Chapter 67 He wanted to ease tensions

Hearing this, Lu Zhiwei, who was focused on cooking, lost all appetite.

He remained as confident as ever that he had never been criticized.

Setting down her cutlery, Lu Zhiwei gazed intently at the elegant and refined Ruan Jizhou.

In terms of height, appearance, and family background, Ruan Jizhou was in no way inferior to Shen Jinmo.

"Feelings can be cultivated. We are working on it." Lu Zhiwei raised her lips slightly, her tone firm and solemn.

She wasn't just saying it casually; she had seriously considered it. As long as Ruan Jizhou didn't mind, she would spare no effort to cultivate this relationship.

What if they're a good match?

Ruan Jizhou was shocked by Lu Zhiwei's answer, staring in astonishment at her fair face and her eyes that shone like stars.

The surprise faded, replaced by a quiet joy: "Weiwei is right, we are working hard."

During the dinner, the two of them exchanged flirtatious glances.

Shen Jinmo became an outsider at this meal.

He insisted on coming over to freeload the meal, and he insisted on paying for it.

What else could he be but a great victim?

The waiter brought out a yogurt fruit salad, which was the dessert that Ruan Jizhou had ordered for Lu Zhiwei.

The colorful fruit covered a layer of yogurt, and it looked and tasted delicious.

Ruan Jizhou took a spoon and fork and placed them in front of Lu Zhiwei.

Just as Lu Zhiwei was about to take a bite, Shen Jinmo sternly stopped her: "You're allergic to mangoes, have you forgotten?"

Looking at the few yellow mango pieces in her spoon, Ruan Jizhou frowned and quickly took the yogurt fruit salad from Lu Zhiwei's hand: "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

Shen Jinmo leaned back lazily in his wheelchair, secretly pleased with himself for turning the tables: "It's not your fault. After all, we've been inseparable for three years, while you've only known each other for three weeks."

Lu Zhiwei silently took the fruit salad back from Ruan Jizhou, scooped it into her mouth in big mouthfuls, and even ate the mango along with it.

"Are you crazy? Lu Zhiwei, would you go to this lengths just to spite me?" Shen Jinmo's smile froze on his face, replaced by a dark and angry expression.

Lu Zhiwei swallowed the mango in her mouth, the oppressive, suffocating feeling making her feel nauseous.

She covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom, vomiting violently.

Ruan Jizhou then got up and followed her inside, patted her back lightly, and took out a few tissues to wipe the corners of her mouth.

Even if Shen Jinmo wanted to go in, he couldn't, as he was still in a wheelchair.

A few minutes later, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

Lu Zhiwei composed herself, walked out of the restroom, picked up her bag from the chair, and left.

Shen Jinmo got angry when he saw her half-dead appearance: "Do you feel good about going against me and demeaning yourself?"

Lu Zhiwei slammed the bag she was holding into Shen Jinmo's arms: "Am I really allergic to mangoes? Shen Jinmo, please think this through carefully."

Catching the bag she tossed to him, Shen Jinmo's eyes flickered as he carefully recalled the past three years.

When exactly did they find out she was allergic to mangoes?

It was the family dinner in the first year of our marriage. A friend sent two boxes of Miyazaki Mango, known as the "Son of the Sun," to our home. The maid cut them out as dessert after dinner.

This is Xia Wanying's favorite fruit.

He was in a terrible mood that day, thinking that Xia Wanting, who had disappeared somewhere, would never be able to eat this kind of fruit again.

He, however, was enjoying himself with another woman and his family.

In a fit of anger, he overturned the plate of mangoes on the table.

The old lady sat in the main seat with a very displeased expression. In the living room were Shen Jiarui's family and other relatives from other branches of the family, a total of more than a dozen people.

To justify his outburst, he turned to his wife, Lu Zhiwei, and said, "You're allergic to mangoes, right?"

Looking into his eyes, she nodded in front of all the elders of the Shen family.

Since then, Lu Zhiwei has never seen Mango at the Shen family again.

Until now.

He still clearly believed that she was allergic to mangoes.

"Why did you nod if you weren't allergic?" Shen Jinmo asked urgently, his expression cold and stern.

"Didn't you want me to nod?" Lu Zhiwei growled.

She was holding her fork, ready to take her first bite, when she saw his gaze—a gaze she couldn't refuse.

She forced herself to admit she was allergic to mangoes.

After that, she stopped attending any of the Shen family's banquets. Whenever there was a banquet, she would hide away, afraid of causing any unnecessary trouble.

Shen Jinmo was so frustrated that he could no longer speak.

Indeed, he hoped she would have a mango allergy in order to cover up his emotions at the time, so that he could save face as the head of the Shen family and create a good image of loving his wife to everyone.

Lu Zhiwei would help him fulfill his long-cherished wish without hesitation.

Whether she was truly allergic to mangoes or not was not that important to him at the time.

The argument did not continue.

They're already divorced, so there's no point in discussing it further.

Lu Zhiwei snatched her bag back from him and left the restaurant with Ruan Jizhou.

Left alone, Shen Jinmo felt as if he had been punched in the chest, waves of soreness washing over him.

He wanted to work on improving his relationship with Lu Zhiwei.

In the end, it still turned out badly.

...

Back at the company, Lu Zhiwei was not affected by what happened at noon and focused all her energy on her work.

As it was nearing the end of the workday, An Yang knocked on the door and came in, holding a package delivered from the same city: "Sister Wei, is this what you ordered?"

Lu Zhiwei doesn't have the habit of online shopping. She took the express box from An Yang, took a pen and a utility knife from the pen holder, and opened it.

The box that appeared in front of me looked somewhat familiar.
