Chapter 106 The Thief Cries "Stop Thief!"

Shen Jingmo frowned, his softened tone returning to its usual coldness: "What happened?"

"My painting 'Girl in Red Dress' is gone."

Upon hearing this, Shen Jinmo recalled the painting he had seen on the wall of the lobby on the first floor of the Artists' Alliance.

ROSE's masterpiece.

It seems to be called "The Girl in the Red Dress".

"You suspect I stole it?" Accused of being a thief, Shen Jinmo was instantly furious.

How could he do such a despicable thing?

"The painting was stolen after all the security cameras were sabotaged, taking advantage of the fact that everyone in the company was leaving get off work. The company receptionist said that you had said you wanted to buy the painting, and it's not impossible that you had malicious intentions when the deal fell through."

This painting was very important to her.

That's why she got so anxious.

Feeling misunderstood, Shen Jinmo felt as if someone was pressing on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe for a long time.

"I'll only say this once, it wasn't me. I, Shen Jinmo, have always been someone who takes responsibility for my actions. Believe it or not, it's up to you." After saying this, Shen Jinmo hung up the phone.

He leaned back in his chair, trying his best to calm his anger.

He suddenly remembered the days when Lu Zhiwei had been misunderstood by him, and he imagined that she must have felt the same way he did back then.

Was his tone a bit too harsh just now?

She must be very sad about losing the painting.

Holding his phone, he found her number, wanting to call her back, but hesitated. Finally, he sent Lu Zhiwei a WeChat message: "I'll do my best to help you get it back, don't worry."

Upon arriving at Shuiyun Bay Villa, Shen Jinmo entered the villa and changed his shoes in the entrance hall.

Aunt Chen was surprised by his sudden return and rushed out of the nanny's room: "Sir, why did you suddenly come back to stay here tonight?"

"I just suddenly wanted to come back and stay for one night. Don't worry about me, come inside and rest." Shen Jinmo walked to the sofa in the living room and sat down.

He recalled the night he brought up divorce; Lu Zhiwei was sitting in the same spot he was sitting now, and she ripped their wedding ring off her hand and threw it on the table.

He has already thrown the ring away.

It won't be so easy to get it back now.

Seeing the weariness in his eyes, Aunt Chen didn't dare to say anything and prepared to go back inside.

Ding dong, ding dong.

The doorbell rang.

Aunt Chen immediately went to open the door.

The door opened, and two movers unloaded a large item wrapped in waterproof plastic from the truck and carried it to the door: "Hello, is this Mr. Shen's house? This is a delivery for you, please sign for it."

I heard a sound.

Shen Jinmo got up from the sofa, walked to the door, and signed the document.

Together with Aunt Chen, we moved the things in.

Aunt Chen went to get the scissors and handed them to him.

Bending down to disassemble the painting, a familiar artwork appeared before Shen Jinmo's eyes.

It's that painting, "Girl in a Red Dress".

He had just said that he hadn't stolen anything.

Shortly after, the painting was delivered to him.

If he were to tell Lu Zhiwei now that he didn't steal it, would she believe him? Not even a ghost would.

Sitting back on the sofa, Shen Jinmo took out his phone, intending to ask Lin Jing to investigate who stole the painting.

Shen Jiarui called.

"Brother, did you receive the painting?" Shen Jiarui's tone on the other end of the phone was very excited, as if he was calling to ask for credit.

"Where did this painting come from?" Shen Jinmo tried his best to suppress the urge to kill Shen Jiarui.

"I bought it," Shen Jiarui replied.

"Not stolen?" Shen Jingmo's tone became sharper, and a chilling aura hung over Shen Jiarui's head like an invisible knife.

“I left some money at their front desk, so it’s not stealing. You haven’t gotten your sister-in-law back yet, so I bought this painting for you so you can remember her. Shouldn’t you thank me?” Shen Jiarui said smugly.

"I thank you..." Shen Jinmo almost blurted out a curse, but he stopped himself in time.

He strongly suspected that this kid had a grudge against him, and was either trying to harm him or on his way to doing so, hoping that he would remain a bachelor for the rest of his life.

He hung up on Shen Jiarui.

Shen Jinmo wanted to contact Lu Zhiwei immediately to tell her that the painting had been found and to send it back to her that very night.

But then he thought that if he sent it back now, wouldn't that confirm that he was the one crying wolf, leaving him with no way to defend himself?

Whether the painting is returned or not, Lu Zhiwei is convinced that he stole it.

That's how it is.

Shen Jinmo simply left the painting at the Shuiyun Bay villa and asked Aunt Chen to find someone to help hang it up tomorrow if she had time.

Lu Zhiwei will eventually move back to Shuiyun Bay, and this painting will eventually return to her hands; it's just a matter of time.

Lu Zhiwei's painting was never recovered. Every time she stepped into the lobby of the Artists' Alliance, she felt like a clown who had been stripped naked and was running around naked in the lobby.

Luo Wuyan laughed at Lu Zhiwei countless times because of this.

Furthermore, since there was no concrete evidence to prove that Shen Jinmo had forcibly bought the painting, Lu Zhiwei had no other recourse but to call Shen Jinmo that day and reprimand him.

The preliminary round of the design league has begun, and participating artists need to upload their preliminary works to the official platform for selection.

The league has eight tracks, and the backstage received too many entries in a short time. Lu Zhiwei attached great importance to this competition, and even for the preliminary selection entries, she tried her best to personally review them.

I was so busy that almost half a month passed.

Shen Jinmo never appeared in front of her again.

Over at the Green Bamboo Garden.

After remaining silent for more than half a month, the old lady finally decided to help him.

For her 80th birthday celebration, the old lady decided to organize a grand affair.

Shen Jinmo spent a lot of money to invite an opera troupe to perform at Cuizhu Garden to celebrate the old lady's birthday on the day of the banquet.

Workers have already begun setting up the stage.
