Chapter 66 Shura Field

Not long after, Lin Jing presented Lu Zhiwei with an exquisite brocade box.

Lu Zhiwei didn't reach out to take it; she felt obligated to accept it.

Shen Jinmo's sudden change of heart is probably still because of the child.

In the past, he never wanted to put any effort into her, but now he is going to great lengths to pave the way for Xia Wanying to marry into the Shen family.

"Don't overthink it, it's just a gift from a brand partner." Seeing that she wouldn't accept it, Shen Jinmo patiently explained.

He seemed eager for her to accept the gift and for him to flatter her.

"Then I'll also give President Shen a gift." Facing the media, Lu Zhiwei didn't want to get entangled with Shen Jinmo, so she accepted the gift gracefully and then said a few words to An Yang beside her.

Soon, An Yang returned carrying a red gift box and personally handed it to Shen Jingmo, saying, "President Shen, this is a gift from my sister Wei to you in return."

Her polite and distant manner displeased Shen Jinmo, and now she wished she had nothing to do with him at all.

He opened the box, inside which was a dark red cheongsam, the main design for Lu's press conference.

"Why did you give me a cheongsam?" Does he think he can actually wear it?

“It’s only right to reciprocate. Mr. Shen can take it and give it to his beloved woman. This color is bright and elegant, perfect for an engagement or wedding.” Lu Zhiwei maintained a radiant smile.

Shen Jinmo looked at her with a deep and indifferent gaze, trying to catch a trace of bitterness in her eyes.

Unfortunately, no.

She seemed very calm and composed, as if she were sincerely wishing him and Xia Wanying a long and happy life together.

Shen Jinmo closed the box and handed the gift box to Lin Jing.

The press conference has ended.

There was a celebration banquet. The Lu family and the Shen family had always been at odds. The hotel's second-floor restaurant booked twenty tables, serving the highest-level dishes for VIPs.

By lunchtime, not a single table was full.

They are all from the Shen Group.

The two groups have been fighting each other for so many years. From top management to veteran employees, everyone wants to settle things with their rivals. How could they possibly have a peaceful meal together?

Seeing that no one was in the restaurant, Lu Zhiwei promptly sent a group message to the company's main group, tagging everyone.

Why isn't anyone coming to eat? It's a free meal, why not take advantage of it? Our Lu family employees should show some generosity.

This statement has a double meaning.

So the employees returned to Shen's Hotel for a meal.

The leading directors kept using psychological manipulation tactics on their subordinates: "Eat as much as you can, eat your fill. People from the Lu family need to be magnanimous. We can't let people think we're petty."

The employees of Shen's Group at the next table heard this and felt they had been subtly insulted.

Not to be outdone, they ate to their hearts' content, afraid that if they didn't eat enough, people would gossip that the Shen Group was petty and narrow-minded.

For a moment, the employees of the two groups acted as if they had never eaten before, stuffing themselves at the table and fighting over the food...

To outsiders, they may seem like they're just fighting for food, but in reality, they're fighting for their own group's reputation.

Shen Jinmo and Lu Zhiwei's lunch was arranged in a private room on the second floor.

To ensure the freshness and taste of the dishes, Shen Jinmo asked the waiter to bring the menu so that Lu Zhiwei could order the food herself.

Holding the menu, Lu Zhiwei glanced at the dishes and immediately decided, "I'll have a Boston lobster."

The waiter next to her looked embarrassed: "I'm sorry, Ms. Lu, all the shrimp in the hotel are sold out."

“Then the tuna,” Lu Zhiwei added.

"It's gone too."

Shen Jinmo frowned: "What's going on?" His hotel had never encountered such a situation of supply falling short of demand before, and all ingredients had to be supplied normally every day.

"Mr. Shen, the employees from the two major groups downstairs seem unusually hungry today, like they haven't eaten for three days. They've ordered plate after plate of top-quality dishes, and we've already asked the food purchasing department to prepare the ingredients as soon as possible." The waiter was almost in tears.

Lu Zhiwei silently put down the menu in her hand, a very faint smile curving her red lips. She didn't go downstairs, but she could roughly guess the bloody battle unfolding in the restaurant below.

Shen Jinmo's face darkened; he felt utterly humiliated.

He wanted to treat Lu Zhiwei to a nice meal, but now he can't even afford that.

“I’ll take you somewhere else to eat,” Shen Jinmo suggested.

Lu Zhiwei waved her hand: "No need, thank you for your hospitality to the Lu Group, Mr. Shen. I'll just have something simple to eat when I get back."

Rejected, Shen Jinmo felt as if he couldn't breathe.

Qi Mingli told her that when dealing with a woman like Lu Zhiwei, you can't be forceful; you have to be gentle.

During this period, he thought things through very clearly and followed through.

But Lu Zhiwei wouldn't even give him a chance to get close to her.

An Yang suddenly knocked on the door and came in: "Sister Wei, Actor Ruan's nanny car is parked downstairs at the hotel. His assistant asked me to come upstairs to invite you to lunch."

"Okay, I'll be right down." Lu Zhiwei picked up her bag from the chair and stood up.

Shen Jinmo sat blankly in his wheelchair. As soon as Lu Zhiwei left, he asked Lin Jing to push him to catch up.

Inside the descending escalator.

The atmosphere was eerily quiet.

Lu Zhiwei caught a glimpse of Shen Jinmo's face in the mirror inside the elevator.

She noticed he was looking at her.

That look in his eyes was unlike anything I'd ever seen before—focused and affectionate.

Was it just her imagination?

Lu Zhiwei turned her head, lowered her eyes, and looked at him.

Shen Jinmo had already withdrawn his gaze.

The elevator doors opened, and I left the hotel lobby on the first floor.

The nanny van parked at the door had already opened one of the doors.

Sitting in the back seat, Ruan Jizhou, wearing sunglasses and a mask, waved to Lu Zhiwei: "I just finished a job and saw on the news that you were having a press conference here, so I thought I'd try my luck and see if I could treat you to lunch. Looks like I'm in luck today."
