Chapter 17: Catching a Cold

Chapter 17: Catching a Cold

"Cousin! Come here quickly!"

Qin Xiangnuan buried the things in a pit in the corner, bent down and squatted to grab two handfuls of loose soil to cover it, and stepped on it twice when she stood up.

Perhaps she had stood up too quickly. Qin Xiangnuan's eyes began to buzz and she experienced a brief deafness. She leaned against the wall and tried to calm down. Qin Feng noticed something was wrong and quickly supported her elbow. "Cousin, you look so bad!"

"Don't worry about me for now, what's buried there?"

Qin Xiangnuan's voice was a little weak as she pointed at the pit.

Qin Feng looked over in surprise, then froze in shock. Unable to suppress the smile on his face, he scraped at the loose soil with his hands.

Dong—he threw the broken dagger on his waist to the ground, holding the dagger with a sharp blade and a hard scabbard in his hands lovingly. The moment he pulled it out, the blade reflected silver light and a biting chill came towards his face, it seemed to resonate with Qin Feng.

"Wow! This is the best dagger I have ever seen in my life!"

"It's such a waste to let these bandits use it in a place like this!"

Qin Feng excitedly uttered several idioms in succession. Qin Xiangnuan raised the corner of her lips and gently reminded him, "Cousin, keep your voice down. This is such a good thing. Not only do the officials want it, but even your second uncle would probably snatch it from you if he knew about it. Why don't you put it in your arms and hide it like a treasure?"

"Yes!" After she reminded him, Qin Feng quickly dodged Qin Yi and secretly put it close to his body.

Qin Xiangnuan saw that there was nothing left in the house that could be taken away, and the sun had reappeared outside. There was no reason to stay any longer. She wanted to tell everyone to set off, but when she opened her mouth, no sound came out. Her body shook twice, and her head felt like someone had hit it with a stick.

"cousin!"

Qin Xiangnuan saw Qin Feng's big face getting closer and closer, and her expression was extremely anxious.

She could feel her body slowly falling backwards, but she couldn't control it, and with a bang she lost consciousness.

It’s cold, and my body is shivering.

Qin Xiangnuan felt a tumbling sensation in her stomach, a nauseous urge to vomit. She opened her eyes abruptly. Her vision cleared, revealing several concerned faces. Liu held her hand, wiping it with a wet handkerchief. Her second and third uncles flanked her, their brows furrowed in worry. Qin Feng was trembling with anxiety.

"Wake up! Cousin, wake up!"

When Qin Feng saw her open her eyes, he immediately shouted with joy.

Qin Xiangnuan frowned in pain because of the noise. Qin Yi noticed it and kicked Qin Feng aside fiercely, "Shut up! Nuannuan needs to rest now."

"Nuannuan, are you still feeling uncomfortable?"

"You scared us to death. Do you know you have a high fever? You must have caught a cold."

Liu was so distressed that tears were about to fall. She glanced at the chief official beside her and reminded her, "The official saw that you were really feverish, so he allowed us to stay for another day. But he was afraid that we would have to rush back overnight. The official said that we were delayed too much."

"Thank you, sir."

Qin Xiangnuan struggled to sit up and nodded in the direction of the officer.

She could feel the heat in her breath; it was definitely a bad cold. She'd been so busy lately that she'd forgotten her body belonged to a delicate official's daughter, one that had been overdrawn for days. Add to that the rainy night spent searching the mountains for Qin Xiangsong, and all that pent-up fatigue had suddenly erupted with such force that she was practically dizzy.

Qin Xiangnuan sighed and felt a little thirsty.

"Big sister, drink some water." A slightly timid child's voice came from the side. Qin Xiangnuan turned her head and saw Qin Xiangsong with a red face and red ears saying, "Big sister, you are sick because of Song'er. You need to drink more water to get better."

After he finished speaking, he turned his head and looked at Qin Wen, who was obviously sent by someone.

Qin Xiangnuan didn't bother with him. The child was still young and had been frightened last night. He was already mentally unstable and was prone to getting sick at this moment.

There were too many people around, and Qin Xiangnuan had no way to take some antibiotics and antipyretics from the space. She remembered that she had a few packets of emergency Chinese medicine in her arms, which were prescriptions for dispelling colds. She had brought them out casually at the beginning, but they could come in handy now.

"Mom, go put all these in the iron pot, boil it, and give everyone some to drink."

"This soup medicine can dispel the cold. Everyone, please don't get close to me and stay with me, otherwise I'm afraid I'll infect you. I can take care of myself, and I don't think there's anything serious now." Qin Xiangnuan handed the medicine bag to Liu, and seeing her red eyes, she forced a smile.

Due to extreme dehydration, the cracked corners of my mouth began to tear and hurt, and a little blood seeped out.

This body is too weak.

Qin Xiangnuan frowned in dissatisfaction, thinking about how to increase her physical strength. Even if she couldn't return to the physical fitness of the agent, she couldn't walk a few steps without feeling sick. Besides, she had a lot of things to do before meeting the general...

"Everyone drink a bowl."

"Second brother, you should drink a bowl too. You got soaked yesterday too."

The den of criminals was filled with the strong smell of Chinese medicine. Qin Xiangnuan fell into a deep sleep again without knowing when. When she woke up again, she felt the familiar shaking again. She opened her eyes and found herself on Qin Yi's back.

Qin Yi has a broad back and walks steadily. It can be seen that he is trying his best to make himself more comfortable.

Qin Xiangnuan's heart moved, and she whispered, "Second Uncle, put me down, I can walk by myself."

At noon, Qin Xiangnuan still felt chills all over her body, and her teeth chattered when she spoke.

"Little girl, don't try to be as stubborn as your father." Qin Yi turned around, his voice filled with the scolding and care of an elder. "You're not well yet. The officer is pressing us hard, and we can't stop. So I'll carry you on my back. Don't worry about it. How heavy can a little girl be?"

"Back then, when I was outside with your father, I could walk briskly with a few bags of rice on my back."

Qin Yi smiled brightly, "The shoes you made are much better than the ones I wore originally. I'm not tired at all. Just stay on Second Uncle's back and come down when you're better. Everyone in our house is worried about you! Your mother cried several times last night and her eyes are swollen."

"If you want us to be at ease, you should get better as soon as possible."

Qin Yi moved his numb hands, rocked Qin Xiangnuan, and changed to a comfortable position.

"Cousin, do you want to eat some fruit? They're sweet. I just picked some and saved them for you!" Qin Feng saw her wake up and trotted to Qin Yi's side. His eyes were full of youthful brilliance, and he proudly took credit for it. "Qin Xiangsong pestered me for it several times, but I didn't give him any!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a few chuckles were heard from behind him.

"Just eat two." Qin Xiangnuan felt a warm feeling in her heart and raised her hand to take one.

How can it be sweet? It's obviously sour.

She thought about it in her heart, but she tasted the sweetness beyond the fruit.
