Chapter 20: Scarier than wolves, or lustful wolves
Scarface waved his hand perfunctorily.
With a stern look, he patrolled the area around the prisoners being escorted.
Then he said, "Find a few more people to help us wash clothes. They need to be quick and diligent."
Xiang Qianqian smiled and said, "No problem. Let me take care of this matter."
The military supervisor turned and left, and the surrounding female relatives gathered around Xiang Qianqian.
They all asked her what happened and how she managed to win the captain's favor.
After listening for a while, Xiangying also understood.
Xiang Qianqian took a few palace concubines and maids and took the initiative to cook for the team captain and a group of soldiers.
In exchange they received steamed buns, pickles, and pork bones left over from the South Vietnamese soldiers' soup.
The eyes of the exiled women, who had been hungry for days, lit up when they saw the food Xiang Qianqian brought.
They gathered around Xiang Qianqian, said nice things to her, and tried their best to please her, just to get half a steamed bun.
Xiang Qianqian was a little arrogant: "Don't push, if you are willing to follow me, I will naturally let you fill your stomachs."
"I'm not like some people who only enjoy delicious food by themselves."
"But you have to listen to me and follow my orders, otherwise you won't have anything to eat."
In an instant, there were many voices echoing her, all eager to show their loyalty.
But there were also those who ignored her, including the Seventh Princess and Concubine Yu.
Xiang Qianqian shared the steamed buns and kept half of them. She walked up to the Seventh Princess and said, "Seventh sister, why are you still refusing to pay attention to me? Do you want to continue to starve?"
The Seventh Princess sat on a rock, her legs curled up due to hunger, but she would rather hold her stomach than look at Qianqian.
"Thank you, Fifth Sister, but I cannot accept your kindness!"
Xiang Qianqian's eyes changed, and she snorted, "Then you can just starve. You really deserve it. Look, you've been begging that person these past few days, but she hasn't given you anything to eat."
"I really don't know why you are being so disrespectful to me. I treat you much better than she treats you! Just forget it, and I won't talk to you anymore. Otherwise, even if I keep a dog and treat her well, she will still wag her tail."
The Seventh Princess was enraged by her humiliating words and stood up suddenly.
"Before you said that my elder sister had no dignity and backbone for showing off her charm in exchange for food, so what about you now?"
"You dragged everyone to help the soldiers of South Vietnam cook and even find people to wash their clothes. Xiang Qianqian, you were a princess of a country before, but now you are so servile."
"Where is the dignity and backbone you always talk about? Could it be that you only know how to ask others to do something, but you can't do it yourself?"
Xiang Qianqian's face froze when she heard what she said: "I... why are you being so rude to me? In the current situation, it's not up to you or me."
"Besides, someone has set a bad precedent. If you don't bribe the captain, you won't have anything to eat. I just want everyone to live a better life. What did I do wrong?"
Xiang Qianqian wiped her tears and began to cry in grievance.
She turned around and said angrily, "Alright! From now on I won't care about anything, and I won't help you find ways to fill your stomachs. Let's all starve together!"
The women who had just received the steamed buns spoke out to comfort him.
"Fifth Princess, you have good intentions, don't worry about what others say!"
"Yes, what's the point of being spineless? We have lost our country, and the Fifth Princess is doing this for our own good."
"The Seventh Princess is so ignorant. Why is she teaching the Fifth Princess a lesson instead of helping to share the burden?"
Some people even began to support the fifth princess and make her their backbone.
"From now on, we will all follow the Fifth Princess's arrangements. We'll do whatever you say."
"That's right, listen to the Fifth Princess. As long as we have something to eat, we can survive!"
The Seventh Princess was so angry at them that she was speechless.
Yupin pulled the Seventh Princess to sit aside and whispered, "Don't bother with her. These people are very stupid. Sooner or later, they will be killed by the Fifth Princess and they will still count money for her."
Xiangying's family watched with a cold attitude.
Xiangli wanted to say a few fair words, but Xiangying blocked his mouth with a bunch of herbs.
He swallowed it with difficulty, frowning at the bitterness.
“When did you pick the herbs?”
"I saw it when I was wandering in the woods just now." Xiangying made up an excuse.
After the evening, dusk falls.
Those female relatives who said they wanted to support Xiang Qianqian had clearly drawn a line between themselves and Xiang Ying and the others.
They gathered around the only fire and allowed only themselves to sit by it.
A group of people had their fill and were talking and laughing.
Xiang Qianqian was among them, wearing a white dress, sitting on a rock and fixing her hair with her hands.
She looked like a little princess.
From time to time, she glanced at Xiangying, then looked away and snorted coldly.
Because the military supervisors were all resting in the post station, the escorted prisoners could only sleep on the floor.
It was hot at night, and Xiangying was afraid that Xiangli would get a sore on his back, so he spread a bearskin mat on the ground for the children to sleep on.
Unexpectedly, Xiang Yuanxiao climbed onto the wooden cart mischievously, speaking coquettish words with his little red mouth.
"Uncle, I want to sleep with you and listen to your stories."
Xiangli didn't cry out in pain when he pressed the wound on his arm. Instead, he relaxed his brows and smiled softly.
"Okay, Yuan Xiao, lie down."
Xiang Ying lifted Xiang Yuanxiao down with one hand.
"You're so chubby now, like a meatball, don't crowd your uncle!"
When Xiangli turned around and was squeezed by him again, his wound broke and festered, and Xiangying had a headache again.
Xiang Yuanxiao flapped his calves: "Bad guy, let me go, I want my uncle, you can't tell stories."
“I can,” Xiangying put him on the bearskin mat, “I can tell the story of the boy who cried wolf.”
The three little ones' eyes suddenly lit up, and they gathered together and listened obediently to Xiangying's story about the wolf coming.
At the end of the story, the wolf ate the child. Xiang Xiuxiu screamed in fear and covered her face with her little hands.
"Mom, stop talking, I'm scared!"
Xiangying laughed and said, "Why are you afraid? Mom is here."
Xiang Yuanxiao said angrily, "That's right, there's nothing to be afraid of. She's scarier than a wolf, and she's a sex-hungry wolf."
Tao Xue couldn't help but burst out laughing: "Before, the censor impeached the princess as a female pervert and was hung up and beaten by the princess. It turns out that the little prince still remembers it?"
After she finished speaking, she saw Xiangying's face darken out of the corner of her eye.
Tao Xue hurriedly tried to make excuses: "Your Highness shouldn't say that. The Princess was wrongly accused by those stinky censors."
Xiangying sneered: "I won't forgive you!"
She pounced over and tickled Tao Xue and Xiang Yuanxiao fiercely.
Taoxue was ticklish and fell to the ground begging for mercy after being tickled twice.
Xiang Yuanxiao jumped up with a roar and ran around the wooden cart.
"Uncle, save me!"
"No one can save you!" Xiangying pursued relentlessly.
Xiangli saw that they were getting along well, and a gentle smile appeared in his eyes.
All three children became closer to her.
At this moment, Yupin screamed nearby——
"Seventh Princess! What's wrong with you, Seventh Princess? Something's wrong with the eldest princess, the Seventh Princess is having a convulsion!"
