Chapter 21 The answer to the mystery is getting closer

Lan Xiaolan and Ren Tingxi were both frightened by the shouting coming from behind.

Xu Guangzhi's shout was indeed loud and clear, comparable to the one Zhang Fei used to scare off the enemy at Changbanpo.

Ren Tingxi used one hand to block Lan Xiaolan behind him. When Ren Tingxi came to negotiate with Xu Guangzhi about the demolition, he had been beaten twice by him.

In Ren Tingxi's eyes, he was a rude and unreasonable madman, and he would not let Lan Xiaolan suffer any harm.

Xu Guangzhi recognized Ren Tingxi at a glance when he saw his fair face and the suit he was wearing.

He immediately grabbed a stick and rushed over: "I recognize you, aren't you the designer of that rotten bridge? How dare you come to me?"

"That's not a rotten bridge, it's the largest cross-river bridge in our city." Ren Tingxi was defending his last bit of dignity, as naive as a child.

Xu Guangzhi waved the stick excitedly. "I don't care about the bridge across the river. I get upset just by seeing you. Isn't it enough that you demolished my house? You still dare to come after me?"

Xu Guangzhi became more and more excited as he spoke, and the wooden stick was really about to hit Ren Tingxi in the face.

"Brother Xu, Brother Xu, please be patient, please be patient. Listen to me, aren't we here today to talk about the bridge?" Lan Xiaolan pulled Ren Tingxi away and stood in front of him.

Looking at it this way, it feels a bit like "beauty saves the hero".

Xu Guangzhi looked Lan Xiaolan up and down. She was wearing a black T-shirt and denim overalls, with a simple bun on her head. She didn't look like she was in the same group as Ren Tingxi, who was dressed in a suit.

The girl looks pretty, and a bit weak and easy-going.

But he did not let down his guard, still waving the stick in his hand and asking: "Who are you, coming to see me, what do you want?"

"I'm a staff member of our provincial Cultural Relics Protection Bureau and Research Institute. Brother Xu, please take a look. This is my work ID."

Xu Guangsheng looked at Lan Xiaolan's work ID card. It was indeed written on it that it was the Cultural Relics Protection Bureau, and it was also stamped with a five-pointed star seal. Only then did he relax his vigilance a little.

"You're from the Cultural Relics Bureau? Why are you looking for me? I don't even know you."

"She came to you because she wanted to learn something about the ancient site..."

Originally, Ren Tingxi wanted to talk about the ancient tomb at the construction site, but before he could finish his words, Lan Xiaolan covered his mouth and pushed him behind her.

"About the recent discovery of ancient artifacts!"

"Cultural relics? What cultural relics? What does it have to do with me?"

"Brother Xu, look." Lan Xiaolan said as she took out a few photos from her backpack. Those were photos of the few ceramic plates that were discovered during the excavation of the ancient tomb.

"Recently, someone sent a message to our Cultural Relics Bureau saying that someone was selling ancient ceramics near Shimo Village. After analysis by our professionals, we found that this is incredible. These are cultural relics that are over 2,000 years old!"

Xu Guangzhi looked at Lan Xiaolan, then at the photo, thinking about something. But he was skeptical about what Lan Xiaolan said.

"These are just broken dishes and bowls, and what do they have to do with me?" Xu Guangzhi said as he let go of his hands and shook his head, but his feet were pacing back and forth in a daze.

"But the person who bought these cultural relics said that he bought them from someone in Shimo Village."

"He said the seller told him that there's a group of people with the surname 'Xu' in Shimo Village. They've been living there for thousands of years and are an ancient race."

"There's a group of professional tomb robbers who are targeting the cultural relics in Shimo Village. The photos I have are of the cultural relics they stole."

"They've already stolen the first batch of artifacts and are selling them on the market for a hefty sum. The tomb robbers are really targeting these artifacts."

"The thieves have tasted the sweetness, so they won't stop. If they succeed again, it would be terrible if these cultural relics were to fall into the hands of the public or be damaged."

Lan Xiaolan tells this non-existent story vividly.

Ren Tingxi also knew that the photos in her hands were not stolen by tomb robbers, but cultural relics unearthed along with the twelve corpses from the ancient tomb at the cross-river bridge construction site a few days ago.

Lan Xiaolan told Xu Guangzhi these false stories with three parts acting and seven parts truth. Even Ren Tingxi almost believed them.

"Those are damned bastards who dared to steal these things and make money! If I knew who they were, I would catch them and use them as target practice!"

Xu Guangzhi's brows were furrowed, his eyes flashed with anger, and his lips were tightly pursed together, revealing a firm and resolute expression.

His face turned red with anger, and the veins on his forehead and cheeks bulged as if they were about to explode.

"Well, Brother Xu, listen to me..."

"I'm friends with Mr. Ren, and he mentioned that you're from Shimo Village, and your last name is 'Xu,' so I begged him to let me meet you."

She pulled Ren Tingxi's arm, blinked at Ren Tingxi's eyes, and winked at him vigorously, hoping that he could cooperate with her and smooth things over.

He immediately understood what Lan Xiaolan meant and nodded: "It is exactly as she said."

When Ren Tingxi spoke, it was like a fox stepping on a tiger's tail, making Xu Guangzhi even more furious.

"Our village used to be peaceful. It's because of you damn people who touched our land and made our ancestors unhappy that so many bad things happened."
