Chapter 13 Eating your food is giving you face.

Shen Yujiao was somewhat unhappy.

She condescended to give Mu Wanting the opportunity to curry favor with her sister-in-law.

Who knew that Mu Wanting would actually make demands of her!

Unfortunately, she didn't really have anything to offer, and she felt embarrassed and annoyed, so her tone became a bit harsh.

"Then what do you want?"

Mu Wanting smiled: "After you learn it, knit five hats and five fans for me every day for ten days in a row."

Shen Yujiao stared wide-eyed at Mu Wanting: "You've gone too far."

Mu Wanting said calmly, "There are plenty of people who want to learn from me, but have you ever paid any attention to them? I'm only teaching you because you're my sister-in-law."

Shen Yujiao rolled her eyes and reluctantly agreed.

Seeing that Mu Wanting had started teaching, the eldest and second wives also walked around, their eyes darting around as they watched Mu Wanting, hoping to learn by stealing her lessons.

Seeing this, Shen's mother and Shen Mingjiao, together with Shen Yujiao, surrounded Mu Wanting, blocking the view of the first and second wives.

Seeing Mu Wanting looking over with a smile, Shen's mother and Shen Mingjiao smiled and spoke.

“We know the rules, and our tuition is the same as Yu Jiao’s.”

Mu Wanting smiled and did not refuse.

She understood the principle that a small favor is appreciated, but a large one breeds resentment. She came with the intention of winning them over, so naturally she wouldn't create any enemies for herself.

Shen Yujiao and Shen Mingjiao learned very quickly, while Shen's mother was a little slower, but she learned it after being taught a couple more times.

Shen Yujiao clumsily wove a straw hat and a fan for herself. The hat was ugly, but at least it could block out the sun. The moment she put it on, she felt the heat disappear.

Once you become more skilled, you'll be like Mu Wanting, weaving as you walk.

Then he handed over the daily quota to her, but he couldn't help being curious.

"Why do you need so many straw hats and fans?"

Mu Wanting smiled meaningfully, and soon after, someone walked towards them.

"Madam Mu, it's so hot today. Can you sell us your straw hat and fan?"

Mu Wanting raised her voice and said, "Of course, it's 500 coins per hat. If you don't have money, you can also collect wild vegetables, herbs, and food to exchange for it."

Everyone's eyes lit up; this price wasn't expensive at all on the road to exile. Besides, there were other ways to obtain it!

After all, Mu Wanting has a monopoly on this business, and with the weather so hot, hats are the most practical item. As long as the price isn't too outrageous, everyone can accept it.

In no time, those who had been watching bought hats and fans, while those who had no money exchanged the wild vegetables and herbs they had gathered along the way.

With hats and fans, people were less exposed to the sun, and the number of people suffering from heatstroke decreased dramatically.

More and more people came to buy hats and fans. Mu Wanting could make 20 hats and 20 fans every day. Most of them paid money, and she earned 5-8 taels of silver a day, as well as some wild vegetables and herbs.

She then wove a basket out of vines to carry these things on her back, but she found it tiring, so she asked Shen Yujiao to carry it for her.

At first, this pampered young lady Shen Yujiao was unwilling, but after being fed two bowls of delicious fish and meat every day, she quickly and happily carried them on her back.

Madam Shen frowned: "Yu Jiao, how could you be so foolish? Have you forgotten what Mu Wanting did back then? You even helped her carry things."

Shen Yujiao remained silent.

Madam Shen whispered provocatively in Shen Yujiao's ear, her words dripping with spittle.

"Don't forget, how could someone as ruthless as Mu Wanting possibly be sincere towards your third branch of the family?"

"Don't let her carry it. I don't know what her purpose is in scheming to marry Xinglan."

Shen Yujiao looked at Mu Wanting and saw that she smiled at her with an ambiguous expression. She then spoke frankly about the matter at hand.

"Putting aside other things, in terms of memorizing things, Mu Wanting actually paid me, so it wasn't like I was working for nothing."

After all, not everyone can afford to drink fish soup.

Upon hearing this, Madam Shen was speechless. Shen Yujiao had actually spoken up for Mu Wanting!

Seeing that her attempts to sow discord had failed, and that it had been the men of the second branch of the family taking turns pushing Shen Xinglan for the past few days, leaving the people of the third branch with nothing to do, Madam Shen grew increasingly angry.

She could have tolerated her anger, but by evening, the lavish dinner prepared by the third wife made her unable to suppress her rage any longer.

Even if someone brought them money, all they could buy were white flour cakes and meat soup, which were only slightly better in taste.

However, what Mu Wanting made was truly delicious.

Especially today, Mu Wanting caught so many fish that in addition to cooking them, she also grilled them.

The aroma, combined with the seasonings, was instantly aroused, causing everyone's mouths to water and their eyes to frequently turn to Mu Wanting.

Mu Wanting was able to cook the fish and grill the fish at the same time with ease and found it very enjoyable.

She loves the process of food slowly transforming into something delicious in her hands, especially when she sees others finish it all; it gives her an incredible sense of accomplishment.

There was an unusually large amount of fish today; after deducting the food for the three households, there was still some left over.

Mu Wanting wrapped the grilled fish in large, non-toxic leaves and had Shen Xingyi help her carry several of them to the officials.

"Sirs, you must be tired from your journey. This is what I have prepared for today. I hope it will suit your tastes."

The official swallowed silently and nodded faintly.

After Mu Wanting left, the officials rushed over and began to eat the fish.

They had tried grilling fish themselves, but it was either undercooked or burnt, with a burnt and bitter taste, making it inedible.

But this grilled fish changed their perception. The fish was fresh and tender, without any fishy or burnt taste, and the seasoning was very flavorful. They couldn't stop eating it because it was so delicious.
