Damn it, how dare he call her trash and even imply she's being kept by a sugar daddy. *Slap slap*, I mentally slapped him twice more.
"Mr. Chu, are you questioning my competence, or are you questioning the incompetence of all women in the world?" Gu Li retorted calmly.
Upon hearing this answer, Chu Yaofeng raised his handsome, sword-like eyebrows, and a glint of intriguing light flashed in his deep, complex eyes.
That's interesting!
He smiled slightly, but it was a mocking smile. "How do you know that I'm targeting all women in the world, and what makes you think you can represent all women in the world?"
"If I were a man, would President Chu still question me?" Gu Li smiled slightly, mimicking his expression, calm and composed, her eyes showing disdain, not afraid of offending him at all.
Chu Yaofeng was speechless.
He stared at her intently, his deep eyes narrowing slightly, a glint of light seemingly trying to see right through her. She was the first woman to dare contradict him; though somewhat arrogant, she certainly had the right to be. He admired that about her, but not her prickly exterior.
"You're very smart," Chu Yaofeng said after a long pause.
"Mr. Chu, you flatter me."
“But…” Leaning back lazily and crossing his arms in front of his chest, Chu Yaofeng added, “You’re too sharp and will steal the spotlight from your boss. I believe no boss is happy to be outshone by their employee, don’t you think?”
He winked, a flirtatious gesture that seemed to convey a message of love. Gu Li's heart skipped a beat, and cold sweat broke out on her back.
"Does Mr. Chu mean I wasn't accepted?"
Gu Li's lips curled into a slight smile. "Great!" she thought. When she came, she was worried about how to explain it to her older brother if she got accepted.
With a sigh of relief, she stepped forward, walked to Chu Yaofeng's left side, and picked up her resume from the table.
"slow."
Suddenly, my hand was covered by a large hand.
Gu Li quickly withdrew her hand, feeling as if she had been struck by an electric current, and took a step back.
"You seem afraid of me?" Chu Yaofeng picked up her resume from the table and twirled it in his hand, thinking to himself that she seemed quite surprised that she wasn't accepted. Did she dislike LB that much?
Gu Li steadied herself and calmly replied, "I'm not afraid, I just know how to respect myself."
Hearing this, Chu Yaofeng felt as if she had indirectly insulted him.
His gaze darkened, but he seemed completely unconcerned. After all, he was a notorious playboy, and morals were a thing of the past. He didn't care what others thought of him.
But for some reason, he didn't like the feeling of being looked down upon by her, and he made a roundabout way of assuring her, "The company has rules against office romances."
The implication is: You don't need to keep your distance from me for fear that I have ulterior motives.
Gu Li's understanding was, "I've been accepted?"
Damn it, wasn't it because he thought she was too sharp and threatened his protagonist aura? How could it have turned out like this?
He immediately looked like he'd been struck by lightning: Yamete!!!
"Everything as usual, go to work today." Chu Yaofeng stared at her expression with amusement, feeling extremely cheerful.
He's a rebellious person by nature, always wanting to go against the grain. She didn't want to stay in LB, but he insisted on keeping her there. He's not one to back down, and he'll never lose to anyone.
"What do you mean, 'as usual'?"
"Do what you do in JK, do it here."
"Yes," Gu Li replied through gritted teeth. "If there's nothing else, I'll go back to work now!"
Chu Yaofeng felt really good watching her get angry but unable to vent her frustration.
He nodded, indicating that she could leave. Just then, the internal phone on his desk rang.
"Wait a minute." After finishing the call, Chu Yaofeng hurriedly called out to Gu Li, who had already opened the door to leave, "Miss Gu, it's time to test your work ability."
Gu Li turned around in astonishment, meeting his wicked yet sinister smile, as if she had fallen into a gigantic pit.
