When Qi Mingli received the message, he was driving to the hospital with a fruit basket in his trunk.
After seeing the message from Rose, he stepped on the gas and sped off to the hospital.
I carried the fruit basket to the inpatient building.
He caught a glimpse of Shen Jingmo leaning against a tree outside the building, puffing on his cigarette, exhaling smoke rings that drifted away. He exuded an air of decadence, and this was the first time Qi Mingli had ever seen his brother like this.
"I've come to see my sister-in-law. Could you help me carry the fruit basket inside?" Qi Mingli had slightly long, tousled hair, wore a bright-colored shirt, and had a devilishly handsome face.
Shen Jinmo stubbed out his cigarette, his voice slightly hoarse: "Go by yourself."
“This matter is trending on social media today. I understand that you’re too ashamed to see your sister-in-law right now. I’m here to give you a way out.” Qi Mingli knew his brother’s temperament.
It's not easy to find a wife, especially one as stunning as Lu Zhiwei.
As for Xia Wanying, it was a promise made in his youth, and Shen Jinmo definitely felt more guilty towards her.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have gone to such lengths to find Rose to cure Xia Wanying's illness.
Shen Jinmo didn't answer, his brows furrowed, and he took out another cigarette from the pack to light it.
Qi Mingli snatched the cigarette and the lighter from his hand. "Tell me, why didn't you save your wife?"
"You grabbed the wrong hand." He only dared to tell the truth in front of Qi Mingli.
"You're a real genius!" Qi Mingli rolled his eyes, speechless.
Shen Jinmo stared coldly at Qi Mingli. Although he had been scolded, he had no confidence to refute him.
He didn't check the messages in the family group yesterday. If he had, perhaps he could have stopped Lu Zhiwei from doing something stupid sooner, and today's events wouldn't have happened.
"I have some good news to make you happy. I've got Rose, and I'd like to meet you tomorrow," Qi Mingli changed the subject.
Shen Jinmo's eyes lit up immediately: "How did you manage to do it?"
"I have my own way of doing things," Qi Mingli said with a smug smirk. "But they want you to bring your household registration book and ID card to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Is that woman really so desperate for love that she'd try to lure you into marriage on the condition of agreeing to cooperate? What will you do then?"
"My wife is just lying inside, she's not dead. And I don't marry just anyone. I'll handle things tomorrow."
——
The next day, in the lobby of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Lu Zhiwei arrived a few minutes early as agreed and found a chair to sit down.
She had sneaked out of the hospital. The doctor had told her to stay in the hospital for observation for a period of time, fearing that the fall from the high building might cause a concussion and internal bleeding.
But Lu Zhiwei couldn't wait any longer; divorcing Shen Jinmo was more important than anything else right now.
She held a stack of contracts and two red marriage certificates in her hand, which she had always kept.
After getting their marriage certificate, he didn't care about it at all and let her do whatever she wanted with it.
A few minutes later.
A tall, handsome figure walked into the hall, his brows furrowed, his expression extremely cold, and he was wearing a well-tailored, expensive suit.
He stood at the door, holding his phone, carefully comparing the people in the hall according to the information Qi Mingli had given him.
Rose is wearing a black dress today, has short hair, and is very pretty.
All information should be matched up.
Shen Jinmo's gaze was fixed on Lu Zhiwei in the first row of seats.
The moment Shen Jinmo saw Lu Zhiwei, his eyes became as deep and unfathomable as a cold pool.
He strode up to Lu Zhiwei: "Why aren't you at the hospital? What are you doing here?"
Lu Zhiwei calmly and composedly stood up. The all-black dress she was wearing was solemn and dignified, as if she were wearing it to a funeral.
"I'm waiting for you." Lu Zhiwei waved the marriage certificate in her hand, her gaze drifting towards the divorce processing hall next door.
Shen Jinmo immediately understood her meaning, his phoenix eyes swirling with a gloomy intensity that seemed ready to tear someone apart: "I don't have time to waste with you today, I have other things to do."
Lu Zhiwei raised the corner of her lips slightly: "Are you looking for someone? Someone named Rose?"
Shen Jinmo lowered his head and carefully examined Lu Zhiwei's attire, before he could speak.
Lu Zhiwei tossed her short hair, her bright and beautiful face breaking into a smile as she revealed her identity: "That's me."
Shen Jinmo's eyes darkened, and he immediately smiled.
The smile was one of disbelief, but more so of mockery: "Are you kidding me?"
Lu Zhiwei opened her phone, retrieved all the backed-up chat history, and showed it to Shen Jinmu.
When Shen Jinmo took the phone, she saw that the day Qi Mingli added her as a friend was the same day he had pushed WeChat to Rose.
And the chat content inside.
It's simply... colorful and appalling.
Abdominal muscle photos, muscle photos, leg hair photos... and all sorts of flamboyant love confession emojis.
This is what Qi Mingli meant by "winning her over".
Shen Jinmo's face grew increasingly dark, and anger flickered in his eyes.
He gripped his phone tightly, his thin lips pressed together.
What a horrible thing he's done!
He actually pushed his brother to his wife, letting him use his charm to flirt with her at will.
If those two really get together, wouldn't he become the unjust victim who forced himself to be cuckolded?
Shen Jinmo rubbed his forehead, the pain throbbing uncontrollably.
Lu Zhiwei took out a stamp from her bag: "This is my stamp, with the unique mark of a dark rose pattern. It can't be faked."
That was her seal, which she would leave on every painting to sign her name.
Rose, Rose, Lu Zhiwei, how could he not have thought of that!
