The next day, Gu Li took Chengcheng to sweep the tomb early in the morning.

There was another very important reason why I rushed back to China: today is the 20th anniversary of Gu Li's mother's death.

Chengcheng knew that his mother was feeling down today, so he stayed quiet the whole way, holding her hand tightly, his heart aching slightly too.

From as far back as he can remember, he vividly recalls that his mother would be sad for two days every year, and today was the day they were pushed into the sea.

Chengcheng knew that his mother harbored resentment, but she was probably suppressing that hatred out of consideration for him. He didn't ask, not because he didn't want to know, but because he didn't want to reopen his mother's wounds. He would rather go through the trouble of investigating than cause his mother even the slightest harm.

On the way into the cemetery, Gu Li suddenly stopped with Chengcheng in her hand and hurriedly took out large sunglasses from her bag and put them on.

"Mommy, what's wrong?" Chengcheng was very alert. He looked around and noticed that apart from them, there was only one other person in the cemetery standing not far ahead: a man in a black trench coat. He looked to be over 1.8 meters tall and had a well-proportioned build. "Do you know that person?"

Gu Li didn't say anything, but her hands were trembling quite badly.

"Is he also your enemy?" Chengcheng's eyes flashed with murderous intent.

“No.” Gu Li’s voice was unsteady. “He is an old friend of mine.”

It's unbelievable that even today, besides her, there are still people who remember the anniversary of her mother's death.

An old friend? What kind of old friend could make Mommy lose control like this? Chengcheng seriously considered this question.

He came down...

Gu Li hurriedly dodged, accidentally knocking down the little guy wandering in the void. Just as she was about to help him up, a pair of large hands suddenly reached out and picked Chengcheng up from the ground.

"Thank you, Uncle." Chengcheng stared at the man's face. He was handsome, refined, and wore a pair of elegant glasses. His eyes behind the lenses were somewhat unfathomable, indicating that he was no ordinary person.

Gu Li turned her back to the man, covered her lips, tears welling in her eyes, her heart aching terribly.

Chengcheng turned around and looked at the cemetery full of tombstones, and sighed, "Things are different now, it's completely changed."

Only Gu Li understood this suggestive remark. She touched her face and then let out a deep breath. She would forget her appearance when she was nervous.

She composed herself, took off her sunglasses, turned around, and smiled at Gu Ziqian, saying, "Thank you."

Gu Ziqian looked at her beautiful face and was suddenly shocked. After thinking for about half a minute, he suddenly exclaimed, "You are Miss Gu?"

*************

Two more days passed.

Gu Li and Chengcheng found a house and settled down. The house was found for them by Song Nian through someone. It was fully furnished and equipped with appliances. It was located near the school, just a few minutes' walk away. The location was convenient with easy access to transportation, complete facilities, and a quiet community environment, making it very suitable for the mother and son to live in.

Now that the housewarming is over, the next step is to find a job.

Gu Li had already planned to work for Gu's Group before returning to China. Coincidentally, she met Gu Ziqian, the president of Gu's Group, at the cemetery. They exchanged phone numbers. That day, she took the initiative to call Gu Ziqian to ask him to talk about work and arranged to meet at a Western restaurant.

Due to traffic congestion, Gu Li was a full half hour late. She felt extremely guilty and kept apologizing and explaining the situation.

Gu Ziqian, true to his name, was a gentleman who maintained a courteous smile and said without any hesitation, "It's alright."

Gu Li would find it hypocritical if others said it was okay, but if Gu Ziqian said it was okay, then it was absolutely true that he had no grudges. She knew better than anyone how gentle Gu Ziqian was.

"You're so nice." Gu Li chuckled, her head covered in sweat from running all the way, her nose red from the heat, making her look rather playful and cute.

Gu Ziqian suddenly blurted out, "You look like my sister."

"Huh?" Gu Li's face changed drastically in surprise.
