caiyun, "What's wrong with the people you brought? How dare they speak like that!"
"Oh, she's just graduated and doesn't know any better," An Caiyun tried to make amends, while winking at Yun Xin, "Didn't you just say you had something to do at home? Go ahead and take care of it, I can handle things here."
"Drink less, it's bad for your health," Yun Xin said before leaving the private room.
General Manager Yang was furious. "Why are you keeping this kind of employee? Fire him! Fire him immediately!"
“Okay, okay, I’ll talk to the manager when I get back.” An Caiyun agreed without hesitation.
Anyway, she already disliked Yunxin, and before entering the bar she told him to "look more and talk less," but she still caused trouble.
It's just a drink, why are you making such a fuss about an alcohol allergy? You can just go to the bathroom to throw up afterwards!
Offending a client face-to-face means you deserve to be fired by the company.
An Caiyun felt no sympathy whatsoever; on the contrary, she felt quite pleased. She picked up the wine brought by the waiter and poured herself a full glass. "The child is ignorant; I apologize on her behalf. Let's continue drinking; don't worry about her."
After saying that, he downed it in one gulp.
"Great!" General Manager Yang slapped his thigh. "I love straightforward people like you. Come on, let's keep drinking."
One cup after another, and another.
Suddenly, Mr. Yang clutched his stomach, unable to straighten up, "My stomach, why does it hurt so much?"
An Caiyun's cheeks were flushed from drinking, but thankfully she wasn't drunk and was still conscious. Seeing this, she quickly asked, "President Yang, what's wrong? Are you alright, President Yang?"
Mr. Yang was in so much pain that sweat was pouring down his forehead. He managed to squeeze out a few words, "Something's wrong, my stomach hurts, please call an ambulance for me."
An Caiyun stood up with her phone in hand, but lost her balance and swayed. Just as she was about to make a call, Yun Xin pushed the door open and came in. "The ambulance has arrived. Let's get President Yang into the ambulance."
"Huh? So fast?" Mr. Yang was stunned.
"I've told you drinking is bad for your stomach, and I told you to drink less, but you wouldn't listen," Yun Xin complained, and walked out first.
Mr. Yang pondered these words, growing increasingly fearful with each passing thought. He looked at An Caiyun expectantly, forcing a smile, "Who is this new employee of yours? Is she a fortune teller?"
Otherwise, how could we have called the ambulance in advance?
An Caiyun was bewildered; she didn't know either.
As they were talking, medical staff carried a stretcher and lifted Mr. Yang onto it.
Because the situation seemed a bit serious, An Caiyun didn't dare to move the patient and could only stand by anxiously.
Only after the person was carried away did she call out "General Manager Yang" and chase after them.
VIP single room in the hospital.
Inside the door, Mr. Yang and his wife were having a “friendly” conversation.
Mr. Yang's wife: "Drink, drink, drink! You'll drink yourself to death! You're really something, drinking yourself into a stomach perforation!"
Mr. Yang: "Oh, wife, I'm innocent! I... I was just discussing business with someone! I had a few drinks..."
Mr. Yang's wife: "A few drinks and you're covered in the smell of alcohol? Who are you kidding? Did you drink from a vat of liquor?!"
Mr. Yang: "Really! It's about doing business, and they insist I drink it. What can I do?"
Mr. Yang's wife: "Then let's not talk about it! What's the point of making so much money? If you die from a perforated stomach and drink yourself to death, am I supposed to remarry with our son and inheritance?! How old are you? Do you still think you're a young man?"
Mr. Yang: "I understand, I understand. If they try to get me to drink again, I absolutely won't drink a drop. If anyone tries to persuade me to drink again, we're no longer friends!"
Mr. Yang's wife: "That's more like it..."
Outside the door.
The flimsy door couldn't block out the couple's voices at all.
Yunxin heard every single word clearly.
An Caiyun, standing to the side, turned pale when she heard General Manager Yang say "force drinking" and "urge others to drink".
After a while, a woman came out.
She looked him over for a moment, her attitude amiable, and said to Yunxin, "You're the one who called the ambulance to take Lao Yang to the hospital, right? I don't know how to thank you. The doctor said that if he had been brought here any later, his condition would have been very dangerous."
"Fortunately, the ambulance was right outside. As soon as Lao Yang said he had a stomachache, the medical staff rushed over and took him to the hospital."
"By the way, how did you think of calling an ambulance in advance?"
Yunxin explained, "People who drink frequently have liver problems. I noticed his face was yellow, which worried me a bit."
Family members know their own business.
Claims that "others forced him to drink" or "he couldn't refuse when others urged him to drink" are clearly just his own fault for not being able to control himself when he sees alcohol.
The way he drank was so bad that anyone at the table would worry, wondering if they would be held responsible if he drank himself to death.
Calling an ambulance in advance was a bit unexpected, but upon reflection, it makes perfect sense.
Thinking of this, Mr. Yang's wife asked again, "What business are you discussing? Where are you at?"
Yunxin: "We are employees of a food processing plant and we want to sign a contract with General Manager Yang for next year. The specifics... haven't started to be discussed yet."
Mr. Yang's wife got a little angry again.
When they get together, they don't talk about anything serious, all they do is drink!
"No need to discuss it anymore. We've always gotten our goods from you in previous years. The quality is fine, and the prices are fair. We'll continue to buy from you next year." Mrs. Yang made the decision. "Come over sometime tomorrow, and I'll sign the contract with you."
"Thank you, Madam," Yun Xin said with a smile.
An Caiyun had drunk a lot of alcohol, and her face was now deathly pale. She stood aside, fearing that she would be held accountable.
Mr. Yang's wife knew what kind of person her husband was, so she didn't pursue the matter. She only said, "If he wants to drink again when we're discussing business, you all have to stop him. If you can't stop him, call me and I'll deal with him personally."
"Okay, I've got it." Yun Xin nodded seriously. She looked as if she was always ready to tattle on President Yang.
