Chapter Twenty-Eight: The Design Company, Part 5 (I was just there to make up the numbers)

Chapter Twenty-Eight: The Design Company, Part 5 (I was just there to make up the numbers)

After the car exited the tunnel, it took a side road and drove for an hour without any incident.

Lin Qin was bored, so he took out his phone and decided to play a match-3 game to pass the time.

The system then pushed out a new video with the headline, "Tunnel explosion caused by a truck carrying butter and flour catching fire; 11 dead and 3 injured!"

Lin Qin, “…”

Well, suddenly I don't even really want to take a car anymore.

Yunxin noticed the change in her boss's expression and casually mentioned, "If even chartering a car isn't an option, we'll have to walk."

Lin Qin looked at Yun Xin with a horrified expression, as if asking, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Yun Xin looked back innocently, "You're not even willing to walk to see her, and you still dare to say you love her?"

Lin Qin was shocked. Even if it meant walking there to see her idol, wasn't this kind of love too heavy?

Brother Zhao asked quietly, "So, you're planning to walk there?"

"What do you mean 'go'? We'll just take the car!" Lin Qin thought to himself, "A bunch of resentful employees, I think you're trying to murder your boss."

Because of the long detour, it took the group six days to reach their destination, a day longer than expected. By the time they arrived at the next city on their tour, Lin Qin felt like he was on his last legs.

Brother Zhao took out the ticket to check, "The concert officially starts at 7 pm tonight."

Lin Qin immediately perked up, "Where's the stuff?"

Brother Zhao replied, "It's been sent. It was originally sent to the previous city, but after confirming that I couldn't attend the last concert, I had it forwarded here."

"Well done!" Lin Qin excitedly ran to open the package.

"What is it?" Yun Xin asked curiously.

Brother Zhao had a blank expression on his face. "You don't want to know."

Yunxin became even more curious.

A short while later, Lin Qin returned carrying the box. He had kept a glow stick for himself and given Yun Xin and Brother Zhao each a light stick. The light sticks read, "Teacher Kailin, I love you!" and "Teacher Kailin is the best!"

Throughout the journey, no matter what happened, Yun Xin never backed down. But at this moment, she couldn't help but take a step back, her expression full of resistance.

"What are you standing there for? Take it!" Lin Qin urged.

"Whoever loves Karen can have her." Yunxin hid her hands behind her back.

“I’m the boss!” Lin Qin said matter-of-factly. “The boss can ask his employees to get light sticks for him and express his love on his behalf.”

Is this the real reason why some people start companies to organize fan support activities? Yun Xin thought to himself, he felt ashamed to hold up light sticks, but he was determined to express his love for his idol, so he chose a compromise—hiring employees to do these things for him, since he was already being paid.

"No." Yun Xin rarely showed such stubbornness. "Can't you express your love in a more subtle way?"

"What if she doesn't understand if I'm being subtle?" Lin Qin refused to back down.

"Then take it yourself," Yunxin said.

"No," Lin Qin also refused.

The situation reached a stalemate.

Brother Zhao sighed and helplessly stretched out his hand, "I'll take them all, okay?"

Seeing that Brother Zhao had placed one on his knee and raised another above his head, Lin Qin reluctantly agreed.

During this period, he had to be mindful of Yun Xin's mood no matter what he did, to the point that now when he sees Yun Xin, he inexplicably feels inferior to her and dares not go too far in his actions.

"Can't I just wave a glow stick?" Lin Qin picked and chose, then tried to give Yun Xin a glow stick.

"Okay." Yun Xin agreed, and casually waved her glow stick.

Lin Qin looked at the scene and felt that something was not quite right—it looked like they were about to go out and start a brawl with glow sticks at any moment.

"Although there are only three of us, we can create the effect of thirty people cheering! We must make our idol feel the passion and love!" Lin Qin repeatedly reminded them before heading to the stadium.

Yun Xin looked like she was just there to make up the numbers.

Brother Zhao held the light board, utterly indifferent, as if he was about to speak at any moment, "So many demands, why don't you do it yourself?"

Lin Qin shut up in frustration.

As he got into the car, he thought to himself, "How could this happen? He's the boss."

Unfortunately, his secretary, who was always willing to follow orders, and Lu Lei were both honorably injured. Now, the only people left by his side are Yun Xin and Brother Zhao.

Those two are lucky if they don't try to boss him around, let alone obey him.

never mind.

Lin Qin comforted himself, at least he was there, and he would see Kailin in person soon.

Thinking about it this way, he became excited again.

At the entrance of the stadium, fans lined up in long queues, waiting to have their tickets checked.

Lin Qin was in high spirits and became noticeably more talkative. "I got VIP tickets, which guarantee a front-row seat. Everyone else has admission tickets, and whoever goes in first gets to choose their seat. If you arrive late and all the front-row seats are taken, you'll have to sit in the middle or back."

Yunxin and Brother Zhao did not react.

The fans nearby, upon hearing that he had VIP tickets, all cast envious glances at him.

Others, holding regular admission tickets, arrived at the stadium as early as noon to queue, all in an effort to get in as quickly as possible and secure a good spot.

Holding the ticket, Lin Qin was filled with excitement and couldn't wait to go inside.

At 4 p.m., the two side doors to the right of the main entrance of the stadium opened first, and staff came out to start checking tickets.

Fans waiting at other doors were extremely anxious.

For some reason, there were unusually few ticket checkers that day. This directly led to slow entry, and a large crowd gathered outside the stadium.

Just before 6 p.m., music started playing inside the stadium. The fans, thinking the performance had already begun, grew increasingly anxious, and the crowd began to stir.

"Charge!!"

Someone shouted, and the people behind started pushing forward recklessly.

Those in front are caught in a dilemma, unable to move forward or backward.

Gradually, some of the shorter people began to experience difficulty breathing and their vision began to blur, as if they were about to lose consciousness. To make matters worse, there were people in front of them and behind them, leaving them nowhere to retreat but to drift along with the current, being jostled and pushed around by the crowd.

From the very beginning, Yunxin had reminded everyone, "Since it's a reserved seat, don't fight with others. Wait until they go in before you check your ticket."

Lin Qin was so excited that he rushed off to join the queue and didn't listen to anything.

As the crowds surged, Lin Qin was unfortunately caught in the throng.

"Don't push!!" he shouted. "I can't breathe!"

However, the people behind did not move back at all, and the crowded situation did not improve at all.

Some people even climb onto others' backs and step on others' shoulders to move forward.

The scene was chaotic.

Yun Xin watched from the side. Gray fog, gray-black fog, and dark black fog were mixed together, and she could barely see the death countdown that occasionally flashed by.

Yun Xin sighed, took out her phone, and skillfully dialed a number, "Hello, is this the police station?"

At the same time, on the other side, Lin Qin felt someone step on his foot, and in the chaos, it seemed that a short girl had fallen down.

He grew increasingly panicked and roared again, "Calm down! Something bad will happen if this continues!"

Unfortunately, no one paid him any attention.

Lin Qin was swept along in the crowd, being pushed and shoved this way and that.

Finally, he was in despair. Could it be that he had survived the plane crash, the train disaster, and the tunnel explosion, only to meet his end at the stadium entrance?

Just then, a pair of large hands wrapped around his waist and lifted him up.

Lin Qin was stunned, and then he saw that the bodyguard, Brother Zhao, was lifting him up like a child and letting him sit astride his shoulders.

"Don't move." Brother Zhao's expression was serious. "There are many people here, and I may not be able to protect you."

Because I was sitting high up, my breathing was noticeably easier. It's just that I was too conspicuous and many people saw me.

But losing face is better than losing your life.

Lin Qin disregarded his embarrassment and obediently sat on Zhao Ge's shoulder, helping him clear a path.

Brother Zhao was indeed quite capable. He was strong and muscular, so the crowd around him wasn't too intense. He didn't push his way in or out; he simply found a corner and stood there, patiently waiting for the crowd to regain its composure.

Yunxin called the police, asked a staff member for a megaphone, and walked to the far side to shout, "A girl has fainted from suffocation, please hand her out first!"

"Don't step on it, there's someone under your feet."

"Stay calm, don't move."

Most of what they said were slogans, but their advantage lay in their loud voices. Gradually, some people started to listen.

After calming down and seeing the horrific scene in front of the stadium, everyone felt a wave of fear and stopped trying to squeeze in, instead trying to retreat to the outside.

Because they had been so excited, some people were trapped at the bottom, unable to move. Those on top were piled up like a human pyramid, one on top of another, and no one could escape.

After Yunxin finished speaking, seeing that everyone was willing to cooperate, she handed the megaphone to a passerby so she could continue shouting. She then rolled up her sleeves and helped with the rescue.

There were so many people piled on top of each other, it was really hard to pull them out. The only way was to get help from the people around them, to push them out, or to step on their shoulders or backs.

Yunxin lent a hand again and got the person out.

Time passed by minute by minute.

The situation is gradually improving.

As the police arrived and joined the rescue efforts, more and more people were saved.

Zhao Ge seized the opportunity and brought the vengeful boss out, saying, "Now you know how dangerous it is, right? Don't run around like that next time."

Lin Qin wanted to retort; he wasn't a three-year-old. But the things he had done were increasingly dangerous, to the point that he had no right to say anything.

So in the end, he reluctantly shut his mouth and obediently accepted the scolding.

Yun Xin then said, "I warned you not to go in, but you ignored me."

Brother Zhao scoffed, "He's focused on listening to the live version, he doesn't have the energy to care what you're saying."

"Who could have imagined things would turn out like this?" Lin Qin looked at the people groaning on the ground and the unconscious fans, still shaken. "The people behind me were like madmen, pushing forward desperately. Some even went crazy, constantly elbowing the people around them. I was hit several times myself."

He rubbed his chest as he spoke, feeling like he had wasted his time coming here.

“Someone has suffocated and lost consciousness,” Yun Xin guessed. “The elbow strike was probably to create space around himself so he wouldn’t suffocate.”

Brother Zhao looked at the grumbling boss, "I threw away the light stick to free up my hands. Are you still going to watch the show?"

Lin Qin had completely lost interest in watching the concert. But if he wasn't going, what was the point of all that trouble he'd gone through this week, escaping death several times? Was it all just to walk to the stadium entrance?

"Go in, you're already here."

Lin Qin hung his head, looking listless.

There were hardly any people left in front of the stadium at this moment. Fans had either gone in with their tickets or were injured and taken away by ambulances.

Yunxin walked in without any hindrance.

The transparent panel pops up at the appropriate time.
