Chapter 11 Fainting

Early the next morning.

Lu Zhiwei called and ordered a bouquet of flowers to take back to the Lu family villa.

After a good rest last night, Lu Yunsheng felt much better and ate a large bowl of millet porridge for breakfast.

A maid came in carrying flowers, and Lu Yunsheng stopped her, asking, "Who sent these flowers?"

The maid brought the flowers over: "They were ordered by the second young lady."

Lu Yunsheng took the flowers and admired them with delight: "Weiwei is so thoughtful. She specially ordered a bouquet of flowers for me knowing I was sick."

Lu Zhiwei, dressed and ready, came downstairs. She had stayed up late last night and had dark circles under her eyes, so she put on light makeup to cover up her fatigue.

"Put these flowers down, they're not for you." Lu Zhiwei came up to Lu Yunsheng and took the flowers from his hands.

"..." Lu Yunsheng stared longingly as the flowers in his arms were taken away: "Then who are you giving them to?"

“Grandma.” Lu Zhiwei glanced at Lu Yunsheng.

When her mother went abroad while she was pregnant, the house where her maternal grandmother lived was a dowry that Lu Yunsheng gave to her mother, Su Wan. It was worth tens of millions of yuan and was located in the city center, where its value has been increasing in recent years.

Later, Su Wan never returned to China, and her grandmother became an elderly person living alone with her health deteriorating. Zhao Xiuying said something to her grandmother, and her grandmother voluntarily returned the property to the Lu family.

To express his remorse, Lu Yunsheng immediately booked the most expensive nursing home to take care of his grandmother, and the cost of the nursing home was as high as one million yuan per year.

She only learned yesterday that the nursing home fees had been paid a few years ago, but no one had paid them in the last two years, and the facility had been in arrears ever since.

My grandmother lost her house and home, and now she has been reduced to working as a cleaning lady at a nursing home to pay rent. She no longer has access to any medical examinations.

“She…she’s been in a sanatorium all these years. I visit her whenever I’m not busy. The old lady is quite healthy; she can eat two bowls of rice at a time.” Although Lu Yunsheng had a smile on his face, you could tell that he wasn’t very confident.

Lu Zhiwei chuckled. Lu Yunsheng's so-called "not busy" meant that he could only find time to visit the sanatorium once every three to five years.

Perhaps it was because of his broken marriage with Su Wan that he even showed resentment when visiting his grandmother.

Why was he so good to her? She found that very strange.

"Don't you know that the sanatorium has been in arrears for two years?" Lu Zhiwei asked him bluntly.

"How is that possible? I've always told your Aunt Zhao to go to the sanatorium to pay the bills on time," Lu Yunsheng said in shock.

"I'm afraid the money ended up in her own pocket," Lu Zhiwei said with a half-smile.

She was in a hurry to get to the hospital and didn't linger. Some things were best left unsaid.

Now that she's back, she will protect those she wants to protect, and she won't let any of those who commit crimes go unpunished.

"Weiwei, what are your plans regarding Shen Jingmo?" Lu Yunsheng asked, standing up from the sofa as well.

Lu Zhiwei recalled the information she found at the police station last night and stared intently at Lu Yunsheng: "Dad, have you ever thought about eliminating the Shen family and making the Lu family stand at the top of the pyramid in Yunzhou?"

Lu Yunsheng shook his head: "The Lu family is already glorious enough. Dad only hopes that our family can stay together peacefully."

"Okay, remember what you said." Lu Zhiwei smiled as she left the villa, retrieved a Cayenne from the garage, and drove to the sanatorium.

Holding a bouquet of dazzling sunflowers, I walked into Yunzhou's most luxurious sanatorium.

The high heels stopped in front of an elderly woman with gray hair, who was hunched over and mopping the corridor floor.

When the old lady saw the dirty water from the mop splashed onto Lu Zhiwei's expensive high heels, she was so startled that she quickly dropped the mop, squatted down, and prepared to wipe the shoes with her sleeve: "I'm so sorry, Miss, let me clean them for you."

Lu Zhiwei bent down and helped the old lady up, feeling a growing sense of guilt: "Grandma, I'm sorry I'm late."

Upon hearing the word "Grandma," the old woman looked up and saw Lu Zhiwei's face, which was almost identical to her daughter Su Wan's, and tears streamed down her face.

She wanted to hug her, but after looking at her own dirty body, she slowly shrank back, afraid of getting her beautiful granddaughter dirty.

Without saying a word, Lu Zhiwei hugged the old woman and said, "Grandma, Mom couldn't fulfill her filial duty. I'll make it up to you from now on. Don't sweep the floor anymore."

Holding my grandmother's hand, we chatted all the way to the house where she lived.

The room wasn't a proper intensive care unit, but rather a converted storage room filled with junk she had collected from various places.

The old lady felt embarrassed to offer her a seat, so she poured her a glass of water and said, "Let's sit outside."

"Grandma, come with me."

Lu Zhiwei took her grandmother's hand and went to the most expensive VIP special ward on the third floor of the nursing home. She took out a card and immediately paid for ten years' worth of services.

“You’ll be living here from now on.” Lu Zhiwei gently pressed her grandmother onto the soft, comfortable intensive care bed.

"No, I'm an old woman, I don't need to live in a room like this, it's a waste." The old lady firmly refused.

Lu Zhiwei asked her, "Why did you return the house to the Lu family back then? What exactly did Zhao Xiuying tell you?"

The old lady's eyes darkened as she said, "She said your mother wasn't doing well abroad, so I gave her the house, and she helped me sell it. She'll then transfer the money to your mother overseas."

"She stole everything from my mother, do you still expect her to help my mother?" Lu Zhiwei clenched her fists, her anger rising from the soles of her feet.

Throughout the entire process, neither she nor her mother received a single penny of child support payments from China.

"Sigh, Grandma is useless. She comes from the countryside and only managed to support your mother to go to university. It's our ancestors' good fortune that she was able to marry into the Lu family. Besides, she was the one at fault in her divorce from your father." The old lady sighed, not wanting to recall the past anymore.
