"Weren't you having your family reunion at the Lu family home? Why did you suddenly come here?" Shen Jinmo never expected that Lu Zhiwei would remember him.
The dumplings he held in his palms were still warm, instantly warming his icy heart.
“Daddy, we would never forget your kindness. Mommy called Uncle Shen and he said you didn’t come back to the Shen family’s old house for the New Year this year. We thought, you must be here.”
Lu Anyu took the initiative to run to the kitchen and brought out three sets of bowls and chopsticks.
Shen Jinmo placed the dumplings on the table, opened the lid of the insulated box, and felt a lump in her throat.
"I made these myself, want to try them?" Lu Zhiwei urged him to start eating.
"Mmm." Shen Jinmo gripped his chopsticks tightly, picked up a dumpling, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Dad, you need to dip it in the sauce, otherwise it won't taste good." Lu Anyu handed him the sauce dish.
"You guys eat too," Shen Jinmo said with a smile.

The family of three sat around the fireplace, warming themselves by the fire and eating dumplings for Lunar New Year's Eve.
After eating dumplings, Lu Anyu clamored to set off fireworks.
Shen Jinmo had the servants prepare some fireworks and placed them all in the backyard.
Fireworks soared into the sky, exploding in a dazzling display.
This time, the fireworks were not the blue fireworks that Shen Jinmo had carefully prepared for Lu Zhiwei; they were colorful and vibrant.
But Lu Zhiwei thought the fireworks on New Year's Eve were especially beautiful.
"Mommy, I'm going to set off the sparklers." Lu Anyu grabbed the maid's hand and ran off.
"Slow down, don't run so fast, be careful not to fall, you've just recovered from a serious illness." Lu Zhiwei couldn't help but worry as she watched Lu Anyu running wildly around the yard with a fairy wand in his hand.
Shen Jinmo said, "It's alright. It's good for boys to be tough."
Both of them kept their eyes on Lu Anyu, who was having a great time playing in the yard.
A moment later, Shen Jinmo turned his gaze away and stared at Lu Zhiwei standing beside him.
Lu Zhiwei seemed to feel that burning gaze as well.
She didn't turn her head.
"Lu Zhiwei!" he called her softly.
"Hmm?" Lu Zhiwei then turned her gaze and met Shen Jinmo's deep, dark eyes.
"Can you give me a New Year's gift?" Shen Jinmo's brows relaxed, his voice slightly hoarse.
Lu Zhiwei's heart suddenly tightened.
I thought he was going to make some inappropriate request, like kissing or something...
The next second, Shen Jinmo pulled an exquisite jewelry box out of his pocket.
The box is engraved with the logo of the Shen Group, so it should be jewelry customized by the Shen Group.
Shen Jinmo slowly opened the box.
The box contained two bracelets, a couple's set, with a simple design, without any complicated patterns or fancy jewelry embellishments.
It doesn't look expensive.
"Take the men's bracelet out of the box and put it on me. Consider it your New Year's gift to me. Okay?" Shen Jingmo stared at her intently, his gaze unwavering.
Lu Zhiwei had no idea what he was up to.
No one actively asks others to give them gifts; they prepare the gifts themselves first.
"Should I prepare a different one for you?" Lu Zhiwei felt that this was inappropriate.
"Just this one. If you put it on me, I'll consider it a gift from you." Shen Jingmo handed over his hand, his tone gentle yet forceful, brooking no refusal.
Lu Zhiwei took the bracelet out of the box, unlocked the clasp, and put it on Shen Jinmo.
He seemed to have lost weight again; his wrists were no longer as strong as before, as if they were just skin covering bones.
The clasp clicked shut, and Shen Jinmo stared at the bracelet with a satisfied smile.
He seemed to really love the bracelet.
Lu Zhiwei awkwardly touched her forehead. "You're giving yourself a gift, and you even need me to deliver it for you? Are you that easily satisfied?"
"Mm." Shen Jingmo nodded.
After closing the box, Shen Jinmo handed it to Lu Zhiwei: "The one inside is my New Year's gift to you."
"You wouldn't be doing this on purpose just to make sure we wear matching bracelets, would you? I'm still wearing Luo Xiu's bracelet, and I can't take it off now, so I have nowhere else to wear it."
Lu Zhiwei deliberately teased him.
Shen Jinmo is a cunning and treacherous person. He must want to give her a New Year's gift, which is why he went through all this trouble.
"Alright, never mind then." Shen Jinmo silently put the box away, his eyes revealing a hint of disappointment and loneliness.
Before he could take it back, Lu Zhiwei snatched the box away and put it in her coat pocket: "It's already been given away, there's no reason to take it back."
Seeing that she accepted it, Shen Jinmo happily raised his lips, his smile even more uncontrollable than AK's.

Suddenly, fireworks exploded all over the city high in the sky, vying for attention in the dark night.
Lu Zhiwei glanced at her watch; both the hour and minute hands were pointing to twelve.
"Happy New Year, Weiwei." Shen Jinmo was the first to send her New Year's greetings.
Lu Zhiwei turned her head and looked at the thin and pale Shen Jinmo in the wheelchair, a sour feeling welling up in her nose.
Actually... she wasn't looking forward to this New Year.
The new year is coming, which means that Shen Jinmo is one step closer to death.
"Happy New Year!" Lu Zhiwei replied with a bitter smile.
Shen Jinmo stared at the shape of her red lips as they parted.
He knew she meant Happy New Year.
But he was not resigned to it.
"Could you whisper it in my ear and say it again?" he pleaded in a low voice.
He's afraid of next year's Lunar New Year.
He will never hear that New Year's greeting again.
Lu Zhiwei did not refuse. She walked to his side, bent down, and whispered softly in his ear, "Happy New Year, Shen Jinmo!"
