Chapter 50 Duel
The familiar, crisp bamboo scent drifted into Shen Yuexi's nose.
She looked up in surprise.
Xiao Zhuo's cold and murderous profile came into her sight.
"Xiao Zhuo!"
She excitedly stretched out her hands and hugged the man in front of her.
She really didn't expect Xiao Zhuo to come and save her. At first, she placed her hopes on Xiao Zhuo, but the longer she waited, the more disappointed she became, until she finally became disheartened.
But when she had given up hope, Xiao Zhuo really came.
Compared to Shen Yuexi's excitement, Xiao Zhuo just turned his head and glanced at her indifferently, as if to make sure if she was okay.
Then Xiao Zhuo raised his hand and patted her shoulder, whispering, "Yuexi, let go."
Shen Yuexi quickly let go of her hands, secretly blaming herself in her heart: What happened to me? Why was I so excited to see Xiao Zhuo?
"Xiao Zhuo, you finally showed up."
Xiao Beiheng's voice came from not far away.
Shen Yuexi and Xiao Zhuo stood side by side, watching the line of sword-wielding guards approaching from a distance. Xiao Beiheng and Lin Kui walked in front.
Xiao Zhuo looked at Xiao Beiheng coldly and stood with a sword in his hand.
"Prince Qi, tell me your conditions."
Xiao Beiheng smiled and said, "As expected of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, you guessed so quickly that this prince had other intentions."
He is worthy of being the world-famous prince. Even though he has fallen into such a state, his elegance and grace have not diminished at all.
Xiao Zhuo looked at Xiao Xingheng coldly, his expression calm, "Your Highness has gone to so much trouble to lure me out, he must be asking for something, how can I not comply?"
Shen Yuexi looked at Xiao Beiheng with a bit of disbelief. It turned out that Xiao Beiheng shot her with an arrow in order to lure out Xiao Zhuo.
The stakes are huge. If Xiao Zhuo doesn't come, my death will be in vain.
But what does Xiao Zhuo mean?
Are you trying to cooperate with Xiao Beiheng?
But with Xiao Zhuo's proud character, how could he be willing to be inferior to others?
"That's straightforward," Xiao Beiheng said with a smile on his face. He waved his hand to signal the knife-wielding guards behind him to retreat. "This prince doesn't intend to kill you. It's just that I've always heard that the prince is a master of both civil and military skills. Today, this prince would like to experience his martial arts skills. What do you think, prince?"
"condition."
Xiao Zhuo's voice was cold, his body remained motionless, staring straight at Xiao Beiheng, his expression unreadable.
"You and I will duel with swords. If you win, you can take Shen Yuexi away, and this prince will never send anyone to stop you," Xiao Beiheng cast his gaze at Shen Yuexi with a curled mouth.
"What if you win?" Shen Yuexi couldn't help but ask.
Xiao Beiheng laughed heartily and said, "If this prince wins, you two will be at his mercy for the rest of your lives."
The volume was not loud, but it was extremely arrogant.
Although Xiao Zhuo was down and out, he still had the pride of a prince. How could he agree to such conditions offered by Xiao Beiheng?
But to her surprise, Xiao Zhuo just replied calmly, "Okay."
Shen Yuexi was stunned. She didn't expect Xiao Zhuo to actually agree.
She turned to look at Xiao Zhuo and found that there was no trace of reluctance in his expression, as if this was a very common thing.
Shen Yuexi glanced at the guards behind Xiao Beiheng; none of them looked like they were good people. Given Xiao Beiheng's ruthless and cruel ways, he probably wouldn't let her and Xiao Zhuo off easily even if he lost.
While she was worrying, Xiao Zhuo and Xiao Beiheng had already walked towards the open space next to them.
Going over at this point would only cause more trouble, so she stood aside. The guards from Prince Qi's mansion stood opposite, and between the two groups of spectators stood Xiao Zhuo and Xiao Beiheng.
Xiao Zhuo stood there, pointing his sword diagonally at the ground, calmly and unhurriedly.
Xiao Beiheng looked at Xiao Zhuo across from him, his eyes filled with uncontrollable enthusiasm: "Yes, that's it, a sword!"
Lin Kui presented a long sword with both hands. Xiao Beiheng grasped the hilt and slowly drew the sword from its sheath. He held the sword horizontally in front of his eyes, looking at Xiao Zhuo across from him from above the blade.
Lin Kui retreated, leaving the two men behind.
Xiao Zhuo was wearing a moon-white robe, while Xiao Beiheng was wearing a purple robe. The long swords in their hands were both chilling.
Shen Yuexi clenched her fists nervously.
She knew that if they didn't move, it would be fine, but if they moved, it would be a fight to the death.
She knew that Xiao Zhuo was famous for his swordsmanship, and she had also witnessed Xiao Beiheng slaying the bandits. She wondered who would win this duel.
Xiao Zhuo must win.
A gust of wind blew between the two of them, picking up a pile of dry yellow leaves and swirling them between them.
Xiao Beiheng seemed to have an idea. A dangerous smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, and he slowly turned the sword blade.
Xiao Zhuo remained unmoved.
As leaves drifted by, Shen Yuexi suddenly saw a blinding light emanate from Xiao Beiheng's sword. She couldn't help but raise her hand to block it.
It turned out that Xiao Beiheng used the sword blade to reflect the sunlight, trying to interfere with Xiao Zhuo and gain the upper hand.
This guy is so cunning.
Before she could even look at Xiao Zhuo, Xiao Beiheng took the initiative, took a step forward, swung his sword, and stabbed at Xiao Zhuo's throat like a poisonous snake out of a cave.
The sword was so fast that Shen Yuexi only saw a flash of cold light, as fast as lightning. She was so frightened that she almost screamed.
I didn't expect Xiao Beiheng to draw his sword so quickly.
But Xiao Zhuo seemed to be prepared, taking a step sideways and avoiding the incoming sword without any danger. At the same time, he raised his sword in his right hand and swung it horizontally, drawing a flat, shining fan-shaped line that slashed towards Xiao Beiheng's crown.
Xiao Beiheng also took a step to the side and swung his sword horizontally.
With a clang, the swords clashed, and both men took a step back.
"Good sword!" Xiao Beiheng took a breath.
"You're not bad either." Xiao Zhuo responded indifferently. As he spoke, he rushed forward, and raised his long sword from bottom to top, slashing towards Xiao Beiheng's right arm holding the sword.
Xiao Beiheng swung his sword to block, and when the two swords collided, he kicked off with his feet and jumped high into the air.
Xiao Zhuo took a step forward without hesitation, rushed to the bottom of Xiao Beiheng, and stabbed upward with his sword.
Xiao Beiheng was upside down, swinging his sword rapidly as he fell, as if several sword blades suddenly appeared and enveloped Xiao Zhuo.
A dense clanging sound echoed between the two men. The surging sword energy even swept up the leaves on the ground.
In just a short moment, Shen Yuexi felt that the two had exchanged more than ten sword blows.
The last sound was particularly harsh, as Xiao Beiheng's blade pressed down on Xiao Zhuo's. They both shouted loudly and simultaneously extended their left palms to strike at each other.
There were two muffled "bang" sounds.
Xiao Zhuo knelt on one knee and leaned his sword on the ground.
Xiao Beiheng flew out, somersaulted twice, crashed into a small tree, and fell to the ground.
"Xiao Zhuo!" Shen Yuexi was worried about Xiao Zhuo's safety and didn't care about any rules. She hurried over and held his arm.
Lin Kui and the guards over there also hurriedly ran towards Xiao Beiheng.
Xiao Zhuo took a deep breath and said to Shen Yuexi, "It's okay."
"I didn't expect that," Xiao Beiheng stopped the guards from helping him up with his hand, stood up by himself, and patted the dust off his robe, "I didn't expect that you were still so strong after being injured by the arrow. I really underestimated you."
Xiao Zhuo replied calmly: "Then?"
"You win, take her away." Xiao Beiheng handed the sword to Lin Kui beside him, turned around and walked out of the forest with his hands behind his back.
Shen Yuexi couldn't believe it.
Xiao Beiheng actually admitted defeat so readily? With his personality, it seemed unlikely.
She was still standing there in a daze when Xia Lan came over with two horses. She handed her the reins and said with a smile, "The master ordered me to give you two horses."
Xiao Zhuo took the reins and said to Shen Yuexi, "Let's go."
Shen Yuexi mounted the horse and looked back at the convoy outside the woods. Xiao Beiheng had indeed returned to the carriage, and a group of guards followed behind, with no intention of pursuing them.
Is it really safe?
