Chapter 47 The Flower on the High Mountain

Entering the ward.

The ward was filled with fresh flowers, fruits, and health supplements.

"Son, come here quickly, I was just talking to your Aunt Qin about you." Jiang Jingyu, dressed in expensive clothes and still charming, sat by the hospital bed peeling fruit for Ruan Qin.

Seeing Shen Jinmo, she smiled, stood up, pulled him to the bedside, and called him Aunt Ruan.

Ruan Qin comes from an artistic family and was Shen Jinmo's art teacher in junior high school. When she was young, she fell in love at first sight with Zhou Zhengting, the president of Zhou's Pharmaceutical, creating a beautiful love story.

However, she was later diagnosed with a rare disease and withdrew from the education industry. She raised her two children until they were seventeen or eighteen years old, then sent herself to a sanatorium and never came out again.

“My Mo’er is single now, which is a perfect match for your Shuang’er. Once you’re discharged from the hospital, I’ll arrange for the two children to meet properly.” Jiang Jingyu’s visit to her close friend was only one reason; her ultimate goal was to arrange a marriage between the two families.

Shen Jingmo, his face grim, brushed Jiang Jingyu's hand away: "Aunt Ruan was just given emergency treatment last night, why are you bringing this up? It's her first marriage, I'm on my second, how are we a good match?"

Ruan Qin, lying in her hospital bed, noticed Shen Jinmo's resistance to the marriage and said with a smile, "Young people's feelings cannot be forced; let them be."

Jiang Jingyu was sharp-tongued, domineering, and forceful: "The first time I let him have his way, he married a liar. Now do you think I'll let him marry an idiot? My son shouldn't be treated like this."

"..." Shen Jinmo's eyes were dark and unfathomably cold.

"Miss Xia." Lin Jing, who was outside the door, saw Xia Wanying suddenly walk to the door of the ward and deliberately called out loudly so that Shen Jingmo could hear her.

Upon hearing the sound, Shen Jinmo walked out of the ward without saying a word.

Xia Wanying stood at the door, clutching the hem of her skirt, looking uneasy.

Shen Jinmo ruffled her hair: "Why aren't you in your room?"

"I saw Brother Shen come, but he didn't come to see me. This is the first time Brother Shen has come to the hospital not to see Yingying. Yingying is so sad." The little girl sniffed, her eyes glistening with tears, looking pitiful.

Jiang Jingyu followed closely behind.

Without saying a word, he slapped Xia Wanying across the face before Shen Jinmo could even react.

"You heartless brat, you ungrateful wretch! You should have died in that fire. What are you doing back here?"

Shen Jinmo glared coldly at Jiang Jingyu, grabbed her wrist and pulled her away from Xia Wanying to prevent her from slapping her again: "Come back with me."

"Lin Jing, take Yingying to the doctor for treatment." Before leaving, Shen Jingmo specifically instructed Lin Jing to handle the aftermath.

Xia Wanying, who had been slapped, silently shed tears as she walked back.

As we passed by Lu Zhiwei's maternal grandmother's room, the old lady stood there and witnessed the beating.

The old man, ultimately soft-hearted, went back inside to get an ice pack and handed it to her: "Girl, you can't marry into that kind of family. You should think this through carefully."

Xia Wanying took the ice pack from the old lady, covered her face, and ran into her room, never to come out again.

——

Lu's Group.

Lu Zhiwei sat in the conference room, where she and the senior executives were selecting the spokesperson for Lu's Group's new season of high-end menswear.

Several photos of popular male actors were displayed on the big screen.

Lu Zhiwei glanced over at it.

My gaze fell on the first photo. The man's deep-set eyes were particularly captivating, his facial features were perfectly defined, and most importantly, he was tall with broad shoulders and a head-to-body ratio that was the perfect golden ratio.

She's a natural clothes hanger.

"This actor is..."

She doesn't usually pay much attention to the entertainment industry, nor is she a fan of male celebrities.

“Vice President Lu, you don’t know him? He is the first and youngest double Best Actor in the entertainment industry. He is a drama fanatic and spends all year on set filming. He can be called a workaholic in the industry. However, he never accepts any endorsements. Our Lu Group invites him to be our spokesperson every year, but he is rejected every year. We have become numb to the rejection.”

The advertising director in the audience shrugged helplessly.

"We're not the only ones being rejected; other companies are being rejected too. Does that make us feel better?"

The meeting room was filled with laughter.

Lu Zhiwei narrowed her eyes, staring at the flawless man in the photo: "If he's so hard to invite, why not remove him from the candidate list? It's a waste of our time."

"He is a top-tier, unattainable figure. We can only look for his substitutes. The benchmark must be the first priority, so that we have something to compare him to."

"Should I give it a try?" Lu Zhiwei looked at the executives below the stage with suspicion.

She enjoys challenging tasks, and when it comes to hiring a spokesperson for the Lu Group, she naturally wants the most outstanding and attention-grabbing one.

By securing this double Best Actor award, Lu's Group will become his first brand ambassador, making the cost-effectiveness unimaginable.

"Vice President Lu, please take care."

"Don't cry if you get rejected."

"It took us three years to add his agent on WeChat. He himself seems to not even have a cell phone."

"Unless you have extraordinary abilities to meet him in person, his schedule is extremely confidential. His staff never reveal anything about it, and even paparazzi can't find a single detail."

The meeting wasn't over yet, and Lu Zhiwei's phone, which was on the table, kept vibrating.

She glanced at the caller ID: Debt Collector.

She rejected the call and continued her meeting.

My phone rang again; it was that debt collector calling again.

It was hung up three or four times in a row.

The other party sent her a WeChat message.

[Lu Zhiwei...would it kill you to answer the phone?]

Lu Zhiwei picked up her phone and replied: 【I'll die.】

Then, Lu Zhiwei turned off her phone.
