☆ Forgive past transgressions

☆ Forgive past transgressions

Chu Yaofeng parked the car and turned to look at Gu Li, just in time to catch a fleeting look of nervousness on her face. He couldn't help but tease her, "Like a country bumpkin entering a courtyard, have you lost your mind?"

"Where is this?" Ignoring his teasing, Gu Li asked, clutching the cold sweat on his palms.

"The Gu residence."

He replied softly, and then he saw her face turn pale, and even her eyes seemed to be shrouded in a layer of gloom. "Are you alright?"

Chu Yaofeng reached out and supported her, and whether it was his imagination or not, he felt that she was trembling.

"It's nothing." Gu Li slowly came back to her senses and smiled subtly. "Why did you bring me here?"

"Today is Grandpa Gu's birthday, how can I be without a female companion?"

These words amused Gu Li. "President Chu only needs to say a word, and countless women will be vying to be your companion. Yet you deliberately make things difficult for me. Isn't this blatant manipulation, using me as a pawn? Ha, I only realize now how ruthless you are. I've never seen a man more calculating than you. You should just be quick to punish me and let it go. I really don't want to be blamed and schemed against by those brainless women. I wasn't born in an ancient imperial harem; I don't have the malice to play mind games with them!"

"Haha." Chu Yaofeng laughed twice, reached out and pinched her cheek, "Alright, I've hit her, let's call it even."

Just a light pinch, and you call that a spanking? Gu Li was genuinely taken aback, her mind racing as she looked at him, completely unable to fathom his nature. He was clearly a petty person who held grudges, yet he had been very tolerant and indulgent towards her on several occasions.

Why is that?

"Get off the bus."

As soon as Chu Yaofeng opened the car door, Gu Li grabbed his arm and said urgently, "Are you really not going to hold it against me?"

“Of course.” His gaze was firm, his tone resolute. “A gentleman’s word is his bond.”

But... you're a petty person, can you trust the words of a petty person?

Gu Li expressed doubt and hesitated, not taking any action for a long time.

Chu Yaofeng had already stepped out of the car, walked around to the front, opened the passenger door, and urged her, "The banquet has already started, get out of the car quickly."

"Didn't you say we've settled our scores? Are you still trying to mess with me?" Gu Li sneered, knowing that the words of a petty person are not to be trusted.

As Chu Yaofeng pulled her out of the car, he chuckled, "I'm not as boring as you think. I'll introduce you as my assistant later, and I won't let anyone make things difficult for you. I promise you, are you reassured?"

"Swear it."

Seeing her looking at him like she wanted candy, so incredibly cute, Chu Yaofeng was in a good mood and, on a whim, teased him, "I swear, if I ever make things difficult for you, I'll..."

"I can't find a wife." Gu Li replied instantly.

Chu Yaofeng squinted and thought to himself, "How could someone as handsome and dashing as me not be able to find a wife?"

Ha, absurd!

“OK.” He nodded, agreeing with her solemn vow.

Gu Li finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Chu Yaofeng bent one arm out in the shape of a teapot and poked her waist.

"...What are you doing?" Gu Li jumped back as if she had been electrocuted, glaring at him angrily, her expression clearly showing her contempt for him as a beast.

Chu Yaofeng smiled, his eyes crinkling, and grabbed her hand, wrapping it around his arm. "Come inside with me, arm in arm. What are you thinking?"

"I'm hot." Gu Li shook off his hand, feeling incredibly embarrassed. So that's what he meant. How mortifying! He must have thought she was a pervert. She was so annoyed.
