Chapter 16: "Suspicion and silence are undesirable evils in marriage."
Seeing Ni Yang's confused expression, Wen Shuhua's eyes became more calculating.
She moved closer to Ni Yang and looked at her with heartache.
"That girl's name is Su Xiaoyu. She was the girl Si Yu met on his first business trip to London after taking over Yi'an. He brought her back with him when he returned to China and arranged for her to go to school. A year ago, Si Yu used his position to send her to the London branch."
"He lives in London now. There's nothing going on at the branch office this time, so he went there... Oh, I shouldn't have said that. You two are newlyweds, so your relationship is naturally good. I overstepped my bounds."
She seemed to be hesitant to speak, with a look of pity overflowing from her face.
Ni Yang watched Wen Shuhua's performance quietly, and matched her expression of surprise and hurt.
She didn't believe everything she said, but the girl she was talking about must be real.
Although she and He Siyu got married without any love, she still had to give him trust and a chance to explain.
Simply listening to what others say about him is prejudice and disrespectful.
Ni Yang put down the teacup and said, "Thank you Aunt Wen for telling me. I will call Si Yu to find out the truth."
Wen Shuhua's face froze, and her false eyelashes trembled slightly. "Yangyang, men won't tell the truth. Even if you ask him, he will only say that they are innocent. You are still young and don't know the bad nature of men. Listen to your aunt, investigate privately, and confront Si Yu after you get the evidence."
"Given how much your uncle and aunt love you, they will definitely protect you. By then, we'll have evidence in hand, and it won't matter if Si Yu disagrees with the divorce."
Ni Yang leaned his arms on the armrest of the sofa, looking lazy and unfocused, glancing at the woman who was speaking without blinking.
Wen Shuhua acted as if she was doing it for her own good, and her words all showed that she hoped they would get divorced and that the fact that He Si was having a lover outside would be exposed to the public.
Judging from Mr. Ni and Ms. Ling's temper, they will definitely not let He Siyu go. By then, his reputation will be ruined and President Yi An's position will definitely be in jeopardy.
The only one who benefited from this was Hechuan Han's family.
She had just decided to marry He Siyu, but Wen Shuhua couldn't control his temper. Was it to gain control of the family, or to pave the way for He Huaichi (the second son of the He family)?
Unfortunately, she didn't expect that she and He Siyu had no feelings for each other, and even the marriage was a cooperation negotiated by her.
Without feelings, there is naturally no expectation or betrayal.
Ni Yang had no intention of dealing with Wen Shuhua. She just wanted to live her life quietly. She leaned over and picked up her cell phone from the coffee table.
Wen Shuhua asked anxiously: "What is Yangyang going to do?"
Ni Yang dialed He Siyu's cell phone number, called him directly, and pressed the hands-free button without hesitation.
He waved the phone screen at Wen Shuhua innocently.
"Call Si Yu and ask about the situation. If it's a misunderstanding, Aunt Wen won't have to worry about me."
Wen Shuhua's face suddenly turned pale. She looked at He Siyu's name on the phone screen. The beeping sound from the speaker made her breathing disordered and her heart almost jumped out of her throat. The fingers on her legs curled up and trembled slightly.
She glared at Ni Yang. At the engagement party, she saw how she treated Qi Huaiyu and thought she would be someone who would not tolerate any grain of sand in her eyes.
Which girl can tolerate her husband having a family outside?
If you know that he might cheat on you, you must secretly collect evidence so that you can get more property after the divorce.
How could a child like Ni Yang, who grew up being loved, be willing to suffer such grievances?
But why didn't she play by the rules? If she called He Siyu, she would be exposed and the false evidence she had prepared would be useless.
No, not necessarily. He Siyu is a strong person who does not tolerate any questioning. He may not explain to Ni Yang at all, and may even scold her for being distrustful and meddling in other people's affairs.
She comforted herself that He Siyu would not explain to Ni Yang.
Ni Yang watched Wen Shuhua's reaction the whole time. Seeing her extremely bad face and stiff body, he knew that ninety-nine percent of what she said was false.
The phone vibrated and the call was connected.
He Siyu's voice came out first.
"What's wrong?"
The gentle voice made Wen Shuhua's nerves jump, his hands shook uncontrollably, and he sat upright with a forced smile.
Ni Yang curled her lips and looked at Wen Shuhua innocently, then said to the phone, "Si Yu, Aunt Wen came to our house to see me. She told me that you were on this business trip for a girl named Su Xiaoyu. Is that true?"
He Siyu sneered and asked her, "Do you believe it?"
Ni Yang leaned lazily on the sofa, scratching her temples lightly with the lotus root pink nude nail polish on her index finger, looking soft and cute.
"We are husband and wife, so of course I believe you. But what Aunt Wen said is too true, so I wanted to ask you and listen to your explanation. Aunt Wen happened to be here too, so I turned on the hands-free mode and asked her to listen. She must not misunderstand you."
He Siyu sat in the office, listening to Ni Yang's soft and cunning voice, and knew that she did not believe Wen Shuhua's words.
But he was still prepared to explain, not for Wen Shuhua, but because Ni Yang was his wife, and he couldn't let other people's words cause her to misunderstand and resist him.
"Ni Yang, Su Xiaoyu is a girl I met on the streets of London on my first business trip after taking over Yi'an. She was chased by her stepfather to an intersection and fell on my car covered in injuries. She begged me to save her. Maybe I was kind back then."
"I had someone take her to the hospital and arranged accommodation for her. I also took her with me when I returned to China. She was 20 years old at the time, and I sponsored her schooling. A year ago, she submitted her resume to Yi'an. She got in on her own merit, not because I abused my power."
"As for why I came to London on business this time, I believe Ms. Wen will find out soon."
"Ni Yang, don't listen to what others say about me. That's prejudice. What I said at your house was the truth. I don't have a lover or an ex. I'm clean both physically and mentally."
"Ms. Wen, spreading rumors is illegal. Do you need a court summons?"
Every word He Siyu said was transmitted to every corner of the living room through the loudspeaker. Wen Shuhua's face became extremely ugly. She clenched her hands tightly and could no longer maintain her smile.
He hurriedly said sorry and said goodbye to Ni Yang and left.
Ni Yang stood up and walked to the door, leaning against the door frame and watching Wen Shuhua fleeing with a smile.
Before she hung up the phone, she turned off the speakerphone with a smile and put the phone to her ear.
"I believe you, He Siyu."
Because she guessed that he was saving herself who had been beaten.
"Ni Yang, if something like this happens again, just call me directly or ask me in person, like today, and I will tell you everything."
"Suspicion and taciturnity are undesirable evils in marriage."
Perhaps it was a resonance of souls, Ni Yang was stunned, and the excitement of finding a close friend was reflected in his brown eyes.
Few people share her view on marriage: people have mouths that are used for eating and talking.
When people get along with each other, it is better to be honest and open than to have wild thoughts.
"He Siyu, I'll pick you up at the airport on the day you come back. I'll bring marshmallows with me."
