The house where Lan Xiaolan lives is outside the Living Cemetery City.
There is a river behind the house. If you drive along the river, you will reach the church in the north of the city in less than a few minutes.
Accompanied by Chen Yian and Li Ping, Lan Xiaolan walked along the river towards the Tomb of the Living.
About one kilometer away from the church, by the river, Lan Xiaolan saw a man setting up a scaffold in the distance.
The fluttering clothes were neatly hung out to dry on the river bank.
Through the scattered gaps in the clothes, I seem to see a familiar figure lying leisurely behind the washed clothes.
"Sister Lan, look, is that angry silk?"
Lan Xiaolan looked over and saw Nusi lying flat on her back, hiding behind her clothes and reading with great interest.
She had a braided hair, which she didn't put up, but let hang casually on her shoulders.
Nusi hadn't taken care of her hair for a long time, and her messy split ends were exposed.
She was wearing a tattered black dress, which had been tortured to pieces. There were holes of various sizes on the upper part of the dress, and the hem of the dress had been torn beyond recognition.
Nusi's bracelet was still locked with an iron chain as thick as her arm. From a distance, she looked like a prisoner who had escaped.
But Nusi didn't care about her outfit at all. She crossed her legs and lay on the lawn happily reading a book, looking very happy.
Lan Xiaolan and the others got out of the car and slowly approached.
Hearing the noise, Nusi immediately jumped up from the grass in panic, picked up the dagger in her hand, and looked around vigilantly.
Seeing Nusi pick up the weapon, Li Ping and Chen Yian immediately took out their guns and stood in front of Lan Xiaolan.
"Who are you?"
"Nusi, it's me." Lan Xiaolan walked quickly in front and blocked the guns of the two soldiers.
Seeing Lan Xiaolan, Nusi quickly put away the dagger and ran over like a child.
There were heavy iron chains tied to her feet, but it did not affect her joyful steps at all.
Lan Xiaolan and Nusi hugged each other like old friends who met in a foreign land.
"You guys are here."
"I promised you I'd come see you in a few days, and here I am."
"Xiaolan, thank you. I'm very happy to see you."
Nusi was trying hard to learn Chinese. When she saw Lan Xiaolan, she could barely respond fluently.
Lan Xiaolan raised the chain in her hand, pointed at the clothes on the shore, and asked with a puzzled look: "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, they're afraid they can't beat me, so they tie me up like this all the time. I'm used to it."
Then Nusi took Lan Xiaolan's hand and introduced excitedly: "I am different from them because I don't go out to pick up customers to make money, but now I have a share of the church's meals."
"So I do all the heavy work like washing and cooking. Look, I'm doing the laundry right now."
"Washing clothes, I clearly saw you hiding behind the clothes and sleeping."
Nusi covered her mouth and smiled: "It's just washing a few pieces of clothes, what's so difficult about it. I always deliberately run a long way to wash the clothes, and when the clothes are done, I will secretly read a book here."
"Look, these hanging clothes are hiding me, so they can't see me. I'll go back in the evening and cook for everyone."
"If they look at me less, I'll suffer less... less... less physical pain."
It's really hard for her that she even uses idioms.
Lan Xiaolan looked at Nu Si and thought she was somewhat cute. She was completely different from the madwoman who killed and fought without regard for her life as described by Li Ping.
"Xiao Lan, it's a good thing you're here. I can't understand a few words in the book. How about you teach me?"
Lan Xiaolan was pulled by her to sit on the grass, and she was flipping through the book seriously. The book she was reading today happened to be a Chinese book.
It is a picture book with comics for primary school students and some simple text.
The book was filled with notes, and Nusi circled all the words she had never seen or recognized.
Such a serious attitude towards learning really made Lan Xiaolan admire him.
The two of them sat together like this, cuddling together. Lan Xiaolan carefully taught her the pronunciation of each word, and Nu Si learned diligently without being ashamed to ask questions.
Chen Yian scratched his head, looking incredulous.
As new recruits, they had seen angry silk when they first arrived in Country E.
At that time, she was working behind the pastor in the church when a group of bullies came from other places to rob and steal things.
Before the army arrived to maintain order, Nusi, a girl, knocked the six big men to the ground with just a few moves.
There was an ungrateful villain who was about to rush over with a knife. Nusi took out a pistol and shot the man's hand with one shot.
If it weren't for the pastor who kept persuading her not to kill, I'm afraid none of the robbers would have walked out of the church alive.
Because of this incident, Nusi became even more famous, and no one dared to act wildly in the church.
However, there is always a group of people who are not afraid of death. They regard Nusi as a thorn in their eyes and a thorn in their flesh, and have tried to kill her again and again.
That is the group of orphans in the church, led by Xia Tasha.
"Nu Si, you've really been hiding here and being lazy instead of working. Let's see how we're going to beat you to death today."
Lan Xiaolan wore the simultaneous interpretation headphones given by Ren Tingxi when she went out today, so she could hear every word Xia Tasha said clearly.
