Episode 81: Eavesdropping - The child's father is still uncertain.
Ye Xiaorou scoffed at Bai's mother's theory.
Even the people in the mountains don't have such old-fashioned ideas as her.
However, she still wanted to establish herself in the Bai family and continue to receive a considerable amount of money from Bai Zixuan. Therefore, she had no choice but to listen to what Bai's mother said, even if she didn't want to, she couldn't refute it.
"Mom, I know all that you're saying. Don't worry, I won't interfere with Xuan's affairs outside. I'll take good care of him at home!"
Ye Xiaorou lowered her head, her eyes filled with mockery. Yet, her words came out soft and gentle, like the most humble young wife of an ancient noble family.
Her voice was already pleasant to hear, and with her deliberate gentleness, it was especially pleasing to Bai's mother's ears.
Nodding, she gently patted the sofa, her eyes scanning Ye Xiaorou's body. When she saw Ye Xiaorou's protruding belly, her gaze softened.
"Alright, it's getting late, you should go back to your room and get some sleep!"
"Mom, you should go to bed early too. Staying up too late is bad for your health!"
Ye Xiaorou braced herself against the sofa with one hand and supported her lower back with the other, and stood up hesitantly. Her gaze towards her mother was filled with boundless filial piety.
"Okay, you can go back to your room now!"
Mrs. Bai hummed in agreement. Seeing that she had no interest in continuing the conversation, Ye Xiaorou didn't stand on ceremony and slowly went upstairs to her room to sleep, supporting her back.
What does it matter to her what time Bai Zixuan returns? As long as Bai Zixuan is willing to take responsibility for the child in her womb and is willing to give her and her family money, then she can make herself not care about anything else!

"What do you mean 'where did your wife and children come from?' Isn't Ye Xiaorou upstairs the woman you've chosen? Isn't the child in her belly yours? Ye Xiaorou leaned against the wall, unsure of what to do. He knew everything. She wasn't even sure who the father of the child was, but none of the men would admit it was theirs. So she went to Bai Zixuan, and thankfully, he was happy to learn she was pregnant. Ye Xiaorou thought, they'd both been intimate, maybe… this child might be his!
But now, hearing Bai Zixuan say this, did he already know about her past? Her tightly clenched hands trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to go downstairs, but she had no strength left. Especially after hearing what Bai's mother said, she suddenly became very afraid of Bai Zixuan's answer, but a voice in her heart told her not to leave, to hear what that man would say.

"Why didn't you sleep a little longer? What are you doing up so early?"

“I didn’t sleep well at night when you weren’t here. I woke up this morning feeling hot and heard you and Mom talking downstairs, so I rushed down to check on you…”
After saying this, Ye Xiaorou lowered her head shyly, but her eyes held a deep sense of sarcasm.
In order to get money from him to support her family, Ye Xiaorou felt that she had really despicable to the extreme. She guessed that only someone like her could tolerate a man who was fooling around with other women all day long!
