Chapter 39 How Could He Know?

Luo Yingying and Leng Lie were here, eating beef hotpot and chatting about Lan Xiaolan and Ren Tingxi.

We ate with great enthusiasm and chatted happily.

But in such a prosperous city with bright lights and wine, some people are happy while others are sad.

After the staff who came to the B&B to collect evidence left, Ren Tingxi sat in the room with a bored look on his face, his eyes wandering around aimlessly, as if looking for something to pass the time.

The room seemed exceptionally empty. Apart from himself, there was no other figure or object that could attract his attention.

He sat quietly, as if blending into the surrounding environment, but also seemed to be surrounded by an invisible sense of loneliness.

Seeing that the door of the room where Lan Xiaolan had lived before was not closed yet, he walked over slowly.

Pushing the door, the smell and scent of Lan Xiaolan seemed to come from inside.

Everything came so suddenly and ended so quickly.

The person has indeed left, and his stay here, reluctant to leave, seems particularly pale and useless.

He quietly left the B&B and sat in the Audi parked downstairs.

Fasten your seat belt, start the engine, and the only sound you can hear in the quiet environment is the "booming" sound.

He held the steering wheel with his hands, but fell into endless contemplation.

In this huge city, the lights are bright.

After night falls, the street lights on both sides of the street and the lights of tall buildings complement each other, forming a dazzling night scene.

People in the city are busy shuttling between the streets, and cars are flowing continuously, as if the whole city is lit up.

Every corner is filled with prosperity and bustle, making people feel the energy and vitality of this city.

But Ren Tingxi didn't know whether there was a place of tolerance for him in such a prosperous city.

He actually bought a house in S City a long time ago. He bought it with the money he earned from working and taking on projects.

It has nothing to do with the so-called "Ren family".

He had lived there since his internship at university, but to him, the house was just a place to stay.

Or perhaps, in the Yihe Villa, which is located in the east of the city, backed by mountains and facing the sea, there is an entire villa of the Ren family compound.

Ren Tingxi's parents, brother and sister-in-law lived there, and of course there was also a room reserved for him.

Perhaps it could barely be called Ren Tingxi's home, but that so-called "home" made him feel extremely strange and depressed.

Unless his eldest brother was seriously ill, he was unwilling to step into the door of that "home".

Who knows what kind of people live behind those magnificent and splendid decorations?

They may be wealthy businessmen with endless wealth and power; they may be famous politicians who hold the fate of the country in their hands; or they may be artists who embellish the world with their talent and creativity.

But what is certain is that they are definitely not ordinary people and are destined not to live an ordinary and happy life.

However, these superficial splendors cannot fully reveal the true face of each person.

Some people may be empty inside, pursuing material enjoyment but neglecting spiritual nourishment; some people may be hidden, with unknown stories and secrets behind them.

Beneath this flashy exterior, the inner world of everyone living in this "home" is different and full of complexity and contradictions.

Ren Tingxi is unwilling to go back to that "home". He is unwilling to change this home, but he also does not want to be changed by this "home".

He squeezed the card Professor Bai gave him. On it was the address of the current research institute, or perhaps the person he wanted to see was there.

So he stepped on the accelerator and drove away.

Ren Tingxi never dreamed that the person he had been looking for for 8 years was actually so far away and yet so close at hand.

He had passed by the gate of the institute countless times, but he never imagined that the place he had been looking for was actually here.

He circled the institute several times and finally stopped not far from the back door.

He asked the security guard and found out that there was a house at the back door, which was usually used as a place for the staff of the institute to stay and rest.

There were faint twinkling lights inside the building, like stars hanging in the night sky, blinking and emitting faint light.

Ren Tingxi didn't know which light could illuminate his long-silent heart.

He leaned lazily on the driver's seat, his hands hanging naturally, and tilted his head to watch the lights of the building outside go out one by one.

He didn't dare close his eyes until the last faint white light was still trembling.

Ren Tingxi didn't know why, but he was terrified. He wasn't afraid of the pitch-black night, but of not being able to see the person he wanted to see.

Suddenly, in the room where the lights were on, a thin figure carrying a bucket walked out of the door.

Sure enough, it was that familiar figure.

Lan Xiaolan had a towel wrapped around her head and was wearing a pure white ice silk suspender pajamas dress. She was holding a bucket in one hand and a clothesline in the other, and was about to go out to hang out the clothes.

As soon as Ren Tingxi saw Lan Xiaolan coming out, he sat up straight and all his sleepiness disappeared.

Lan Xiaolan hung up the clothes but did not leave immediately. She untied the scarf on her head and wiped her wet hair.

"Today's moonlight is so beautiful." It's still a few days until the Mid-Autumn Festival on August 15th. The moon hanging in the night sky is not very round.

But the bright moonlight hung in the sky like a silver plate, emitting a bright and soft light.
