Lan Xiaolan scattered a basket full of magnolia flowers that she had picked herself on her mother's grave.
Then she squatted down and helped her father to tidy up the weeds around her mother's grave.
"You probably won't be able to come back in the next few years. Take advantage of the nice weather today and say goodbye to your mother."
"I'm here, go quickly." Lan Tian said to his daughter kindly and gently.
"Okay, Dad." After saying that, Lan Xiaolan placed the food her mother loved to eat, which her father had prepared, in front of her mother's tombstone.
Then she picked up a tissue and a cotton swab and carefully wiped the dirt and dust off the tombstone.
"Mom, I'm back to see you again this year. Are you doing well in the fairyland beyond the mountains?"
"I picked a basket full of magnolias for you this year. The number is three times as much as in previous years. Come and take a look. Do you like them?"
Lan Xiaolan was wiping her mother's tombstone as she spoke. Suddenly, she slowed down her movements and looked sad.
"But... the reason I picked three times as much for you this year is because... because my daughter probably won't be able to come back to see you for the next three years."
"Please don't be angry with me. When I come back, I will pick more magnolias for you, Mom. What do you think?"
Old Mrs. Bai looked at her granddaughter who was talking to herself over there, her heart full of doubts. She moved her body with difficulty and leaned towards the tombstone.
"What's wrong? Where are you going? Why can't you come to see your mother? You know, your mother is the person who loves you the most in this world."
Lan Xiaolan turned her head and smiled at her grandma.
"I passed the PhD entrance exam last year, and now I have already secured a job in China."
"My doctoral research topic is abroad, so I need to stay there for a few years. It's not easy to return to China, and I may not be able to visit my mother in the next few years."
Old Mrs. Bai nodded with satisfaction. Her granddaughter was truly amazing. She had even been admitted to a doctorate program.
Then she glanced at the yellow-haired boy who was supporting her and shook her head in disappointment.
"Grandma, why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?"
"There's something on your face, and something's missing."
"oh?"
The young boy touched his cheek and asked curiously, "Grandma, what am I missing?"
"You lack ambition!" Old Mrs. Bai picked up her cane and tapped the top of the head of the dishonest young man.
The young man was very tall, at least 185cm tall. In order to hit him, the old lady Bai had to tiptoe with difficulty, which looked very funny and cute.
"Grandma, please don't hit me. I'm not afraid of giving you a headache, I'm afraid you'll fall down."
"If you get hurt, it won't just be my headache. My dad will break my legs." The young man shook Grandma Bai's hand and even started to act coquettishly.
The young man, who was 185cm tall, could actually act like a spoiled child. Lan Xiaolan was also amused by the man in front of her.
"Grandma, who is he?"
"This is your uncle's son, Bai Qiaosong." After saying that, Old Lady Bai hit Bai Qiaosong's calf with her cane again.
"Grandma! Why did you hit me again? It hurts so much!"
"This is your aunt's daughter, you should call her cousin. You little brat, why don't you go and say hello?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he was ready to hit him with a stick.
Fortunately, Bai Qiaosong was flexible enough and jumped behind Lan Xiaolan: "Sister! Cousin! My dear sister! Come and save me quickly!"
When Old Mrs. Bai saw her grandson who dressed strangely and liked to do all sorts of weird things all day long, she got a headache.
If he could be half as obedient and sensible as Lan Xiaolan, he would be the old man's spirit from heaven, and his ancestors' graves would be filled with joy.
So today I brought him here to pay tribute to Bai Ruozhu and to meet his sister.
Lan Xiaolan looked carefully at her cousin, whose attire was indeed unique.
His hair was dyed a gray with some dark green in it, and it was gelled and styled in an exaggerated style.
His face was lightly made up, and his eyes were covered with brown-gray eyeshadow, making his eyes look deep and mysterious.
There was obviously some lip gloss and lip balm on his lips, which made his unruly handsome face look more refreshed.
Wearing a black leather jacket inlaid with metal rivets and chains, he showed his unruly personality.
She wore ripped jeans on the lower body, revealing her fair skin at the knees, and a pair of high-heeled leather Martin boots on her feet, which increased her height and momentum.
There was a long conical silver-white earring hanging on her ear, sparkling with dazzling light.
Some exaggerated accessories are worn on the hands and neck, and every detail exudes a unique style.
When Mr. Bai was alive, the Bai family was a family with very strict family traditions. Now, this cousin with strange clothes is really incompatible with the impression of the Bai family.
So it’s no wonder why Old Mrs. Bai sighs every time she sees her grandson.
"Grandma, if I can't come to see Mom, please pick some flowers for her next time you come."
"When my mother was alive, she loved to stare at the flowers and trees. She would definitely be happy."
"Ah..." Old Mrs. Bai shook her head helplessly: "Grandma is already half buried in the ground. I took off my shoes and socks tonight. I don't know if I will wear them tomorrow."
