After a long while, Lu Zhiwei smiled with relief.
"I originally thought you and Miss Lu had some connection, and that even if your relationship broke down, it wouldn't affect your future cooperation. But since President Shen has said so, I think there's really no need for you two to cooperate."
Shen Jinmo did not notice the change in Lu Zhiwei's emotions and continued to echo her words: "Well, I am not close to her and we have a long-standing grudge. If we do not have good chemistry, it would not be good for you to lose the interests of the alliance. I hope Mr. William will consider this carefully."
Lu Zhiwei stared coldly at Shen Jinmo, stood up decisively, and announced resolutely: "It does require careful consideration, so I have decided to only cooperate with the Lu Group. The one who is out is you."
His expression suddenly changed, his deep, dark face clouded with gloom: "Why?"
Wasn't the offer he made generous enough?
"Mr. Shen, you should first learn how to respect people. I was telling you about my past with Ms. Lu to show you that Ms. Lu is a resilient and courageous person. She is worth my sacrifice of mutual benefit. But Mr. Shen, you are a businessman through and through. You have no feelings in your eyes and you don't know how to love people. The designs produced by a company like that have no soul. How can I be sure that you have the ability to dominate the entire domestic and international design market?"
After saying that, Lu Zhiwei turned and left.
He never looked back.
Watching her departing, aloof figure, a chilling light gleamed in Shen Jinmo's eyes.
Clench your fists.
This was the first time in his life that he had failed in a business negotiation.
Leave the restaurant.
Lu Zhiwei found a nearby styling shop to remove her disguise.
The shop owner watched as a foreign young man entered the store, and half an hour later, a beautiful and radiant woman came out.
"You...when did you go in? Wasn't it a man who went in?" The shop owner thought he had seen a ghost. He was clearly standing guard at the shop entrance and didn't see anyone else go in or out.
Lu Zhiwei placed a stack of cash in the boss's palm: "The one who just went in was my brother."
"You two, one a foreigner and the other a local, what kind of siblings are you?" the boss still asked, puzzled.
“Half-siblings.” Lu Zhiwei smiled and turned to leave the store.
The boss, clutching the money, chased after him: "Where's your brother?"
Lu Zhiwei waved her hand, "They probably escaped underground."
"..." The boss stared at the money in his hand, rubbed it vigorously, and wondered if the money was even real.
It's like encountering a ghost in the middle of the night.
Did he run away with the money he had?
...
Lu Zhiwei went to the sanatorium.
Whenever she was in a bad mood, she wanted to go to her grandmother, lie down next to her, and not say a word.
Like her mother Su Wan, her maternal grandmother possessed an indomitable spirit that sustained her from a young age.
Mom is gone, but thankfully Grandma is there to keep her company.
I was lying in bed, not quite asleep yet.
A flurry of footsteps echoed down the corridor.
"Dr. Xu, the patient in room 3001 is pale and has difficulty breathing. We need to go there immediately to resuscitate him..."
Lu Zhiwei lay quietly, her gaze fixed on the ceiling.
Grandma sighed and gripped her hand tightly: "The lady in room number 1 is an extremely elegant and refined woman. She's been staying on the third floor the longest, for what seems like over ten years. She has to undergo emergency treatment every month, and I don't know if she'll make it this time. What if Grandma suddenly..."
Lu Zhiwei turned around and hugged her grandmother even tighter: "Grandma, don't talk nonsense, you will live to be a hundred years old."
The old lady held the petite Lu Zhiwei in her arms, her weathered hands gently patting her back: "Everyone is facing death from the moment they are born. Grandma is not afraid of death, but she is afraid that my Weiwei will not be happy."
"I will be very happy." Lu Zhiwei smiled.
Sleepiness came over her, and she quickly fell asleep.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already early the next morning. My grandmother was no longer in bed; she must have gone out for her morning exercise.
After a quick wash, I got ready to go to the company.
I just stepped into the elevator.
A pale, cold hand pressed against the crack in the elevator door: "Wait a moment."
She lowered her head, pressed the elevator button, and stepped in a tall figure.
The man wore black trousers and a black hoodie. His messy hair couldn't hide the black birthmark on his face. His most captivating eyes were filled with heaviness, and there was a bluish-black ring around his eye sockets, as if he was severely sleep-deprived.
Red liquid was flowing from his temple, as if it had dried up long ago.
It looks like blood, yet it doesn't look like blood.
Lu Zhiwei has extensive experience in makeup application; if she were to get a little closer, she might be able to discern some clues.
The man was just too tall, and he exuded a gloomy aura.
She huddled in a corner of the elevator, remaining silent.
This was the second time she had seen him.
bite--
The elevator doors opened.
The man stepped out of the elevator first.
Lu Zhiwei followed.
The man's imposing figure suddenly stopped at the elevator entrance, catching everyone off guard.
Lu Zhiwei was in a hurry to drive to the company and didn't look where she was going, so she crashed straight into the man's strong back.
Thankfully, her nose was real at the moment, otherwise it would have been completely crushed.
He rubbed his sore nose and looked up.
He met a pair of deep, dark eyes.
"Do you still remember me?" the man asked her.
Lu Zhiwei smiled, the morning sunlight streaming through the glass window onto her bright face. "Your name is Zhou Yan, and you helped me last time."
"Could you buy me breakfast?" The hoarse voice carried a pitiful plea.
Lu Zhiwei stared blankly at his tired face, but his eyes were filled with a sense of vicissitude from surviving a catastrophe.
