Chapter 154 Negotiation, A Demon Crawling from Hell
"Sir, should we explain the situation to Miss?"
Lin Fu glanced at the photo with concern. The two people in the photo looked so familiar. But when you see someone who died twenty years ago twenty years later, all you feel is deep fear and unease.
"No need! So many years have passed, let's not bring it up in front of her."
Gu Huaikun sat in the living room, still holding the photo in his hand, his brows furrowed tightly. He also bore some responsibility for what happened back then. Since he had chosen to protect Gu Mingxia, then let him protect her to the end!
He just didn't know who would bring him such a photo. Could it be her? Maybe not. So many years had passed; she might already be long gone!
Sigh, it's better that he's no longer alive than to live alone. Gu Huaikun sighed softly, placed the photo on the table beside him, and rubbed his temples. Things seemed to be getting more and more complicated!
I don't know... what exactly did Mingxia discover when she asked Ayan last time? Gu Huaikun closed his eyes, and it seemed that his only sister's smiling face appeared before him again. But... some feelings really shouldn't happen between siblings!
"Sir, the person has been brought!"
The maid's words interrupted Gu Huaikun's recollection. He looked up and saw Ah Xin walking over from behind the maid.
She wore a blue knee-length cheongsam, her hair styled in a bun, with a diamond hairpin adorning the bun that sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
A small face with exquisite makeup, red lips slightly pursed, possessed a unique allure in the night.
Her large eyes shone with a deep light, and it was as if time had suddenly traveled back twenty-eight years. It was on a night like this, with the same cheongsam and hairstyle, and the same young woman walking towards him step by step.
Those few short steps felt like a lifetime to someone twenty-eight years ago. Gu Huaikun's eyes welled up with tears. As he was about to stand up, supporting himself on the armrests of his wheelchair, Lin Fu suddenly reached out and touched his shoulder from behind.
"Sir, you're not feeling well, please don't get too excited!"
Lin Fu's words suddenly calmed Gu Huaikun down. Yes, he was not in good health now, and the person walking towards him was no longer the same person he used to be!
He reached out and patted Lin Fu's hand. Lin Fu glanced meaningfully at A Xin, who stood in the center of the living room with a cold expression, and then whispered a word of advice in Gu Huaikun's ear.
"Master, you're not feeling well, don't overwork yourself! Call me if you need anything, I'll stay outside."
Go!
Lin Fu glanced at A Xin with great concern, but A Xin's eyes were fixed on Gu Huaikun, completely ignoring Lin Fu's warning look.
Gu Huaikun didn't speak. Instead, he remained unusually calm as A Xin scrutinized him. After a long while, he gripped the armrest of his wheelchair tightly and asked her in a low voice.
"Who are you? What brings you here in the middle of the night?"
Upon hearing her words, Ah Xin withdrew her gaze from her and smiled alluringly.
"Mr. Gu, you must have a bad memory. I thought you would be able to guess my identity as soon as you saw me!"
Before Gu Huaikun could even speak, Ah Xin swayed her slender waist and sat down opposite him, her eyes sparkling with laughter and her soft, sweet voice captivating.
"Does Mr. Gu not see any old memories on my face? Or is my face not representative of anything?"
As he spoke, he took out a pack of cigarettes from his bag, and just as he was about to put one in his mouth, Gu Huaikun said coldly.
"Excuse me, I can't stand the smell of smoke!"
Ah Xin shrugged, glanced helplessly at the cigarette between her fingers, and then tossed it into the trash can.
"Sorry! I'll just have to obey my master's wishes!"
Gu Huaikun looked at the expression on her face. The subtle frowning and shrugging were familiar, but... he was somewhat bewildered and felt unwilling to believe that the person in front of him was the one he had in mind.
"Who exactly are you, and how did you get this photo?"
"Don't you already have the answer in your heart? Why ask such a redundant question?"
Ah Xin spoke with a seductive expression and a highly alluring smile. Gu Huaikun frowned. He was unwilling to believe the identity of the person in front of him, but some things he couldn't simply refuse to believe.
How much money do you want?
"Oh? What do you mean by that?"
"I don't care who you are, and I don't want to know why you came to see me in the middle of the night! Anyway, how much money do you want to disappear?"
A Xin stared blankly at Gu Huaikun. In his eyes, she saw herself as a joke. A few seconds later, she suddenly threw her head back and laughed out loud. She raised her hand and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes without leaving a trace.
"Mr. Gu, do you think I came to you for money? No, no, no! You probably don't know, I'm not short of money at all right now!"
"If you're not short of money, why did you come back to me? Take your money and go to America, Britain, or Canada—you can choose any of them! Why do you have to come back to Xiangcheng?"
Gu Huaikun gripped the armrests of his wheelchair tightly, forcing himself to look calmly at A Xin. To his surprise, after hearing his words, A Xin smiled charmingly at him.
She crossed her fair, rounded leg over her other leg, and innocently played with her fingers, which were painted with bright red nail polish.
"Don't you want to know how I, all alone and destitute, managed to get so much money?"
Before Gu Huaikun could speak, A Xin started talking on her own, telling the story in a nonchalant tone, as if she were telling someone else's story.
“When I was two years old, I was sent to Canada to live with a distant aunt. Because she was rich, she treated me very well. But when I was six, my mother died, and we had no money! My aunt started abusing me! She would either beat me or lock me in a dark basement. I wanted to escape, but in such a strange place as Canada, where could a six-year-old child run to? Besides, who would care about a child abandoned by their family? Until I was fourteen, my aunt died in a car accident. You have no idea how happy I was at that time, finally free from a life of suffering. But... it was only then that I realized that the life I had with my aunt was the happiest life I had ever had!”
At this point, Ah Xin looked up, a bewitching smile on her face, but her eyes held a look of world-weariness. That look went straight into Gu Huaikun's heart. He wanted to say something, but his throat felt so tight that he couldn't utter a single word.
"At fourteen, I met a very mysterious and beautiful woman. She told me that my mother was murdered and that I was abandoned by my father! I didn't believe her, but she showed me a video in which my beautiful mother became like a ghost until she committed suicide. Only then did I realize that I was indeed abandoned! After that, I followed that beautiful woman, and she put me in this man's bed and that man's bed. You probably can't imagine that a fourteen-year-old girl, dressed in gaudy lingerie, would please one man after another, men old enough to be her father or grandfather, on a large bed. Now I'm twenty-four, and I don't even know how many men I've slept with. So, I have a lot of money! Because those men are willing to pay a lot of money for a woman who is willing to accompany them in all sorts of positions and ways! Those men..."
"That's enough. I don't want to hear any of your experiences. Just tell me what you want!"
Gu Huaikun's face was pale, and he weakly interrupted A Xin's words. To his surprise, A Xin just smiled faintly, a smile tinged with desolation. Suddenly, she stood up, ripped open the buttons on her cheongsam, revealing her upper body, which was only covered by a bra. It was covered with scars, mostly new scars covering old ones.
"See these scars? These are all left by those men! They thought they could take advantage of me just because they paid money! Do you know how I've been living in hell all these years? Do you know how much pain I've been in? Do you think I came back because I care about your stinking money?"
Ah Xin screamed hysterically at the end, while Gu Huaikun, pale-faced, just stared blankly at her, his mouth opening and closing but not uttering a single word.
“These aren’t the cruelest things, you know? Once I got pregnant, and although I was very unwilling, I still wanted to give birth to that child because once I gave birth to that child, I would no longer be alone, and I would have my own family! But those people wouldn’t let me give birth. They took me to a black gold mine, stripped me naked, and threw me into a group of black slaves. I was gang-raped by those people again and again until I miscarried. But even then, those people didn’t let me go. For three days and three nights, my body was covered in blood. That’s when I understood that I couldn’t resist, so I might as well submit to their wishes and take back everything I had lost!”
Ah Xin buttoned up her cheongsam, walked step by step to Gu Huaikun, squatted down, and placed her hands on his knees.
"At that time, I felt like a demon crawling out of hell. After that, I lost all self-respect and shame! What could a woman who couldn't even be a mother have to possess?"
"That's your own fault! You could have lived a good life on your own. You only have yourself to blame for trusting that woman!"
Gu Huaikun slapped her hands off her knees. Axin stared blankly at her fallen hands, but quickly looked up at Gu Huaikun again.
"Yes, I should live a good life on my own, so I came back to Xiangcheng. I came back to find my family and to take back what rightfully belongs to me. Don't you agree, Dad?"
