Chapter 78 Doubt, temptation?

Gu Xiuyuan was becoming increasingly irritated by the recent rumors. The investigation into He Yanzhi had yielded no unusual results, but there had also been no progress.

When I got home from work, Ji Shuyu was sitting in the living room chatting with her grandmother. Listening to their laughter, the irritability in my heart was soothed a little.

When the old lady saw her grandson coming back, she immediately came forward to show off: "Look, this is the silk scarf my Xiaoyu bought me. Isn't it beautiful?"

“I bought it with my own salary.”

Looking at his grandmother's childish appearance, Gu Xiuyuan smiled: "It looks good!"

"My little Yu is so considerate," the old lady said, leaning over and kissing her cheek. "I have a dinner date with some friends tonight, so I might just go home. You don't have to wait for me."

As she said that, the old lady picked up her phone to make an appointment with her friends!

Ji Shuyu smiled helplessly. What's the point of eating? It's just to show off.

But it was just an ordinary silk scarf, and only grandma would treat it as a treasure.

"It's the thought that counts." Gu Xiuyuan hugged her from behind and kissed her face gently. "Where's mine?" He held out his hand.

Ji Shuyu suppressed her laughter, patted his palm, and then said seriously: "No."

"I haven't been working for a full month yet. Even with the red envelope from Sister Manning, I don't have much money. Let's wait until next month!" She said and ran away to help her grandmother match clothes.

Gu Xiuyuan smiled helplessly. He rubbed his neck tiredly, then walked to the sofa and sat down.

He accidentally knocked the bag off the coffee table and a box fell out of it.

When I opened it, there was a cufflink inside.

It’s not an expensive item and the style is simple, but it looks very beautiful.

As he looked at her, a smile suddenly appeared at the corner of his lips, and then he turned around to look at the little girl who was chatting with her grandmother.

"Little liar."

The haze in my heart was swept away, and then I pretended that I didn't see anything and put the cufflinks back on.

The old lady left Yuyuan under the pretext of having dinner with friends, and then went straight home.

It can be seen that what she said before about being lonely, needing companionship, and her son making her unhappy were all excuses.

Gu Xiuyuan felt helpless, but he had to admit that it was his grandmother who saved their relationship in time.

After get off work, Ji Shuyu dragged the exhausted Xiao V into the milk tea shop and bought her milk tea and a small cake.

Little V held the cup and took two deep sips, then he let out a long sigh, as if he had finally come back to life.

Ji Shuyu was amused and pushed her own cake in front of her. "Are you under a lot of pressure?"

"It's more than just stressful, it's huge."

As she was gesturing exaggeratedly, a voice came from behind her.

"Miss Ji?"

Hearing the sound, Ji Shuyu turned around.

It turned out to be Mo Chen and He Yanzhi.

"Mr. Mo, Mr. He." Ji Shuyu stood up with a smile. "What a coincidence."

When this "Mr. Mo" was listed alongside Mr. He, Mo Chen felt a bit pressured, but he still agreed. "What a coincidence."

Little V looked at the two people who suddenly appeared, and silently took a sip through the straw.

Her intuition told her that she should get out of the way.

"You are Designer Ke's assistant, right?" Mo Chen looked at Xiao V.

Little V blinked. Hadn’t they met twice before?

Why was he acting like it was the first time he saw her?

"Oh, yes!" she agreed.

"I just happened to have something I wanted to talk to you about. Is now convenient?"

"Convenient, convenient." Little V nodded hurriedly, picked up her bag and left.

Although she had only met He Yanzhi twice, she was scared of him from the bottom of her heart.

The two walked inside, and Ji Shuyu looked at Xiao V and felt something was strange.

"Can we sit together?"

"Of course." Ji Shu smiled.

He Yanzhi sat down. She looked much better than before, and finally a smile appeared on her face.

"Mr. He, would you like something to drink?" she asked.

"No, thank you." Thinking of the cup of milk tea before, He Yanzhi was full of rejection in his heart, but looking at her trying to hold back her laughter... he probably guessed in his heart that it was Mo Chen's doing.

Thinking about the time when she saw him drunk, he gritted his teeth secretly, then calmly picked up the phone: Give me the plan I asked you for at noon as soon as possible.

"Isn't it three days?"

'Late'

'Okay, God.'

Ji Shuyu looked at He Yanzhi and remembered the thank-you gift in her bag.

"Mr. He, I just happened to meet you and Mr. Mo today." She took out her cufflinks. "This is a little gift from me. Thank you for saving me."

"It's just a small matter, don't worry about it. Besides, you've helped me before!"

"How can they be the same?" Ji Shuyu laughed. "But I just started working and my salary is not much, so..."

Hearing her say this, He Yanzhi reached out and took the small box on the table, then opened it and took a look: "Then I will respectfully obey your command."

Ji Shuyu felt a little embarrassed.

Judging from his high social status, this thank-you gift was indeed too small, but considering her financial situation, she couldn't buy anything else.

She even borrowed some from Little V to make up the two cufflinks and her grandmother's silk scarf.

The phone on the table rang. Seeing that it was Gu Xiuyuan calling, she gestured to He Yanzhi and then stood up.

"Are you off work?"

"Yeah, I'm off work!" Ji Shuyu replied. "I went to the milk tea shop with Xiao V and sat for a while before going back."

"Do you want me to pick you up?" he asked.

"So do you want me to say whether to use it or not?" Ji Shuyu was slightly dissatisfied.

"I'll be there in five minutes."

She pouted at this moody man and returned to her seat.

"Mr. He, I'm leaving first." She looked at Mo Chen, who was chatting with Xiao V over there, and said, "Could you please help me deliver Mr. Mo's gift?"

"certainly"

"Thank you." After thanking her, Ji Shuyu sent a message to Xiao V, and then signaled to her that she was leaving first.

Gu Xiuyuan sat in the car, looking through the window at a person in the milk tea shop, his hands slightly clenched...

Ji Shuyu came out of the store and was about to make a phone call when she saw Gu Xiuyuan's car parked on the side of the road and walked over quickly.

"Don't you have to work overtime today?"

"Yeah." Gu Xiuyuan replied calmly. He looked at Ji Shuyu, who was beaming with joy. "Anything happy?"

"Not bad." Ji Shuyu thought for a moment, then smiled: "Does it count if Sister Manning praises me?"

She smiled, but Gu Xiuyuan didn't respond. When he looked towards the floor-to-ceiling window again, that place was empty.

"What are you looking at?" Ji Shuyu asked.

"I don't have to work overtime today. Do you want to invite your colleagues to dinner?" he asked.

"It's too sudden! Besides, there are only four of us in the studio, and we're just called Little V..." Ji Shuyu said, feeling something was wrong. "You, what do you mean?"

He seemed very interested in her studio. He had asked Sister Manning before, and now it was Xiao V, so he seemed to be suspicious of her.

"Nothing, let's do it another day."

Gu Xiuyuan didn't say a word on the way back. This feeling of oppression was suffocating.

As soon as the two of them entered the room, the aunt noticed that the atmosphere was not right and went back to her room.

Ji Shuyu was a little angry and was irritated by his mood swings for several days.

"Gu Xiuyuan..."

"Do you have anything to say to me?" He started to steal the ball, with a hint of questioning in his eyes.
