Chapter 60 He Seems to Like You

Whoosh whoosh.

The sound of helicopter rotors came from overhead.

The rescue team has arrived.

Landing here is not advisable, as it could trigger a second avalanche.

A white rope ladder was lowered from the cabin door.

Without saying a word, Lu Zhiwei grabbed the rope ladder and climbed up, leaving Shen Jinmo alone in the wind and snow.

Shen Jinmo stood up from the snow, but his legs were getting more and more painful, with a needle-like pain spreading from his legs to the top of his head.

He probably won't be able to climb up the rope ladder.

Lu Zhiwei, who had boarded the helicopter, tossed her short hair and glanced down at Shen Jinmo with disdain.

His eyes were cold and tinged with loneliness.

Lu Zhiwei withdrew her gaze and got into the helicopter.

The rescue team leader, Vaughn, is a native of the United States, with a burly build. He has been in charge of on-site rescue work for many years and is an old acquaintance of Lu Zhiwei.

He saw that Lu Zhiwei had been up there for a while, but the person below remained unmoved, not even grabbing the rope ladder.

"Queen, why isn't that man upstairs?" Vaughn asked her.

Lu Zhiwei's face was tense, still recovering from her anger. She replied in fluent English, "Take me down the mountain first, don't wait for him anymore."

According to the rescue route, another rescue team should be clearing snow at the other end, although it may take a little longer to clear the road.

Vaughn gazed at Lu Zhiwei, who sat quietly by the window, her expression aloof and cold. Her small red lips were tightly pursed, as if she were quite angry with the man below her: "That man seems to like you? He rushed to save you the moment he found out you were in trouble, and it's not right to just leave him there?"

“Vaughn, even if every man in the world likes me, he could never like me. He saved me for ulterior motives. Let’s go, his leg is injured and he can’t get up. Notify another rescue team to come and rescue him.”

After speaking, Lu Zhiwei leaned back wearily in her chair and closed her eyes, pretending to doze off.

We arrived at the foot of the mountain.

Lu Zhiwei stepped out of the helicopter, and Shen Jiarui, Xia Wanying, and Luo Wuyan ran towards the helicopter elevator exit at the same time.

Luo Wuyan rushed to the front and, seeing that she was safe and sound, she hugged her excitedly: "It's good that you're safe."

Having participated in countless competitions alongside Lu Zhiwei over the years, Luo Wuyan was always most grateful that Lu Zhiwei returned safely from the competition.

When Shen Jiarui saw that only Lu Zhiwei got off the plane, his face fell and his heart clenched: "Sister-in-law, where's my brother?"

Xia Wanying's eyes were red like a rabbit's as she stared blankly at her: "Sister Lu, where's Brother Chen? Did you come back alone?"

"He stayed on the mountain." Lu Zhiwei pursed her lips, stepped out of Luo Wuyan's arms, and said indifferently.

"The body was left on the mountain?" Shen Jiarui frowned, letting his imagination run wild.

“…” Lu Zhiwei, “Shen Jiarui, you really hate your brother, don’t you?”

"If he's not dead, why didn't he come down the mountain with you?" Shen Jiarui kept pestering her.

Exhausted, Lu Zhiwei sighed, "He injured his leg. He can't board the helicopter."

Shen Jiarui breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that his older brother had only injured one leg, but then he suddenly remembered something.

My brother's leg injury can't be in vain. He's not good at taking credit, but he's good at it.

“Sister-in-law, his leg was injured because of you, you have to take responsibility.”

"What responsibility? My Weiwei didn't ask him to rescue her. Didn't you see that my Weiwei was perfectly fine? She was capable of getting out of trouble on her own. Your brother had to go and make things worse, trying to be a hero and ending up looking like a coward. Why should my Weiwei be responsible for her injured leg?" Luo Wuyan protested.

"I don't want to waste my breath on someone as unreasonable as you." Shen Jiarui's cheeks flushed red with anger at Luo Wuyan.

"Do you think I want to waste my breath on a piece of trash like you?"

...

Lu Zhiwei covered her ears and tried to escape.

The competition was marred by such a major accident that all subsequent matches were suspended. The competition committee sent a special team to investigate the cause of the accident and to determine who was responsible.

Lu Zhiwei cooperated by giving a statement and revealing what she knew.

On the third day, the competition committee issued an accident investigation report, which also identified the culprit that disrupted the normal conduct of the competition and caused the accident.

It was a track inspection worker who tampered with the track on the mountain.

Faced with the court trial, this man kept his mouth shut, insisting that he suffered from depression, which caused his mental distortion, and that he was willing to drag the motorcycle racers down with him.

The matter was handled quickly; the committee, fearing that the incident would escalate and affect the normal resumption of subsequent matches, hastily closed the case.

But Lu Zhiwei could vaguely sense that this matter was not so simple.

Lu Zhiwei flew back to China.

As soon as she got off the plane and walked out of the international terminal, she was wearing a light denim skirt suit and black sunglasses on her high nose bridge, looking refreshing and cool.

Turn off airplane mode and take your phone out of your pocket.

Jiang Jingyu called.

Lu Zhiwei guessed the purpose of her call.

After being rescued from the mountain, Shen Jinmo was flown back to China overnight by a special plane.

She was delayed by three days due to cooperating with the investigation, so she arrived in China a few days later than Shen Jinmo.

She was unaware of Shen Jinmo's injuries.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Lu Zhiwei answered the phone.

A driver from the Lu family was already waiting for her at the exit. The driver opened the car door, and she, holding her phone, climbed into the car.

"Lu Zhiwei, you bitch, it's all because of you that Mo'er broke his leg. Let me tell you, if his leg affects his ability to walk in the future, see how I deal with you." Jiang Jingyu's domineering and mean voice came from the other end of the phone.

Lu Zhiwei moved the phone away from her ear slightly and listened slowly as she finished cursing.
